This is the official WOZ Fan Club thread.

This thread has been requested by many and is to celebrate the accomplishments of JJP, have positive discussion of the game, and generally talk about the good things about WOZ.

To be clear, the moderators have been talking about this for some time. There will be no JJP bashing in this specific thread at all (zero tolerance). A smily face after your bash will not save your post from being deemed trolling.

The above rules are specific to this thread. We will not elaborate on these rules or comment on them. Do not post criticism of our decision to start this thread. You may of course pm me or the other mods your displeasure in not being allowed to post negative comments in this one thread but we have decided the MANY JJP fans have a right to express their enthusiasm in an environment without being baited into defending JJP.

Take it away WOZ fans. Y'all are safe in this thread.

Edit: WOZ fans, do remember to stay on point and not call out those who will not be posting in this thread. We want a positive thread here where some people who may lurk but may not post much can chirp in about the game. Thank you for your assistance. Let's make this thread a success together.

Bought my WOZ LE used in January and I really like the game play, the creative use of callouts both from and not included in the movie, the LCD screen, and much more. Was at the pinball show in Denver on Friday and Saturday and WOZ always had the longest line of people waiting to play it of any of the 140 pins at the show. This includes the new Sterns or "A" games by B/W. My hope is some how the Hobbit will be even better and that JJP will be a great maker of pins for a very long time.

Damn nice game man! I just blew my high score away last night and it was just under 2 mil. The score goes up crazy quick once you stack a bunch of modes I see! Great game!

Great score!

Has anyone put an online tutorial up with ver. 3.0 code? If so, I'd love to watch it in hopes that I might begin to approach a decent score.

#7 9 years ago

Holy crap great score! I just got 1.2 m started to sweat with all the stacked multiballs defeated the witch and probably still cant tell you exactly how I did this!

#8 9 years ago

speaking about sweating I bet there are a few people doing this now just wanting to post...something!

I'm so bummed I missed the show this year - last year was the first time I ever saw WOZ and it's easily been my favorite ever since. One more toy to sell and I'm ordering the Hobbit!

#11 9 years ago

I've melted the witch twice so far! The first time was almost overwhelming, but the second time was a hoot! I was able to pay better attention to everything that was happening. It's a really fun game now that 3.0 out.

If anyone is still running an older version, upgrade! It makes the game so much better.

Do you have to actually have it physically in your possession to be in the club?

its a fan club! You dont even need one on order!

#15 9 years ago

I don't have mine yet but still a huge fan and drop bills in the one across town whenever I can. WOZLE #650 will be here soon...... Can't wait

#16 9 years ago

I have been an owner for about 8 months and the game is simply incredible. I host a league and tournaments and people are just amazed by the game. I've been told by people that they think about the game when trying to sleep.
There are still some glitchy elements in the game I hope they get dialed in but as it plays it is a pretty fun ride.

#17 9 years ago

I noticed on the JJP google group that some of the people that were having the light board issues have received the updated boards today with the final fix and some initial testing looks pretty damn positive (no lockups). Can't wait for the problem to be gone for good (for those that had it, never popped up on mine)

#18 9 years ago

Also, +1 on the 3.0 how to someone mentioned above, i am horrible at woz, lol, never melted the witch, i've only gotten rescue multiball once. However, disclaimer, i hardly ever get to play lately. luckily I just moved the post at the exit of the castle playfield so i'm hoping that helps.

#19 9 years ago

I moved mine however I didnt notice it helped keeping the ball up there any longer or should i say better?

#20 9 years ago
Quoted from TaylorVA:

I'm pretty over the top passionate about Apple Inc, their products, and the whole Steve Jobs story. When I tell people about WOZ, I compare it to the first time I ever saw an IPhone. I was at a casino in Vegas, and a guy sat at our poker table with the new Iphone that just launched that day. He was playing with it, then passed it around the table for everyone to see. Such a revolutionary device compared to my Razor! So much cooler than just a phone, it was really amazing. WOZ reminds me of that day!

I moved that post a while ago. About 1 out of 3 times in the castle playfield it helps get you an extra shot or two. Not an earth shattering change, but I think it is worth it. I just find the castle brutally difficult sometimes. Although I still laugh when I flub out of the munchkin playfield a couple times and get told "Can't quite get the hang of it".

And I still say beating TOTO 2 is the best callout in the game so far.

yeah, was just gonna say, after moving it, i find it a little easier to keep the ball up on the castle playfield now. so not a night and day change, but i'll take all the help i can get.

