Wow! You guys are still here! Awesome. Here's a few more details on the mod:
1.) I'm not done with the monkeys. So don't panic. I'm still working on those.
2.) You will not have to wait a year for this. 
3.) It's a joint project between me and someone else who's work is ridiculously good.
4.) I'm still working on mod #3. So we'll call this one mod #2.5.
5.) It is in my machine, and it will work with all machines.
6.) It is freakin' cool--and Jack really likes it.

Well now that we’ve got your attention, it's time to show you the mod!!!
I thought of this a while ago, but I’m pretty busy making monkeys and didn’t have the time to work on it. So I shared my idea with my very talented friend Lior because I knew he would knock it out of the park...and he definitely has! Although the idea and initial design is mine, it is definitely his mod. The work he has put into it is amazing and it came out exactly the way I was hoping and better!
We really appreciate everyone's excitement about signing up on a list and buying something they've never seen (or even knowing what it does for that matter). Unfortunately, the list won't officially open until it's on Lior’s thread and off of mine, as he will be taking orders, payments, handling the shipping, etc. I'm really excited to share with all of you our creation. I think it's a huge upgrade to the game.
One more thing: English is not Lior's first language, so there may be some communication difficulties. But he's a good guy with incredible talent. So please be patient and kind, pinside peeps! And now with that said, check this thing out!

I'm talking about the monkey list. I'm finally wrapping up that project. Once every monkey is accounted for, I'm moving on to the witch. So don't PM me yet regarding the witch because there isn't a list yet, and I'll make it very obvious for everyone when I start that list so you don't miss out if you want one.
And my God, I hope it doesn't take a year! haha. But I don't think I'm going to make 200 of anything at one time again.
Plus, I have to clean up the garage so my wife doesn't kill me before I destroy it again.

I'm not an expert on the electricity side of this, but I can offer one possible fix. The monkey I made doesn't have any contact with the game at all, so that isn't going to be the problem.
BUT...moving the door forward with the spacer can sometimes make the ball sit differently on the rollover switch behind the door (the castle ball lock switch), so the game can get confused if there is or isn't a ball there. You may have to bend the wire slightly up or to the side to make it trigger better when a ball is on it. Check it in the matrix switch test. Other than that, I would pass this off to pinballinreno or anyone else on this thread with more knowledge about it than me.

You are correct. Behind that strip it won't light up the monkey. But it looks like the led's are coming off a bit on the right. I'd put a touch of super glue on the end there so the wires don't hang down. And then pull it tighter up through the backbox to keep it more secure.

I edited the video every time someone made a good suggestion or improvement. After re-editing it over and over, I got tired of doing it. The thread actually covers everything in much better detail thanks to all of you guys. And honestly, 200 monkeys later, there shouldn’t be an “install” issue.
But you’re right. In hindsight, I should’ve made Ryan wear a chicken suit.

Indeed. It's been a sad week if you're a Rush fan. I've loved them since I was 10 years old. Alex is actually a friend of mine, so Neil's death hit pretty hard. I have a few friends who knew what he was going through these past few years, but most of us had no idea.
It's been amazing though, to see how many people he affected in some way or another. We lost a legend.

Thanks, everyone! I'm glad you like it. I'm really happy with how it turned out. The crystal ball base is actually pretty difficult to see in the movie, and there are only a few production stills of it. But I've had a toy sitting on my workbench for years that's pretty close, so I used that as a model and that was extremely helpful. Believe it or not, one of the most difficult parts was changing the angle of the TV so it can be seen better. That took a lot of work, but I got it dialed in and I'm really happy with it. I think it makes that corner of the game look “finished”, and you can actually see all of the projections now. Who knew there were so many! Haha. Plus, after all that pinstriping and detail painting of the monkey, it's nice to give my eyes a break and start working with an airbrush again. And there's no list or price yet, but that will happen in the next week or so.
And while I have your attention, Witch 2.0 is in full swing as well, and I can't wait to share it with you all. So details on that soon.

