Hey all. I’m having a small but agonizing issue with my fish tales. Although this has been mentioned before, none of the solutions seem to work for me.

The playfield hinge does not “click” into the mounting holes unless a large amount of force is used with a specific angle. It seems as if the little metal tabs that rotate on the hinge get stuck in between the two sets of mounting holes. The Getaway that I have also worked on had not had this issue, and I have been able to pull the playfield out an up very easily.

If I lift the playfield up a foot and then try to pull it forward, there is no click either.

I would try and get the playfield all the way back, lift straight up and down. And then slide into position right. Your slide is trying to go under the thing it should be on top of.

It seems as though the moving part of the slides is too far down, possibly bent?

Am I seeing this right?

Looks that way, something isn't right.

Should be like the picture in the link.

Yes, its bent a bit and the lever gets flipped out of place...you can remove it, straighten it up and reinstall, but ultimately you should just replace it or it will continue to be a pain in the ass...
They are around $32 at marcos...probably a bit cheaper elsewhere.

Agreed. Once the movable portion is bent laterally, you're kind of screwed. It'll work for a bit then it'll start sticking again. $28 each at Pinball Life. Search for playfield slide assembly.

So you guys are saying that the movable piece is too far down to clear that second post? Is it possible that the springs are too tight/the wrong type, or that the metal sleds in the back are bent?

Also, is the rod holding the movable piece bent, or the movable piece itself?

Sorry for all the questions, I want to be sure I can't fix this before I spend $60 to replace both hinges.
