Can you all help with recommendations on where to buy one new for a great price, BUT with confirmed great service after the sell? I'm especially looking for excellent tech support because this would be my first pin. Lastly, if you know someone who is sadly having to sell their 75th Anniversary (only one I want) then are they a reliable seller? I SOOOOOoOO want to join this forum!

I just remodeled my office into a man cave yesterday by closing in a wall for this pin!

#1018 8 years ago
Quoted from konghusker:

From my recent search, it looks like dealers are all pretty consistent on price. I only found one dealer offer a RR at 9k shopped (automated services). Most were 9.25-9.5k and didn't figure in shipping. With stern, my Metallica search rendered a much bigger fluctuation in price when calling around.

How long ago was this $9,000 price with shipping?

I posted here about 9 months ago lamenting how I wish I could join your club sight! I"ve been dreaming of the day that I could make this post. I'm buying my first pin next week after saving my cash for about a year. MY first pin will be....(well you know already....) WoZ RR 75th! Whey do you ask is my first pin going to be WoZ, because it's the most incredible pin I've ever played in 35+ years of playing pins!
A couple of you that I've gotten to know have already given me some great advice in anticipation of my pin, but:

PLEASE help answer these questions, or make comments.

what recommendations do you have for someone's first pin un-crating?
What that carnuba wax you buy to wax the play field?
I need Cliffy protectors?
I got a surge protector already (very expensive one).
Sprakle glass cleaner coming
I need a tool set. There is some company out of Atlanta that has a great deal on a ratchet set. Anyone know who they are?
I need screws, bolts, washer set.

What else do I need?

Quoted from B9:

Achieved my new high score tonight with 800k points from Haunted Multiball alone
WOZ is so addictive I can't stop playing it

I'm brand new to this forum, and will be getting my WoZ next week. I wanted to say that nobody in my area has gotten even close to your score. Congrats!

Quoted from TaylorVA:

You will want plastic protectors or at least fender washers for your slingshot plastics.
JJP recommends a detailing polish called Wizard's Mist-n-shine that is great for wiping down the playfield and will make the ball fly.

This is correct. I talked to JJ today via email and they do use it for cleaning and polishing their play fields and parts prior to shipment. Here it is and this is the best price anywhere;

Well the along awaited day has finally come! I'm now a pin owner and my first pin was a WoZ RR! Thanks very much to my friend Bill who was very thoughtful to teach me the proper way to uncrate a pin and get it set up! Man what a huge blessing it is from God to own the greatest pin ever created! It's hard to believe that this master piece is sitting in my game room.

Quoted from mountaingamer:

I'm pretty over the top passionate about Apple Inc, their products, and the whole Steve Jobs story. When I tell people about WOZ, I compare it to the first time I ever saw an IPhone. I was at a casino in Vegas, and a guy sat at our poker table with the new Iphone that just launched that day. He was playing with it, then passed it around the table for everyone to see. Such a revolutionary device compared to my Razor! So much cooler than just a phone, it was really amazing. WOZ reminds me of that day!

This is very similar to how I feel when I first saw WoZ. It was actually 2 years ago and I was at the Pinball Museum Hall of Fame (HoF). I stood there and watched two guys playing the game, but unfortunately I never got the chance to play. The game looked and seemed to play SO different from any of the other couple hundred pins that were there. Fast forward almost a year later and here I stand in my new friend's game room and there it sits again. I remember thinking, "Hey I remember this game at the HoF!" When I got to finally play it (There was a line to play it again), I had such an amazing experience, that I did whatever I had to do to buy it. I sold furniture, 2 of my 3 arcade games, dozens of items from my other hobby, stock, etc to get a RR a year later!

I tell you all this to state the following: JJ Pins are the 4TH GENERATION OF PINBALL! The first generation was EM, second generation SS, third generation was Dot Matrix, and now we have the fourth generation, WoZ & The Hobbit. JJ has changed pinball forever.

#2285 7 years ago
Quoted from DaveH:

Sure. On the rescue playfield there are shots to all 6 targets, the doors, and the search loop. On my game, I slam it into the search loop, and instead of going around it seems to go into the loop around an inch, and then chatters right back out of it. We all are calling it a reject because most of the time that loop just kicks the ball back out the entrance of the loop. It is VERY frustrating, but I'm really psyched to try this fix of bending that wireform just a bit. I don't think it is a design issue, just a minor implementation issue.