Here's a little more info on the angle. It looks like the original focal point of the ball was the centerpost between the flippers (in red). Unfortunately, to really see the images you have to move over to the right and down a bit. I changed the focus to the center of the lockdown bar. This way the images hit you straight on when you're playing the game. I'm roughly 5'9" and it looks great. But I've had friends who are 6'1" say it looks good, all the way down to my wife Tricia who is 5'6". The trick is using washers on the back post or the front. You can even raise the back post by unscrewing it a bit and get it even lower than that. So that's a pretty big spread.

Here's a few more details on my new mod. The mod does not include the actual crystal ball, because you'll be using the crystal ball in your machine. You'll need to simply remove the ball from it's plastic base. Detailed instructions will be sent to you when it's mailed. It's a pretty easy installation.
The mod will be $170 plus shipping. It's a handmade and hand-painted solid piece of resin. It does not shoot lasers.
The list is limited to 100.
If the demand is higher, I'll start a second list to make sure all of you who want one can get it. I expect to have them all sent out within the next eight weeks.
I'll post a picture on this thread and open the "OFFICIAL LIST" on Tuesday, February 25th at 12:00 PM Pacific Time (that's SoCal, San Diego time). Just write on the thread after the pic that you are "IN" or something like that and you're on the list. Pretty simple. So set your timepieces, accordingly.

This might be one of my favorite new things to see. I shoot for the yellow brick road all the time, and not once did I pay attention to this screen. The ball sits a little higher in the game as well, so the images look like they're floating. I think you guys are going to love it.

And to answer your question about safety, both Tricia and I are doing our best. My lovely wife has MS, so keeping her safe is my first priority. I generally only go to my small local UPS with a s***load of boxes at one time (much to the dismay of the poor guy who has to type all of the addresses, I'm sure), and keep my distance, wash my hands, etc.
We should all take this seriously, but not so serious that we can't have fun and keep clogging this thread with stupid chicken pictures.

Thanks! I was actually working on them for a while before I made the list. It was supposed to be a side project with the witch, because a friend of mine is finalizing parts of that. So it's been keeping me busy. But now I have to start all over again to get the rest of them out (new molds, more plastic, sanding,etc), so that's gonna take a few weeks at least.
Awesome! Looks great. Yeah, I don't know about plastic protectors, but without them the ball clears the glass by 1/4 inch or so. I think it looks really cool up higher. It stands out a lot more, and the pinball actually goes AROUND it now. I kept thinking of riding around this when I was making it.

Ah. The trees. There's a very in-depth discussion about them three years ago on this thread (post #236). Basically find a fake plant somewhere with leaves that look like apple trees (aquarium plants, reptile etc.) I've seen a lot at Hobby Lobby, but those are a loooong way from Paris.
Or just steal some from your mother-in-law's living room like I did.

Hello everyone! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy and relatively sane. The sun came out a few days ago, so I finally had a chance to finish painting and clear-coating all these little guys, so... the list is officially done! I'll be contacting those of you still waiting and hopefully getting the mods out to you this week.

This may happen to some of you. I don't know Gatordad's details, but a couple of people have used machines where it looks like the ball fell off and the previous owner glued it back on. So there might be a lot of glue. But I found something that worked really well for me. I set the ball in the base of this piece with Super Glue remover on it overnight. It turned gummy and I was able to get pretty much all of it off. (That's the spot right in the middle with the scratch). I imagine you could use foil or something like that to create a base like this one that would work equally well.

Yeah. I'm the only owner of my machine, so I have no idea what kind of glue is on others. But it worked well for me. Just be careful, because...

Soldered on a new one, tested, it works, avoided disaster again. Sanded out some scuffs on the ball with some 5000 grit and polished it up using some car polish, looks perfect. Install in the pin and it looks great. Well, that’s my install story anyway.

