His monkey stories were some of the best stuff on Pinside. I kinda hoped he would get a monkey and then continue the stories as adventures with the monkey or stories told from the monkey’s point of view (being put up for sale, transit in the postal system, etc).

It looks to be the case. Its higher quality than many Stern Toppers at the same price! Remember the hands craftsmanship involved in the sculpting and painting.

As mentioned I'm not questioning the craftsmanship involved, though it is hard to tell the extent of the quality with the limited pics/details. I work in the arts, so I'm loathe to question anothers time/skill.

Or you can get the $425 T-Rex head for JP that does nothing. This one at least as electronics integrated and a ridiculously detailed paint job. Seems about right to me. Handmade art that isn't 3D printed takes a lot more time and talent...and you pay for the quality.
But it doesn't matter: it'll sell out quickly anyway, and he deserves every penny for his hard work.

I second everything you said .I can’t imagine how much time not only went into the creation ,but then to duplicate the work time and time again .Besides , IMDN now has a bash toy !! Priceless 
I’ll say this.
I tried like hell to get one of those 3D printed King Eddie heads. Finally found one.
I’m getting to my point.
Now, having painted that King Eddie bust,
I have gained a much more comprehensive appreciation for the time, detail, & effort that goes into hand painting. And the bust I’m talking about is BIG, so “easy” to paint.

Looks to me to be very highly detailed, intricate and integrated.
Does the price scare me? Yes.
(Try converting it to CDN funds it’s even scarier)
