Jack has just confirmed internet connectivity which AFAIK was just a possibility until now. Hopefully we'll have more details on what it'll be used for soon.
I know it's been discussed before but what do you hope to see it used for besides updates?

Online turn-by-turn play, score races, and leaderboards. Although it would be WAY too easy to cheat... much easier than a video game. It would be cool to send the DMD data while you play for the other person to watch while he waits his turn.
I talked to Jack at the Ohio Pinball Show and it is definitely software updates but also video updates to the LCD via wifi
Wifi in a pinball machine?... AWESOME
I can't wait for the day to walk into Starbucks with my pinball machine. People look at you funny then you go "Hey! I'm just here to use the wifi." Sweet!!
Way to rez an old thread. The code is in the game already to support it. The external infrastructure is being built. Have to do it in such a way that it supports the new features in The hobbit as well.

Sounds gooood
Quoted from B9:You can connect WOZ Ethernet port to your home network and get an IP address
Truth.
You could also update the game via wifi even alert you when new code and if you want to update, or play a tournament in network with friends, I think it would take another technological leap in pinball and equal to some of the functionality of consoles, anxiously hope these improvements-
Would be awesome to setup a camera on pf's and play a two player with guys with similar setup a elsewhere. Reminds me of emailing back in 1985. Ah, simpler times.
Yes, that WAS a compliment.
Quoted from SilverBallz:People still care about WOZ? It's so 2012.
So 2012? Yeah, an LCD in a pinball machine is so 2012. Ever since Stern also changed to LCD displays...oh wait...

I really hope we never see pinball competition over the Internet. I've never played two different copies of a game that felt identical. We all set up our games differently. I have friends that own the same game I do, yet they play different. They came out of the same factory but one may be easier or harder. Heck even my own games change over time. Sometimes my BSD is reasonable and others I'll keep it nasty for months. I wouldn't want to play against somebody with half a degree less pitch or closed down outlanes. It would just never seem fair.
