This may happen to some of you. I don't know Gatordad's details, but a couple of people have used machines where it looks like the ball fell off and the previous owner glued it back on. So there might be a lot of glue. But I found something that worked really well for me. I set the ball in the base of this piece with Super Glue remover on it overnight. It turned gummy and I was able to get pretty much all of it off. (That's the spot right in the middle with the scratch). I imagine you could use foil or something like that to create a base like this one that would work equally well.

No way mine was falling off in this century. I had to destroy that black plastic to get it off, and then I was able to carefully remove the glue residue. It was a chore....they must have switched to Gorilla Glue at the point when they figured out monkey glue wasn’t cutting it.
Yeah. I'm the only owner of my machine, so I have no idea what kind of glue is on others. But it worked well for me. Just be careful, because...

Does anyone have a new crystal ball that you don't need and would sell? Unfortunately I need a new one, and JJP told me they wouldn't be able to address it at the moment until the move was complete in June (and that's at the earliest if things go well).
I really don't want to wait that long as I have Steve's crystal ball mod mocking me that I can't install it.

If you know the diameter there are Many options on Amazon for under $20 in photography. Good luck

Why do you need a new one? as long as you didn't gouge the acrylic ball any scratches can easily be buffed out with micro mesh pads like the ones below.
Start w 1500 and work up progressively to 12000
Ive used these to bring a shinny polish to old rusty carriage bolts, I used them to buff my ball too.
