Quoted from darkryder:

Received mine today as well, looks incredible! Are you guys trimming plastics or finding that's not necessary? I have a Maiden LE.

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you like it.

Regarding the plastic, the only other option I can see to not sanding down the edge is to somehow move the plastic slightly to the left and re-drill holes back there for the screws. It just hangs over the opto a bit too much, and I didn't want to make him smaller just for that. I actually don't use it anymore in my game and don't miss it.

#5952 11 months ago

Really really nice work Steve. I am so impressed by the quality of this guy. Well done sir!

IBTL....in before the list????

#5956 11 months ago

You're already in!

#5957 11 months ago

I have found that I definitely need the left ramp plastic installed. The ball gets some air going up that ramp and doesn't like to go into the sarcophagus lock without it. I just don't have a belt sander. Was going to try and sand it down by hand, unless you guys have a better idea?

#5958 11 months ago

Can you "score" it with an exacto blade? If you carefully cut back and forth enough times using a straight edge, it'll fall right off. You can then sand it down with fine grit sandpaper to make it smooth again. It'll work the same, just take a little longer. If you'd like, I can make a video showing you how.

I posted day 1 that I missed the initial list, but I don't know if that means I'm on the "backup list". If not, can I please request to get on this list?
Looks amazing.
Thank you.

Hey PinCrush,
Sorry I missed your post. I've got you on my list for this next round.

Good to know that works. I'll give that a try. Thanks!

Of course! Just take your time, and put a bunch of pieces of tape over the Icarus graphic to make a straight line. That way if your blade wanders, you won't screw the good side up.

But take your time and use a straight edge and a good sharp blade. And try practicing on a spare piece of plastic first.

Oh and did I say take your time?

#5963 11 months ago

I forgot about this. Duh...I've got one. It works great! Just use it like an exacto blade. You can find it at Lowe's or Home Depot for about 6 bucks.

Same here, fast shots ride high and doink off the diverter. I don't want to modify the old plastic so am making a new one from a sheet of lexan from home depot.

To help out If any of you guys need a replacement plastic instead of belt sanding the original let me know.
I can source a clear laser cut replacement for $14 it works out with the exchange rate at the moment.

Postage to the usa is $13 tracked or $7 untracked

#5966 11 months ago

Or as Sutol. Maybe he can get you one like the piece his friend made in post #5861.

I repurposed the yellow flasher that needs to be removed under the playfield. and used it for the Gus flasher on the top side of the playfield.

This is similar to what Steve suggested in his YouTube Gus install guide. But, instead of using a 1 or 2 SMD warm white bulb. I thought a 8 SMD yellow flasher would give Gus a very nice bright yellow glow….

#5974 11 months ago

That looks great! I actually used that bulb for awhile as well. It really brings out the gold.

My main problem with the white flasher is it's just too bright once you put Gus in there. It's obviously supposed to be a "Shoot at this thing" light because the original piece doesn't look like a sarcophagus at all. I remember my brother-in-law was playing it for the first time awhile ago, and when it said "Shoot the sarcophagus to open Pharoah's tomb" he was like "Where's that?! Where's that?". So I had to point to it and say it's that little boxey thing up there.

With Gus in there, it's pretty obvious where the sarcophagus is. I just think he looks better with a dimmer light, and the warm G.I. bulbs make the game look closer to Maiden's stage lighting.

#5975 11 months ago

Just finished installing Gus and then played the crap out of Maiden LE. I haven't played in over a year and after a few warm up games, I went on a tear and put up a new GC of 613M. The sarcophagus mod is just awesome, his red LED eyes really add to the effect! Going to order the staircase decals for the ramps and a few other goodies for this legendary game as it's been covered in dust for a while. I'm noticing significant flipper fade on long games, so also going to order the PinMonk cooling kit. My manual and auto plungers don't work for jack either, if someone has the stronger replacement coil part to fix that, please post it here. Thx

#5976 11 months ago

Awesome!! He looks great.

Yeah, that's what I meant earlier about him making you play better. There's just something more fun about hitting a physical toy with a "personality" as opposed to a boring captive ball. Plus hitting him over and over does a lot of good things for your score. And even if you miss him, you're still going to hit the spinners and loops and all that.

Really glad you like it! Thanks for the pics.

I agree, funny how I put up a new GC score right after installing Gus! It's definitely a lot more fun hitting the mummy shot now. Maiden is an absolutely incredible pinball machine, I never get sick of it. The insults from the beast are so damn funny. "Die will your balls gone" always puts a smile on my face, lol.

