this guy recreated the layout into a PLAYABLE test in Visual Pinball.. may be the closest people get to playing it for a while

#5 11 years ago

Wow, that's crazy. Already? Dang, wang.

I have yet to be able to get VP to work

#7 11 years ago

if you go to vpforums.org and click on the "Getting Started" tab towards the top left of the page you should be able to get it going..

#9 11 years ago

SWEET! Now I just need to finish my damn cabinet!

Follow this guide and you will get it working.

I believe this is the first time a virtual one preceded the real thing. Wonder how JJ feels about this?

Getting any specific errors? If you are running in win7 be sure to set it to run as admin and under xp so3 compatibility mode.

#13 11 years ago

Aren't there supposed to be 2 flippers on the left playfield??

#15 11 years ago

Now we just need cabinets to put it in.

And chocky is correct kwiki both upper PF are only 1 flipper each.

I will download this once complete to play on my Hyper but wish the real deal would get here already.

Flattered I would imagine...

Could somebody possibly make a Youtube video of this in action? Or, give me a link to a quick start guide for Ubuntu users?

#18 11 years ago

actually, this will probably help jack more than anything. Some people play games on VP first to see if they like them. If WOZ is fun, it will boost sales, if the VP version does it justice.

#19 11 years ago

crap I would try this but my virtual pin setup is packed away :/

#20 11 years ago

VP and vpinmame only work on MS windows machines (XP and windows 7), or macs running a windows emulator.

Somebody asked Jack and he said he had nothing to do with that and nobody asked about doing it. Does not sound like he minds but they will have to change the rules and shots once they actually figure out what they are.

We shall see how they get the rom or rules...if they can pull them or if they have to create them themselves. I get the whole copy write issue, but it also isn't being "sold" to make a profit....But it is great for people who just cannot afford or can find machines in the wild...AND we all know they do not play like a real pin...god real pins play so much better

I would like to think that pinmame will not emulate any pinball machine that is in production. Nobody wants a manufacture to think that they might have lost sales due to an emulater. We all want this hobby and manufactures to strive.

Relax, there are no rules, no DMD, LCD effects, no rom, nothing. Its just a table to try out the shots to the upper PFs, kickers, etc. The ball drains and pops back into the shooter again and again. If anything it generates interest for the real game.

Same here!! Maybe I haven't spent enough time with it... But Jeeeezzz.... what a frustrating process!!

I see the links now... I'll try those...

Yes.
It is just a practice table and nothing more.
No reason at all to worry about illegal game emulation.
It plays very well on my cabinet. I will try and take some photos tonight.
I am going to add a backglass to it as well.

#27 11 years ago

Here it is running on my cabinet.
Nice to be able to try out the different shots.

Now that's pretty cool, even if it is just something to mess with.

Reminds me of space balls when the movie is out before they are done filming