Hey guys please help a new pin owner who has their first pin. I've only owned my WoZ for 2 days, and I'm reading this entire thread. I've encountered many posts that I really don't understand like this one. I may likely be in the low minority of readers who are so new to pin ownership, that I don't understand a lot of the pin terminology or acronyms. It's a bummer that some of the comments use acronyms or terminology that only the educated understand.

What does this quoted post mean? Is there a screen shot anywhere of this issue? Where is the WoZ forum that shows vids/ screen shots for fixes at?

#2288 7 years ago
Quoted from Vyzer2:

Interesting. I wouldn't think I would like the clear but they do look good. Do you have a count and a breakdown of all that is needed? Would be appreciated.

This idea does look really cool. Has anyone made a complete list of rubbers needed, except for the flippers? I'm thinking about doing this and the original poster of this idea is no longer active.

#2301 7 years ago
Quoted from oohlou:

That is awesome. It is a great idea to allow user's to design kits like that.

Holy CRAP! I was just fixing to contact Eric at Titan, because I ordered the wrong type of rubbers. I was going to ask him to instead send all the clear rubbers for my WoZ. I don't own the paper manual yet, and have the PDF from JJ up on my screen. This list makes it much easier for me! Much easier indeed! Thanks so much for this post!

I've seen a couple comments about this expensive LED light kit. Can I get some more comments on those of you that have seen it installed?
http://pinballbulbs.com/products/wizard-oz-pinball-illumination-kit-woz

$130 is a lot for this but it does seem to add some more "pop" to the play field. I would like to be able to see more detail in the play field.

#2313 7 years ago
Quoted from wtatumjr:

I don't remember the settings but I cut down the pops a lot and state fair a little. The game is much quieter now and I haven't noticed a difference in ball speed exiting the bumpers. Also you don't get the feeling the ball is being forced through the playfield.

Can you or anyone else elaborate on the noise of the game? My pin is in my game room which is a half wall which is connected to my living room, dining room, and next to my kitchen. I need to make the game much quieter without affecting game play. Can someone give me some advice please?

Wizard Mode: Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Collect all 8 Jewels to light SOTR at the ramp. The 8 jewels that must be collected are listed below and method of collection described in more detail above.
 Complete Wicked Witch Battle (liquidate the wicked witch)
 Master Fireball Frenzy (collect 10 jackpots)
 Start Munchkin Multiball (play all munchkin modes)
 Travel the Yellow Brick Road (advance 50 times)
 Complete Emerald City Multiball (collect 3 gifts)
 Start Flipper Frenzy (play all crystal ball modes)
 Complete Rescue Multiball (score a mega jackpot)
 Start Haunted Forest Multiball (play all haunted modes)
After starting SOTR at the ramp the ball will be stopped so you can be given instructions on how to proceed. The instructions are given in dramatic fashion as:
 3 rainbows lit on castle, shots, & targets
 Color value goes up each shot

Wow! Is this the most helpful instructions I've seen. If you made this then man I'm bow to your greatness! *bow-bow-bow*. If this is a reprint from the WoZ manual then thanks for the reprint. My manual is enroute. I've only owned my WoZ for 4 days and trying to learn the rules, so this info will be immensely helpful.

Thanks. I did make the 2nd and 3rd pages (thus they are unofficial but I believe to be 100% accurate). JJP made the first image/page.

I've had time to read some of it, and will be devouring the rest tomorrow morning. I want to thank you again, because these instructions and gaming tips are so well thought out, plus very well referenced with photos. Thank you!

As many of you will recall my first ever pin purchase was 9 days ago. I adjusted some of the settings to an easier mode mainly for my wife and disabled son. I posted a pic of my score after 3 balls and then after the game was finished with 5 balls! Well I wish I knew exactly what I did to soar my score up a 1,000,000 points within 3 minutes. I'm fairly certain that I had several goals stacked during multiball. What a fun game to own for my first pin!

Nice score! Usually when I hit those kinds of numbers its from a great munchkin mode along with a multiball and a HOADC multiplyer. Its awarded as a bonus so watch for it there and whatever you do don't tilt

Thanks for the compliment and info!

SHOW ME YOURRR... flipper band, shooter band, and post colors please! I have an order in the cue with Eric, and would love to see your artistic flair! I saw some nice flipper colors above and would really enjoy seeing some more color choices! Just a reminder, that I've only owned my RR WoZ for 2 weeks, and it's my first pin purchase, so PLEASE take a moment to SHOW OFF your WoZ!