I have PinMonk anubis mod for my game I never installed as I'm not skilled with art/craft painting. If you feel like painting an anubis 3D mod, I can send it to you and pay you for your time. Been wanting to install it for a while now. I also have a set of bony flipper bats for Elvira HoH that are plain white and need to be colorwashed and painted.

#5978 11 months ago

Here is my Gus with a blue led strip triggered to the shaker, blue strips under the mech shining up that flashes with the eyes, and red spots.

#5979 11 months ago

I love it! I debated putting more light under there, but then figured with the matrix connector you guys could do that if you wanted. Blue looks pretty cool.

#5980 11 months ago

This mod makes my right ramp Egyptian archway mod look like total shit.... I've got to do something now. Would be awesome if it matched Gus' aesthetic.

#5981 11 months ago

Hahaha. Sorry about that. Glad you like it!

Hi, Are these still been sold or has it run to the hills yet?

I'd like to add a note about my experience with Steve.

Excellent communication throughout. Only once it was ready to go, did he asked for payment. Then, when I paid, I got a shipping tracking number a couple of hours later. Came expertly packaged with a thorough install video.

The quality of this mod is outstanding. It is a real work of art. Solidly built. Expertly painted. It just looks amazing.

But once you get it installed, its like the game comes to life. Mummy multiball is a new experience with Gus. The way he moves, the way the eyes glow and flash, the way the flasher flashes on Gus when you need to collect a Mummy MB jackpot. This is EXACTLY the way the game should have shipped. Its like the ball actually goes into a sarcophagus, not a bland piece of plastic.

If you are hesitating about ordering one, don't. You will regret not getting one later. Sure its a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for. QUALITY!!!

#5987 11 months ago

No.37 made it to the Uk this morning.
Amazing work steve. The thing that struck me the most is the height of it.
One thing I would echo to what Steve says in his install instructions is going to warm white for the Gi.
I did this a good year ago along with Twd and it makes both games really come alive.
Well worth the effort.

Gus made it over the pond! Thank you!

And yes. Warm white GI. You won’t regret it. In fact, I put a small piece of masking tape over the lights inside the pop bumpers and a strip over the leds behind the backglass as well. You can’t switch those out, and the tape works really well at warming up those lights just enough to match the rest of the playfield.

#5992 11 months ago

I’ll gladly be in the next batch please!

#5993 11 months ago

Amazing!

Installation instructions were straight forward and easy to understand.

A beautiful center piece for IMDN.

Another awesome mod from the great G.

PM sent. Just found out about this mod. This is really going to make this pin Pop (like it needs help)

Hey everyone!

I've got quite a few more Guses (Gus's? Gus'? Sarcophagi? Sarcophaguys?) to make, so I decided to get all of the dirty work done first. I finally have enough parts cast and sanded and drilled to get things started up again. And I won't be painting all of them at once this time around, so I can focus on smaller groups and get them out to you quicker. I've also got a bunch of PM's I haven't gotten around to yet so I apologize for that. I'll definitely get back to you today.

Thanks again for all your nice comments and May the 4th be with you!

I've had a couple people now order my new hammer mod without actually owning a Metallica. Which I really appreciate, don't get me wrong, but it's slightly crazy behavior.

And ... I'm starting to understand it now, because I don't own an Iron Maiden and I have this irrational urge to have this mod. It looks spectacular, really top notch work.

With everyone and their uncle—and their uncle's "teams"—pumping out mods these days it's hard to stand out. But the quality work that fills a true need really rises to the top, and this is clearly that.

#6000 10 months ago

Hey Aurich!

Thanks for such a nice post man! I don't know if you remember, but I met you briefly up at Chris' house years ago at a tournament. You were really helpful with some questions I had when I made my first witch. I remember calling you the hammer guy once I realized who you were, even though you've obviously done other things I learned about later. Very cool to see you making them again. They look awesome.

For the rest of you, I only have a few slots open until I close the list again. I cast another forty pieces so that's all I have. It actually took me a little time to get back into the groove, but I'm happy to say that #41 sure looks a lot like numbers 1-40. So at least I know I can still do it.

For those of you new to the thread, the mod is $550. I do the whole thing by hand, so it will take some time to get it to you. And I don't ask for payment until I actually have something to sell you, so no money up front. I'll send you a PM when it's ready and you can pay me then. If I don't hear from you for a couple of weeks or so, I move on to the next person on the list. Pretty simple.

So thanks for your patience everyone. More sarcophaguys coming soon!

Steve
