Received mine today and it looks great, Steve. Will install tonight!

#3502 4 years ago
Quoted from jedimastermatt:

Steve - thank you for the update and please take care of yourself and your family. Especially if you have to make any trips to drop these off in the mail.
Not to start a panic in this thread, the grocery store this morning had ZERO chicken in stock. May your chicken futures be plentiful.

And to answer your question about safety, both Tricia and I are doing our best. My lovely wife has MS, so keeping her safe is my first priority. I generally only go to my small local UPS with a s***load of boxes at one time (much to the dismay of the poor guy who has to type all of the addresses, I'm sure), and keep my distance, wash my hands, etc.

We should all take this seriously, but not so serious that we can't have fun and keep clogging this thread with stupid chicken pictures.

At least now wearing the resin grinding mask all day has a life saving value! Glass half full!

Indeed! God, that part sucks! hahaha.

Time to show off my beautiful crystal ball:

Yup. And it is far easier to see now too!

Local Lowe’s was out of the recommended JB plastic weld in clear (only had tan) so I went with gorilla instead since it dries clear.

And to polish the ball I used novus 3 then 2. I had an extra ball from a warranty issue caused in delivery (ball came off mount and was damaged) but I was able to polish it all out, and hid the chip in the new base.

Now I need to find time to install mine.

#3516 4 years ago

Take your time Steve with mine - the Aussie dollar has absolutely slumped in recent days and I'm waiting for some normality / rationality so I can afford to pay. Then again, enforced working from home means it's a good time to install...

That's awesome glue!

In the end all that matters is that its clear, and glues resin or plastic.

I noticed thst is was easier to read also.

Its an awesome mod!

Haha! I know! I love the witch looking at you after the third hit. Never, EVER saw that. Really glad you like it.

Holy crap is right!

The crystal ball stands out so prominently that people ask if its new lol.

They never noticed it before.

It draws them in like a magnet!

Hey everyone,

The Golden State of California has officially been told to stay at home--so that's what we're going to do.

I'll make one last big drop at UPS with the remaining Crystal Ball mods that I have, and then it's back to molding, sanding, painting, designing, pinball playing and anything else I can do to stay at home.

All of you above have been PM'd, and I'll be working hard to get the rest of them made.

But please remember, I’m making a toy. That's it. In the general scheme of things, it's really not that important. So for those of you who have been affected in any way by this virus, please don't feel bad or apologize if you have to drop out or postpone your purchase.

It's a toy.

And I’m not going anywhere.

If you’re stuck at home and feeling really bored you could always make a few more monkeys

And the same for You Steve. Take care of your wife and stay safe as your Primary Focus. There is No rush when it comes to a toy over loved ones. While little is really good about this new global event I have been blessed with extra time and love caring for my 3 year old granddaughter with CP. Having this extra time with her has given my wife and I a stronger appreciation of priorities and family. I wish you the same. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent with us.

On a sad chicken note...
Kenny Rogers has passed but left us some great chicken.

Food for thought: Do you think the original boxing for your "toys" will become collectable in 30 years? Such as the original box for a barbie.

Absolutley!

Although the boxes dont have the silver paint smear on them......YET!

Yes. But only if you keep it unopened.

Well That wouldn’t be any fun! Really impressed at how fast you tore through this highly detailed mod. Or your wife is making you live in the garage....lol

#3536 4 years ago

Thanks! I was actually working on them for a while before I made the list. It was supposed to be a side project with the witch, because a friend of mine is finalizing parts of that. So it's been keeping me busy. But now I have to start all over again to get the rest of them out (new molds, more plastic, sanding, etc), so that's gonna take a few weeks at least.

#3537 4 years ago

Got mine installed today. The quality of your work is unmatched in the mod industry! Thanks for the attention to detail and excellent work.

#3538 4 years ago

Thanks man! I'm really glad you like it. I think it turns that "no man's land" area of the playfield into something a lot more visually interesting. Plus, those videos are so neat when you can see them.

#3539 4 years ago

Steve, if you're bored during the lockdown and need something to do, a batch of monkey mods will certainly kill time!

#3540 4 years ago

I'm not bored.

#3541 4 years ago
Quoted from gouveia:

So for all those stranded at home doing honey do lists you could break protocol and batch another run of crystal ball beauties. Lol. Help us Steve it’s up to you to keep us all sane!

#3542 4 years ago

Installed and blown away. Really makes a huge difference.
One thing to note is my crystal ball touched the glass when I went to replace it. I do have plastic protectors installed which may be what caused this issue.
Once I remove the washers from below the mod it now just barely clears the glass. Another happy customer.

Not mod related but do you have some type of Blue mod lighting? My game looks very different in color. Not bad just curious.

#3544 4 years ago

Awesome! Looks great. Yeah, I don't know about plastic protectors, but without them the ball clears the glass by 1/4 inch or so. I think it looks really cool up higher. It stands out a lot more, and the pinball actually goes AROUND it now. I kept thinking of riding around this when I was making it.

You don't think I have "honey do" lists too?!?!

Someone's going to be finishing the list while re-painting the kitchen.

#3546 4 years ago

I think the lighting is mostly from my gameroom as opposed to the game.

I quadruple checked my connector, but it looks fine and my CB display is dead. I am wondering if my screwdriver maybe f'd up the back of the display board when I was inserting the screws of the display bracket into the new base.

Any ideas what to check (other than the connector)?

did you skip a post? you have to be careful or you can mis align the connector pretty easy. also, make sure the sd card is still in.

also, make sure the connector isnt upside down

I pushed the card and reinserted the card. I removed the ball from ther base so I can see the pins clearly. I've reinserted connector 10 times.

I don't know what happened. It was working but I removed it to readjust the bracket and when I put it back in, it didn't work anymore. Crap.
