1. - In the manual inside cover there are dip switches settings by country but I can’t seem to find any other reference in the manual as to what they actually do. What happens if you change them to something other than US/Canada?
2. - Among other tournament-related settings, Adj. A.2.32 is called “PLYR TOURNAMENT” settable to Yes or No, but this adjustment is not listed in the preliminary nor final July 95 edition of the manual. What is it supposed to do?
3. - Adj. A.2.30 in the final edition of the manual is for ‘German speech’ but it doesn’t show up in the adjustments menu. I even tried setting text to German first since the manual says the speech option depends on that being set to German but adj. 30 still does not show in the settings, they just skip from 29 to 31.
Thanks!

1 - https://www.flippers.be/basics/101_wpc_country_settings.html This changes the default settings if CPU power is lost.

2 - Tournament on removes random awards and scoring, making an even playing field for players.

Ah okay so the dip switches predefine certain defaults for when you do a factory reset instead of having to set them all manually, makes sense. Hmm it also says "A few WPC-95 pinball machines... even show additional menu settings depending on the selected country." Jackbot isn't WPC-95 but I wonder if setting the dips to German would then enable the German speech option #30 in the settings. Maybe I'll give it a try but I'm guessing it simply was never actually implemented. Just wanted to see what the German speech sounded like. Weird that they only included German as alternate speech and was added to the final version.

There is another standard setting called "Tournament Play" Y/N which sounds like it does what you describe as far as equalizing certain things, so I'm still not sure what the "Plyr Tournament" in feature settings is supposed to do in conjunction with that especially since the manual doesn't mention or describe it.
Thanks!

If yes, it ALLOWS the player to start a game in Tournament Mode. To do this, hold both flippers for a good 5 seconds, and the screen should then display a message stating that Tourny Mode is active, hit start.

Setting this to No will not allow this to happen.

Tournament Play is a great option for giving all players the same experience. It addition to what's been stated above, it also makes it so that every fourth attempted game cheat* is successful, rather than making cheating success random.

Also, there's a bug when Tournament Play is selected that can cause occasional game resets immediately following the end of a game (audit writing maybe?). I had a JB that I kept in Tournament Play, and would only see this behavior once in a while.

Thanks, I'll play around with the two tournament settings. So sounds like 'Tournament Play' enables tournament play, and 'Plyr Tournament' allows players to actually begin a tournament game.

This setting FORCES Tourny mode on or off. If on, the game is ALWAYS in Tourny mode. Regardless of whether the player tries to start it or not.

Okay now I get it, thank you!
