Looking for some technical advice ...
B/W used an 8 ohm cabinet speaker in the WPC machines from Funhouse to Party Zone, before moving to a 4 ohm speaker in Hurricane and all machines after that. Also after Hurricane they changed the R23 & R24 resistor values on the A-12738 (pre-DCS) audio board to alter the balance between speech/sound effects and music (Ref: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/adjusting-volume-of-background-music#post-37721). So wondering whether changing the cabinet speaker from 8 ohm to 4, required the rebalance of the audio channels?? Or is this unrelated
Now I need to replace the cabinet speaker (8 ohm) in a T2, but have noticed that companies like PinballPro don't differentiate between the WPC machines with 4 & 8 ohm cabinet speakers (their Pre-DCS sub is 4 ohms). Also in Joseph Dziedzic's guide http://www.dziedzic.us/wpc_speaker_sound_info.html there isn't mention of using 4 or 8 ohm cabinet speakers. So if I use for example PinballPro's Pre-DCS sub (4 ohms), should I also be changing R23/R24 on the board? Or should I be sticking to an 8 ohm speaker?
Hoping someone with more knowledge of electronics and audio can help me out
Thanks
