There are 2 hex head screws for each switch mechanism that can be reached from under the machine without removing anything. You can loosen them and adjust the switch positions. First go into switch test mode and see which one is easily activating, left or right. Barely touch the activator plate or bang on the playfield. One is probably too close to activating in the rest position. I went from hard to activate to the same problem you are having before finally getting it right.
