So I was looking under my playfield yesterday and noticed this cable unplugged and the Red and the Vio inputs are both free.
It looks like it belong in the Red slot but should there also be one for Violet? What does this board do anyway? There doesn't seem to be any problem that I can see with it unplugged.

Thanks, actually it is marked a purple colour so I guess it goes into Violet and maybe Red remains unplugged...

So the software is telling me I have an EOS error at the castle flipper. That square is blocked out Red in the diagnostics, and manually moving the flipper up and down doesn't change anything.
The flipper is flipping fine in gameplay and test, including cradling the ball.
Wondering if I should just ignore it or do I have to take off the playfield and see what's going on?

Thanks for the answers on the castle flipper EOS issue. I did recently take the castle playfield off to fix an unrelated issue so a connector or something else might have become dislodged in the process. Taking it off is a pain so I was reluctant to do it again...but I guess I should.

Quoted from merccat:

The EOS switch is a small two pin molex connector. It's easy to get lost in the shuffle, did the same thing myself.

Thanks! Will check that. I've just developed coil problems now that I have to fix first.

Found the problem - I ended up having to take the castle playfield off again and saw that the the wire to the EOS switch had broken off, probably from when I reinstalled it last time. So all good now. The flippers would randomly all go dead during gameplay which I assume was due to this.

Just wondering...when doing this trouble shooting is it advisable to unplug and replug the cables in with the machine off or is it ok to do it while it’s on?

Quoted from pinballinreno:

New motors come with capacitor pre-installed.
Its good to have a couple spares.
And spare door posts...
Once you break off a screw in a post you will understand why...
And some spare screws for doors.
6/32 x 3/16" pan head in black, or paint your own.
Door post screws 6/32 x 1/4" or 3/16" black allen head. Get them where you can.
Dont bother ordering post screws, they send you useless tiny set screws.

The motors I just received didn’t have capacitors included.

I have just done exactly the same zaphX but in my case the screws and shaft were all ok. I haven’t quite put it back yet to see if it works, as when I turned the machine on it didn’t boot up - d’oh!
This has happened to me before (the fan runs so the manual way of shorting the pins doesn’t work). The solution for me this time was to reaseat the RAM.
Anyway, back to putting that bloody castle playfield back in and that door better work!

Quoted from zaphX:

I am so glad I listened to this advice. I ordered all the screws, set screws and shafts and used all of it.

yep, ordered a bunch also, although didn’t use them this time (except for bottom right door screw) will I’m sure need them down the track
