I am working on a STTNG and there is an issue with the sound (video as per the below link)

The usual capacitors have been replaced and U18 has been socketed and replaced as it was blown.

Where do I need to look next as the sound quality is not improving. I have also tried another sound card and had no issues.

Thanks in advance.

Your c37 capacitor is missing.

Thank you for the feedback. C37 and C45 have been removed as per the pinwiki advice although this did not make any difference to the sound quality.

I have a test working WPC DCS board if you need it. $175 plus shipping.

In the post from RonaldRayGun above, there is a link to a thread where JeffHecht comments about unbalanced supply voltages. Check that out.

The suggestion, assuming you find those voltages unbalanced, was to install 470ohm,1/2W resistor across each of the two 10K caps.

Interesting issue.

ChrisHibler thanks for pointing this out. I just checked the voltage and I got the following results.
C18 = 17.4v
C19 = 17.3v

Looks to be balanced.

Any thoughts on what else may be a cause.

It looks like you have had this problem for some time. Is it still something that is a problem on yours.

Yes, I ended up replacing it with a Pinsound board, the sound is awesome from that thing. But I still like to fix the original board.

Just thinking about this. What should the voltage be at this point is 17v to high?