#2426 7 years ago
Quoted from delt31:

For RR owners - anyones toto toy sometimes interfere with the shooting lane/ball? Had it happen a few times.

Not yet but I've only owned mine 2 weeks. FYI, the archway on the upper deck did a lot, so after adjusting it 3 times it now works wells.

#2427 7 years ago
Quoted from merccat:

Try shooting with the toy off. Ball instability is pretty common even on machines without the toto toy. I put up some slow motion videos showing how if the balls trajectory is not absolutely perfect going into the shooter lane ramp it will not make it around the orbit, instead hitting the wall and bouncing around under munchkin land.
Lots of therories and possible solutions in this thread. To summarize:
- replace shooter tip
- make sure playfield centered
- general randomness
- add some felt before and after HOADC.. i tried soft felt which seems to have improved things but not completely. Going to try stiffer felt next.

Yea, I'm not able to get any consistency with my plunger shots that's for sure. The Toto Toy doesn't seem to interfere at all though.

Quoted from pballinhd:

Glow in the dark posts in the witch castle look nice.

Outlane posts yellow pop next to TOTO lettering.
Haunted Forest all matching purple slings, posts ...

#2468 7 years ago

The castle right door is occasionally cracked slightly, and when it is it allows the ball to enter. When this happens the ball doesn't register until WoZ "finds" the missing ball about 30 seconds later. How do I adjust the door, or is it some other setting I need to adjust or a couple of different settings?

Lastly, I've owned my WoZ for only two weeks and I've noticed that the Invisiglass has several hundred very tiny scratch like marks all through the glass? These marks are very hard to see from a distance, and only noticeable when the looking a couple inches away from the glass. I've only used Sparkle Glass (non-ammonia based) cleaner, and a brand new micro-fibre cloth every time I wiped down the glass, so there isn't any chance I've used the wrong glass cleaner or scratched the glass. Is there something wrong with the glass or is this some type of manufacturing process to make the glass non-reflective?

#2483 7 years ago
Quoted from Eskaybee:

I had this issue with mine too; it would happen a few times a week. To correct, I put a small sliver of drop dead ball foam on the other door to help prevent the ball from getting through. The only way for the ball to get past the right door now if it loosens up is a hard hit which will put the ball in scoop, which in turn spits it back out.

Additionally, if anyone has the ball drop off the monkey/castle lock, a piece of drop dead ball foam does wonders for it too! I have not had a single ball drop off since putting it there.

Are you referring to the small piece of black foam in the picture? Is there a fix in the settings to make the door close "harder"? I did a check in the settings and the door closes and opens just fine, just like the spinning house, monkey losing up and down, and other movable objects.

3) NEW UPDATE: The background sound of the characters talking also goes in and out frequently, while the other sounds are always playing fine.
I was really hoping for some advice on these issues since my game is only 3 weeks old. I did submit a support ticket with JJ just to ensure there was a history with these issues.

#2503 7 years ago
Quoted from merccat:

Gorf, please call JJP when you have a chance. I think we have all experienced the inefficiency of their online ticket system, it seems to eat issues and you will never hear back. You will get immediate and through service by calling and speaking with them over the phone.
Shippers are not kind to these games. They get slammed, bumped, droped and vibrated for hours on end on their way to you. Some issues as a result of that are normal and JJP does a wonderful job of getting it all sorted out... when you call.
FYI: i sometimes experience the same thing with my castle door, but it takes a good solid hit. If it were happening frequently i would turn down the power to that flipper.
Also some audio tearing does happen. I think it was worse in earlier versions of the software... but what your describing sounds different than simple audio tearing?

Thanks for the recommendation to call JJ. Their IT did reply back right away to all 3 support tickets. I then replied back stating that I'm a "newb" at this and don't understand their instructions for repairing my game. NOTE: then (maybe their head IT guy) replied back this past Monday with a phone call, which is what I requested, which was the day after the Chicago pinball conference. I was very impressed I heard from someone so soon after their biggest con of the year! I will return his call today, since I'm now back in town.

WoZ is my first pin purchase, so is there a video on how to change WoZ rubbers/rings? I have about 40-50 new colors to put on, and I want to include before/after pics, because you all were very helpful! Maybe I can also help someone else out who wants to add some color to their game too.