Hey Rennervision,
ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST!
Couple of things: Use some elbow grease and get that spot polished. Let it soak in Super Glue remover, or carefully use acetone. Use rubbing compound, Novus 3 and 2, toothpaste, 3000 grit sandpaper etc. But like Yelobird says, "take your time".
Second, it looks like your display screen is bent too far back. That's not the angle it should be sitting. Either you don't have it screwed down flush to the mod, or the screen itself is bent. That was the issue with Rai's mod earlier on the thread, so it's not uncommon, I guess. But fixing that angle will put more of the black spot underneath.

And the witch? Let’s just say I am pushing myself with this one. Lots of details that need to work well together. The prototype works perfectly, but I’m making sure I can duplicate it successfully. Plus I forgot how hard it is to work with clear resin. It’s hard!

Well, as most of you know, I had no intention of ever going back and making these. I thought I did a pretty good job the first time. But seeing shitty copies of it, and watching the real ones sell for WAY too much money, I figured I could make a few more. I still have the originals, so casting them isn't a big deal.
But...I've learned a LOT in four years--how to paint better, how to sculpt clay better, how to use lighting more effectively, and most importantly how to get help from others who know more than I do!
So before I just cast the same thing all over again, I wanted to fix some details. And in the process of doing that I made it better. Every detail, every good suggestion, and everything I ever wanted to do in the first place I've done.
In other words, it's F***ING rad and I can't wait to show you!

The red piece has a few changes to it but not many. I actually experimented with four or five new designs of it, but eventually I just cleaned up and detailed the original because I like the way it looks. Other than the witch, I didn't want to change it that much.
The big difference is underneath the mod.

I am second youngest of six kids. My dad was a commercial tuna fisherman and was gone most of the time at sea when I was younger, so my mom wrangled all of us by herself. One rule she had was that we all had very specific bedtimes, which were pretty much spaced thirty minutes apart.

In the last couple of years I have watched the witch and flying monkey scenes more times than I ever thought I would in a lifetime.

Tricia has MS, and she has far more important things to be concerned about besides pinball. When we met, I was working on the witch when I'd get home from work just for fun. But she encouraged me to put it out there. She gives me the space to keep creating, she helps me with lots of behind the scenes stuff, and she actually listens to me talk about pinball news that no one would give a shit about (or at least I think she's listening). hahaha.
On our honeymoon in Maui, we were in a souvenir shop when I got totally lost staring at this stupid little fish magnet with springs on it's fins. I was wondering how I could make that work for the monkey (it's on my workbench in some pictures on this thread). Tricia had no problem with that. She actually waited patiently as I kept staring at it. I eventually just bought it so I could stare at it later at home.
Plus, she agreed on this new house just so I'd have space in the garage to work and have a room to fit my pinball machines.
I mean, c'mon!!

The monkey was hands down, the hardest thing to figure out because there is absolutely no room to put a mod back there. But someone challenged me to do it, and that was all I needed to spend countless hours figuring it out. (and you helped a little. )

Thanks, guys. I haven't tried to fit the witch into the first mod, so I honestly don't know yet. The interior was widened and re-shaped. The biggest difference though is that she's painted with UV paint. So she won't look the same without blacklight.

Right now, I plan on making 50. If the demand is more than that, I'll consider making another list when I finish. This is a pretty complex mod, so I'm working on it with a good friend of mine here in town. And I don't want people who sign up to have to wait a year to get it.

For all of you waiting, I am sitting in front of my game making some notes and detailing the code as I write this. The video actually only shows one part of the lighting. And since the latest pinball trend is to ruin any sort of surprise or discovery and show you the entire new game on a stream (which I avoid and think is a terrible idea), I felt it would be more fun to let you see the rest of the light show in person.
But I will share a few things:
Yes, it's choreographed to the music. Yes, it's timed to the animation. And yes, a lot of it is completely random...
