Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

At the time and now, your build date will determine your monitor.
ECLE and builds through 2015 had the lesser monitor. Come Hobbit and Dialed In had the 1080 one. Thus Ruby Red builds also have the newer monitors if Im not mistaken.
Im july 2013 build and I will say playing in the menu when i first got it i discovered this.
Its never really bothered me. You can see the difference when an ECLE sits next to a dialed in.

Very interesting. I still find it very strange. Its not like 1080 wasnt a thing in 2013.

I had a coil burn up a few months ago ago and got a replacement from JJP but never installed it. It is the small coil that drops the Winkie if the ball gets stuck behind the drip target in the up position. I went ahead and physically installed todsy because the light up target broke and needed to be replaced. It is screwed down but I have not attached the wires. How do I know which wire goes to which terminal? There is a purple and a purple with black stripe one. Unfortunately I did not record the location.
Also JJP said I should verify that the transistor that controls the coil is not bad. I have not done this yet. Is there an easy way to make sure the circuit is working without removing the IO board?

75th is my first pin bought recently n have had issues .Ive figured out some and have a local pro coming out soon as I’m finally getting close to finishing basement (that’s her spot to right of window).

He will help me bring it down 180 turn stairs also let me pick his brain on fixes.I got this sucker in house myself this is a hog!!It has sat in kitchen since purchase date n me n 2 boys are playing it nightly. My wife wants her kitchen back lmao.Anyway been working a lot of side jobs as during lockdown a lot of people calling me for work .Im closing in on second pin (can’t tell if this is a hobby or a sickness)I would appreciate any suggestions on a second pin to compliment this one .Basically looking for something opposite of WOZ (love this pin) .I made room for 4 so I’m looking to have 4 different styles of play .What do you think ?

By the way the egress is going to sport a Jurassic theme as you can see it’s started. What about that one ?

Quoted from Gotfrogs:

No diode on the coil, so it doesn't matter which wire to which lug.

Game turned off. Open coin door to disable high power. Turn game on. When fully booted, lift playfield up and lean back. Look at the small coil, pull out the high power interlock switch. If the coil locks on push the high power interlock back in and turn game off. Then you'd know the transistor is bad.

Remove the plastic tube over here and see if she works. If so then check and adjust where it is binding.

Stuck witch, usually the threaded rod needs white lithium grease on it. It shouldnt be too noisy or making loud grinding noises in operation.

Or the rod is bent and binding on something.

The witch on a rod isnt really secured to anything, its just stuffed into a hole.

After you take the clear plastic can off, you can just slowly pull out the witch, rod and all.

Just tested it. If u push the witch all the way up with my hand and go into test mode, it will go down just not back up. Opto?

Sounds like it or the interrupter isnt centered or fell off..

Or a wire broke off the opto etc.

Issue resolved. One of the Optos was out of place when the rod comes down thru it. The bracket was causing the rod to go just below the opto sensors causing it to stay open.

Has anyone had an issue with the shaker whining or squeaking? I went through some old posts on pinside and found a recommendation by Lloyd to use light oil to fix it. Just curious if anyone has done that, what they used, and if it worked. This is on a factory shaker on a WOZ ECLE, by the way. I welcome any thoughts. It just started whining/squeaking the other day.

I feel like most of my games do this..

Any oil. Yes, it works. A little drop on the bearing on each side where the shaft goes into the motor should do it.

I have balls that get stuck behind the target all of the time and sometimes behind a ball in the saucer and the target never drops on its own to release them.

The Winkie target should drop on a ball search. This is most definitely a bug but I tend to think of it as a secret multi-ball extender/multi-drain preventer.

Yes, there is a coil that is used to lower the Winkie Target. When I went and bent the target bracket to give more room for the target popping up (Decal was scraping) , I had a weird issue that prevented the metal arm from fully extending to hit it hard enough to lower. Never realized it was a problem until later on. I then found that due to bending the bracket, that arm was hitting the underside of the playfield. Took a little tweaking to get it to work right.

Weird question: when I'd get there's no place like home, the flippers used to flip on their own before launching the ball. Now they don't? Is that something in the menus I'm missing to turn on/off? Likewise, the flippers flip to indicate you're about to be on the upper playfield when the balls are shot there their first time: is there a way to turn this off like in the Simpsons?

No, its been mentioned before.

It hasn't caused any problems.

The game was designed for the ruby slippers to flip 3x randomly, not every time.

Yep, just like when TAF does the double flip randomly.Neat trick, non pin heads love it .
Any other games do this?

I didn’t know it was intentionally random. That’s interesting. I always assumed it was a bug, the fact that the slippers didn’t do this every time, that they never bothered to fix.

Mine does it randomly. But why would they choose to make it random? I like having them do it. Especially for those who come over to play as they arent familiar with the machine and people seem to have a hard time following where the ball is once going to upper playfields.

Hardware store. Grab one. 3 in 1 oil, turbine oil, just about any light oil.

By not doing it every time it adds a bit of delight to the game as opposed to yet another thing that you soon ignore due to repetition.
Much like the silhouettes flying in front of the DI moon at the match screen. Sometimes there is a silhouette but most times not. I find I watch the moon like a hawk, just in case

Well, since others say it is random, I guess your luck has taken a turn for the worse. I wouldn’t play the lottery for a while.

Wish there was a setting for that then. I understand what you are saying but at the same time, there are times I want it on all the time.

I always though it had to do with the Ruby Slippers being lit or not in the TNLPH outlane, but since it had no impact aside for the flippers to flip I never paid attention on how to get them to flip or how to actually light the outlane.

You are correct. The slippers never flip unless the TNPLH is ready to go.

You have to light all the targets in order to start TNPLH. I am guessing that if all the targets are lit but not collected by a left drain(think multiball) this would light the outlane slippers. But it is just a guess at this point.

So I just got done playing WOZ, again. I have come to a weird conclusion. Most of what I call "marathon games," once I have a good game, I can stop. In fact, often, I feel I need to stop. Marathon games, to me, are like LOTR, TSPP, Hobbit, Batman 66. But for some reason, WOZ is a "press the start button" again for me.

I think because out of all the goals in the game, they're all satisfying for me. I like trying to get a mega jackpot in rescue. I like melting the witch. I like getting horses. I like stacking God knows what and keeping it all running at once. It isn't a chore, like sometimes how Metallica can get to be. It is the same gameplay loop feeling I get when playing Doctor Who. I could hit that ramp all day and start multiball all day and not get bored.

Just thought I'd share my epiphany I had.

#10347 3 years ago

Jorant

What’s the best collect you’ve had with getting the horses?
Have you had 7 seven horses running at once ?
Really like this sideshow of the game.

I have to thank you for explaining your issue with the bracket that drops the Winkie target. I never knew the target was supposed to drop during a ball search because mine never has dropped on its own since I bought it NIB. I always thought it’s was an oversight by JJP. I looked at mine and the brass bracket did not line up with the opening. Probably just like yours. I had to take apart the whole drop target assembly to be able to bend the bracket. Looks like the brass bracket was not attached/properly aligned to the silver bracket. Works now though!

Thanks again @rager170!

Congrats, I just took delivery of #160

I find this game very difficult compared to The Hobbit. Maybe just need to get used to the lower score system and shorter games.
