Does anyone know why there are some images and videos of WOZ having the side rails with the flipper protectors built in. Is this an option you can purchase?

I believe those are beta units. Shipping games don't have them. Just regular b/w style rails.

That's too bad, I really like the look of the side rails with the button protectors. Thanks for the answer.

Remember, the cabinet is clear coated and less prone to wear so no need for the extra protection.
Plus, you can see more of the cabinet art without them.

I guess it's a matter of taste, but I dislike the rails with the button protectors, just don't like the look of them. I do however realize they were a necessary evil to protect Stern cabinets. I'm glad JJP went a different route, but I guess only time will tell how they hold up!!

my understanding is LE does, and no LE's won't / don't

JJP decided not to do the lollipop style because they realized they did not need any more protection once they decided to clearcoat the cabinet.

I like the look of the straight line better than the "Stern" lollipop (I like that description) look.

I prefer he keeps it there. Would like to know how the new finish stands up to sunlight!

edit: apparently i was a little too late on my reply

Wow! I never noticed it before but yeah it does look awesome. Also congrats to jamaster10 for having his demo machine being shouted out by JJP on Facebook. It is a pretty awesome setup.
