Hello WOZ owners.
I am trying to help a friend out that is having trouble with his WOZ not booting up. Once the machine is turned on you get a small note on the screen that says checking signal. Then the next message comes up HDMI no signal entering the power saving mode shorty. Then nothing.
What is the process to fix this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Mike

Thank you both for your help. Will try what you both suggested and report back.
Appreciate it very much.

Quoted from LTG:

If you don't get the jjp splash screen the motherboard isn't starting up.
I'd start with this -
LTG : )

LTG I watched the video, great information, but it appears I have a bigger issue than just jump starting the machine. Once I pulled the cover off and checked for lit LEDs on the IO board the lower ones were not lit. I checked all the fuses in that area by pulling them all out one at a time and checking their continuity and they all tested good.
So what's my next step? Is this a power supply issue?
Let me know,
Thanks Mike

No. Thank you for the kind sentiment.
Was a time jjp thought so.
LTG : )

Thank you, boy do I feel stupid now. If it is a power supply issue, I am assuming that there appears to be two and are located at each end of the big box in the cabinet correct? Where do I find schematics on the power supply for testing? Sorry for newbie questions, I work mainly on Bally/Williams machines and this is the first JJP machine that I have worked on that is having issues.
Thanks Mike

Quoted from LTG:

Does your game have a big ATX computer power supply on the floor of the cabinet, behind the big metal box with all the boards ?
If not please post a picture of the boards inside the big metal box so we can help.
Manual has which board is which too.
LTG : )

Working on it Lloyd. Thanks for the help. It may not happen until the morning, but will follow up ASAP.

Lloyd it looks like I won't be able to get the pictures you requested until I get back to my friends house. He lives about an hour away and he is uncomfortable to rase the playfield, remove the cover and take the pictures. So it won't happen until next week when I return to work on it again. Thanks for your help and patience. Mike

Quoted from LTG:

If the game has the big, square, computer ATX power supply behind the metal box with the boards, you don't have to go any farther. Then check it's voltages.
LTG : )

Back at my friend's today. Attached are some pictures of what you requested. The last picture is this what you are saying to check voltages on? If so where do I find what contacts to check and their voltages?

Quoted from LTG:

Google computer power supply pinouts or voltages. That will tell you the color of wire and what voltage of that wire to ground.
LTG : )

Did a jump start to it and now this showed up on the screen.
Do I need to connect a keyboard to the connector by the coin box and push f2? Or f1?

No need to, I let the machine sit for a 1/2hr and she now booted up fine.

#14755 11 months ago

Okay next issue, shut it off for about 15/20 minutes. Turned it back on it booted, but playfield lights would not come back on, but game played fine. Owner stated that this was it's original issue.
What should I look at now? Connector possibly, but what one.
Any help is appreciated.

Note: Next boot it did come up fine with playfield lights. But what should I check in the mean time.

Power supply bolted to the rear of the cabinet. ( circled in red ) It has voltages marked on it. ( circled in green ) Careful there is AC on it. The rest are DC.

I will check that out next time I am out at my friend's house.
Really appreciate the help Lloyd.
Thank you.

Good day LTG,
Back working on this issue. Took the PS out and looked at its connections. Some wires appeared not connected correctly (loose and/or under insulation). Corrected this, reinstalled and machine did boot and playfield lights worked, but GI lighting appears dim. Checked input and output voltages on PS and measured 120v AC and 4.5v DC. PS appears to be working correctly.
Turning the machine on/off sometimes no lights will work on power up (GI and playfield inserts), just nothing just display and states ready to play on screen. Did check on the underside of the playfield and the LEDs on the individual light boards were on when it came up dark. I did recheck the PS voltage and connectors when it came up dark and the PS showed the correct voltages.
What should I check next? Also once GI and inserts come up, GI are dim compared to what I see on the YouTube video's. I did see where you can dim/brighten the inserts, but nothing on GI.
Your thoughts.
