Hey everyone,

Just because I was curious, I decided to remove the translite on my Doctor Who machine (which currently works 100%) and check all test-point voltages on the driver board.

Something came back curious.

My DMM told me TP8 is spitting out only +17V (more like in the high +16V actually) instead of the +18V mentioned on the pcb and the schematics.

The Doctor is running perfectly and so I was wondering what such a drop would have on the game? The schematics tell me that the +18V go to the lamp columns. There are a few lamps that are out but I haven't bothered with replacing them yet (a 555 on a pop-bumper and one 555 on the pcb for the Extra Ball lamps).

Hmm...

A +1V drop sounds pretty damn important if ya ask me.

The 18 volts isn't regulated.

I don't think 17 volts is that far out of whack. If the lamp matrix works, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sounds good to me.

Thanks John.

It's not. Now if it was in the 5V circuit, sure.

Don't worry about it and enjoy the game.

Yeah, I've just been watching too many of the pinballninja videos lately and all of those "Game Reset" errors kinda got to my head.

All's good. Thanks everyone.

Not to mention that some of the variance could be in just your meter, itself.
