Here's a mod I came up with for my WOZ.

I didn't care much for the glowing edges of the laser-etched wizard, so I made a cover that mostly hides those edges.

If anyone is interested, I can make a bunch.

The price would be $36 shipped continental U.S.Dsc_9391.jpgDsc_9391.jpgDsc_9392.jpgDsc_9392.jpgDsc_9393.jpgDsc_9393.jpgDsc_9394.jpgDsc_9394.jpgDSC_9395.JPGDSC_9395.JPG

Thanks Eddie,

Wait until you see the new version.

Hoping to post pictures tomorrow, A little more time consuming to make, but it will a lot better than this first run.

***UPDATE***

I'm still working on this.

I'm running the first batch now. I should have pics posted tomorrow.

I really think you'll like the new version...BUT, the price is going to increase to $36, shipped continental U.S.

I put a lot of effort/time into making something that doesn't have the appearance of being and "add-on". I want something that blends in well with the beautiful WOZ playfield.

I think I've accomplished this.

New pics coming as soon as the first batch is done.

I really think you're going to like it.

Quoted from jamieflowers:

are these 3d printed or molded?

Neither...

I machine them out of a block of black Delrin (acetal).

CNC machined.

#11 9 years ago

Thanks Aurich,

The surface finish on these are nice.

I've been cnc machining plastics/metals for over 30 years, (have been a one-man operation for the last 25 years).

I mostly design/manufacture medical stuff.

I love my WOZECLE.

I think Joe @ Laserriffic did a great job with the laser cutting/etching.

After playing a ton of games on my WOZ, I noticed how distracting the wizard acrylic piece was with its' brightly glowing edges.

I've designed/machined a shroud that covers those brightly lit edges.

I tried my best to come up with something that wouldn't look like an "add-on".

I think I've accomplished it.

The shroud is cnc machined from a block of black Delrin, (acetal). The front of the shroud wraps around the front face of the laser etched acrylic. This helps hide all of the lit edges. The edges have also has beveled edges that really add to the aesthetics.

It's very hard to take a good picture of this but here are a few.

I've run the first batch of these and they are ready to ship. These will come with new mounting hardware, (4-40x5/8 socket head cap screws and nylon lock nuts).

Price: $36 shipped, continental U.S.

Please contact me at [email protected] if you're interested.

I really think this looks great on the machine....It gives that particular area that "finished look".

Quoted from redmamanora:

Received and installed my throne room mod today. This is a high quality item that gives a "finished look" to the Wizard for sure. I think it adds to the quality of the game.

Thank you.

I really appreciate the feedback.

This mod might not be for everyone. The reason I made it was...I thought the glowing edges take something away from the LED light show that WOZ is. It's hard to see the improvement of the wizard head w/o the mod installed, but I really think it's an improvement.

#18 9 years ago

Thanks Lloyd

I think it's an improvement. It really looks good on the machine.

Quoted from Aurich:

Maybe a pic with the light off? It should look just pretty black no?

With the light off, you can still see the laser etched wizard head, just not as well as you can when it's lit.

#29 9 years ago
Quoted from sc204:

Just got one and the quality of the machining is real nice. Hopefully I will get it installed today.

Thanks sc204

I've been a machinist/engineer for 30+ years...the last 25 years I've been a one-man shop. Not many of us pinball hobbyist can say they have their own machine shop. It comes in handy sometimes...LOL

Bump

I've sold quite a few of these.

Is anyone else interested?

#33 9 years ago
Quoted from B9:

Just installed and I really like it

Thanks,

I really think it dresses up that area of the playfield. To me, the lit edges of the acrylic just seemed out of place in comparison to the LED light show on the playfield.

another bump.

Everyone seems to like this mod.

Sure can use some more reviews from those that have bought this.

Thanks guys

#44 9 years ago

Pen,

It's nearly impossible to get plastic plate material in colors, especially translucent.

Colored transparent plate can be found, bit is usually limited to 1/4 inch thickness of less and is Acrylic, which is too brittle to be inside a pinball machine.

Delrin comes in white, (natural) and Black, (same as white but has a pigment in it).

I could have gone with PVC, but the machines finish isn't as nice, and I don't care for the gray color.

Quoted from beelzeboob:

Bump for a terrific mod. The only thing that makes this mod even better is when it's used in tandem with the Mezel fire pots. Really wonderful work by both modders!

Thanks beelzeboob

#78 9 years ago

It's even nicer if you replace the stand-off with a shorter one on the spotlight directly behind the throne room.

The throne room shroud hides the spot light.

#80 9 years ago

Shipped already.

#82 9 years ago

I only have one left from the 1st batch.

I plan on having the next batch ready soon.

Thanks for the good review toro.

I agree, I think it really makes a big difference.

#88 9 years ago
Quoted from Half_Life:

Installed the mod today. WOW! A huge difference in appearance for that area. Absolute perfect fit with no issues. This mod should have been a factory piece, it's that good.

Nicely done, Tim. Thank you!

Thank you very much for the kind words.

Do you know if the Mezel Mod that has 2 goblets/fire work with this mod?

Yes, Tim Mezel asked if I could send my mod to him just so he can design his mod around mine.

Though I don't have his mod on my pin, I hear it looks great.

Quoted from dmacy:

These are a great addition! Thanks Indy. They're the finishing touch and look better with the flame pots (Awaiting mine).

Thank you very much for the compliment...much appreciated.

Glad you like it....now get on that Getaway PF swap so you can see what my stoplight mod looks like...LOL

Thanks Lloyd...

Doug said that you had made a comment that you weren't a big fan of mods, but really liked my throne room cover.

Glad you like it Lloyd....merry Christmas!!!

Thanks to everyone else who've purchased these....

I've sold quite a few.

I'm glad everyone seems to like it.

My guess is you'll have to remove the torch mod.

The hardware that I ship w/ the cover allows you to mount both mods together, (from what I'm told). I don't have the torch mod on my WOZ.
