Yeah, having to read this thread every time someone adds themselves to the list is lame. Definitely should be done outside the threads, gouveia take note!

Umm... that's easily accomplished in MANY other ways than a bunk copy/paste tedium and thread reloading. It clutters up the thread, people always ask where they are in line, etc. Just have a link to an external source, one location, not in the thread, no copy pasta, etc. It's far from a "homebrew" project. Dude's a pro.

Same reason putting Ascii characters in my titles mattered to other people, it's annoying. I think most people would want to read the thread to get information and updates on the mod, not be notified each time someone adds their name to the list. You use the same method, hence the tag. Makes it hard to follow your threads as well when the flurry of posting takes place for list signups. Then the repeated "look back on page #### where I put myself on the list" ad nauseam. In this day and age we don't have a better way to let people sign up, in order? A google form would easily give the same functionality without the repeated, unnecessary posting.

Not to mention the repeated "add me to the list" when there is no list to add to. After you've closed the lists, etc. It's just not a great way to manage this kind of thing.

Or... I could voice my contention and let the owners of the threads decide and others can chime in as well. That seems like it is the point of a discussion forum, maybe I'm mistaken.

People were in a big uproar over pinstadium threads where he kept posting over and over to bump the thread to the top. This seems very similar, an unnecessary reason to clutter and confuse the thread, bump it erroneously, when there are entirely better, easier and cleaner ways to handle it. I thought I gave specific reasons and examples of why it was troublesome and bothersome, but let's not talk about those. Certainly don't change because something is better or easier or cleaner.

It's like with all the technology we have you hung up a piece of paper on a clip board outside the theater for show audition signups. There is literally no downside. Nothing is lost by it not being here, it's centralized, manages itself. People can see where they are in the list. SMH... do whatever you want to do obviously, I just can't believe you can't see the obvious benefits all around.

I have nothing more to say on it. But I also feel that if others want to chime in then it should be an open discussion. It's what makes pinside great, being able to have this kind of back and forth. I'll go start a thread where we can discuss the merits of in thread pre-orders.