#2508 7 years ago
Quoted from pinballinreno:

Some of the rubber is very easy to replace.
Others require removing assembles. Be patient and take your time.
Use new tools: Klein long magnetic nut drivers and screw drivers are worth every penny.
Get a small magnetic bowl to put small parts in and stick it to the lock-down bar receiver.
Get a small flexible magnetic retrieval tool to save hours of work getting dropped screws or washers.
Place a terrycloth shop rag or towel on the playfield area you are working on in case of a dropped tool or small part.
Be methodical. Work in sections. There is no quick way to do this.
Clean and wax uncovered areas when you get to them, your playfield will thank you later.
Take pictures and note the size of the rubber you removed, its molded into each ring. Use the exact replacement size when replacing.
If in doubt refer to the manual.

Thank you for the great advice and I will have to see who sells a magnetic bowl. I have most of the other parts you mentioned including the magnetic retrieval tool. I don't have the Klein magnetic nut drivers, but a non-magnetic long driver set from Titan Pinball that's very good quality but inexpensive. I did get a clip (with foam on the clips) on LED light from Lowes for $20, and I do use a brand new terrycloth towel every time I clean the glass or do any other work. You can get a pack of 50 towels on Amazon for $25, so towels for the playfield are easy.

The rubbers all came from https://www.titanpinball.com. I've been so very impressed with how the owner, Eric, has been very patient and helpful with my orders. The service couldn't be any better.

In your first picture, it looks like your slingshot rubbers are not mounted low enough on the flipper side.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did find a flipper rubber that was to high! I also stretched one sling shot rubber because it kept bumping after the pinball would leave.

My Winkie target is down for the count and my game is only 5 weeks old. The target has not popped up for a week, so it's stuck in the down position. There aren't any other errors with the game that are relevant to this issue.

I'm brand new to pin ownership and feel over whelmed since just opening the play field is intimidating. Is there a kind soul out there who can give me specific instructions on what to do?

I've filed a support ticket with JJ, and already got an auto email reply saying they got my support request.

#2603 7 years ago
Quoted from Nokoro:

Go into switch test mode and see if the switch for the Winkie is registering. Mine came loose. It is easy to fix if so. When the target is down, it presses on a switch so the game knows it is down. If it is not making good contact, the game will not think it is down and will not reset. Push the switch up and tighten the screw securing it in place so good contact is made.
If the switch is registering, go into coil test mode and see if the coil fires.

I wish I knew how to do this, because JJ tech support said the same thing. This is my first pin so my knowledge is lacking.

#2604 7 years ago
Quoted from bhwolf:

This one is probably easy, happened on mine. There's a switch on the bottom of the target that detects whether the winkie is up or down. When down, a little tab on the target presses down on the switch. Most likely, you'll just need to bend switch leaf up a bit so the target pushes on it a bit more. Alternatively, it could be a bad switch or wire worked loose. Go into the test for coils, and find the winkie target reset (up) test, and see if that resets it.
The very first time you open a playfield is pretty intimidating, but it's easy and, get used to it. Despite having a little flap to protect the balls in the trough, remove them. I wonder if there's a video of lifting the playfield as that's the easiest place to start? Try to keep the playfield straight as it's easy for things to catch on the sides...

I've lifted the play field and did my best to look for loose wires. I don't see any. I read my owners manual and emailed back and forth with JJ tech support. JJ tech support replied within 3 minutes of my submitted ticket.

"If your switch is still on. Then please go to Tests - Switches - Matrixed and push the drop target up and knock it down, see if it registers on the screen." I go to the Matrixed Switches screen and there isn't any instructions on how to go to a specific grid, nor does the printed manual explain, "you can manually test as many switches as you like."
How do you push the target up and down?

I've got some SERIOUS comments about JJP and Automated Services. My game had several issues and JJP (Frank & Jack) decided to SEND A TECH to my home to fix the several mechanical issues at JJP's costs. The repair was $600, but my WoZ RR broke with one of the same issues two days later.

Mike (owner of Automated Services), Jack, and Frank (head of JJP production) quickly decided to SEND ME A NEW WoZ RR at their expense, PLUS pick up my old one, PLUS set up my new WoZ all at their expense!!

DID YOU GET ALL THAT? They;

Spent $600 to try and fix my game. (Labor has never been covered under warranty).
Picked up my old game
Delivered my new game WoZ and set it up
AND allowed me to keep game number 42 on my new WoZ!

I've had my new "2nd production" WoZ (has new LED light kit) for 6 months and no issues.

Why am I telling you all this, because Automated Services (the distributor I got the game from), and JJP understand and are VERY willing to help out their customers with legitimate issues. I will ONLY buy any new games from Mike at Automated Services! He delivered on every promise he made BEFORE I had to remind him!