#23 9 years ago

Thank you for making this thread without bashing and trolling, so much more enjoyable. WOZ enthusiasts unite!!

#24 9 years ago

Great to see this thread. The only downer in it for me is looking at that high score and realising I need to get A LOT better! Still have not melted the witch or got the GC score. I have a long weekend though and hoping to finally get her!

#25 9 years ago

So Glad we finally have a thread like this, I have had my WOZECLE #259 since October and all I got to say is it is the best game in my fairly big Collection. Thank You Jack and the Entire JJP Team for what you did and look forward to all the great things to come in the future.

Yes, WOZ is really something special. It has always looked great and had tons of stuff packed into it but I think 3.0 has really tied everything together. Just finished playing for about an hour. Really get's the adrenalin going!

That rescue multiball is such a tease. I keep trying to get it started before hitting the Emerald City multiball and so often fail. Ahhh...risk versus reward, love it! The challenge of trying to get balls going on all three playfields simultaneously along with a crystal ball mode to increase the "super x" playfield multiplier is fantastic.

I find the main shots very satisfying to hit and am starting to use the middle right flipper a lot more. I originally thought it would be a blind shot, but I was surprised to find that I can see the ball approaching through the hole in the Munchkin land playfield just enough to hit the witch or get the ball into the pop bumpers fairly consistently.

#27 9 years ago

WOZ has captivated me like no other pinball has before, it's just so damn addictive, a mix of challenge and frustration that makes it very hard to walk away from. Jack and Co invested everything in WOZ, this was their one shot to start a new pinball company, a great game was an absolute must, and they succeeded probably even beyond their expectations I'm confident that they will fix all of the lingering issues that some are having, and move forward making great games.

I'm jealous of some of the great scores I've seen posted, since I installed 3.0, my average score has risen greatly, but my high score is still just over 1.2 million. I'm still struggling to get control in multiball, the more things I have stacked the worse it seems to be, there's just so much going on .

I have melted the Witch a few times, doing it the first time is definitely the hardest, the tension of that mode is off the charts any time you get to it, great stuff!!

#28 9 years ago

Add me to the group.

My WOZECLE is scheduled to ship tomorrow.

yeeehaw!!!!

#29 9 years ago

Thanks for starting this thread Tiger.

#30 9 years ago

I'm still waiting for mine but the few I've played have been fantastic. JJP has really exceeded my expectations except for the wait and even though the anticipation sux is there any other machine out there that takes pinball to the next level? There really is nothing equal to it - for now anyway.

#31 9 years ago

Here was my best game so far:

photo 1 (1280x960).jpgphoto 1 (1280x960).jpg

I completed everything but RESCUE Multiball, and I was very close to completing that:

photo 2 (1280x960).jpgphoto 2 (1280x960).jpg

If I had finished RESCUE, I might have made it to Somewhere Over The Rainbow...

On Sunday I was playing my LOTR and achieved everything necessary for Valinor, just in the wrong order (needed to Destroy The Ring again, but drained...)

Both feelings were pretty similar - thrilled about doing well, but bummed about being so close to the final wizard modes but missing out! Ah well, I am having fun trying and happy these games are so challenging!

WOZ is now (with the latest code release) INCREDIBLE! It is currently my favorite pin.

Saw the video of the Bluetooth and am very interested. When will this be available and at what will it cost?

#36 9 years ago

Hoping to bring at least 5 proto to sell at Allentown. I think the price will be $100 but don't hold me to that yet

#37 9 years ago

Can't wait to play the new 3.0 at Allentown...

#38 9 years ago

3.0 is awesome, now what to do with all my shallow games, and believe me WOZ made them all shallow! Problem is they are still fun but every time I look over at WOZ it somehow pulls me back. Damn you JJP !

#39 9 years ago

WOZ is absolutly great

in europe the theme is no so popular lik in the us (only since a view years)

the game is so much better then every other NIB pin in the last 5 years

#40 9 years ago

EDIT: Oh, yeah...that's the version I'm running already. Never mind. Too much wine...

I posted a 3.0 gameplay up to melting the witch if that helps. Not a tutorial, but might give you some clues.

I just put up 871k, and it was a fantastic game! Amazing how it felt so epic. Some nights I just can't do anything on the game and then others blow the roof of it. Once I started haunted multiball was when the score really started climbing. I was pretty close to finishing ECMB (had it stacked with rescue for extra balls on the table), but as always, all the balls decided to leave as i was trying to shoot the throne room and I was left there alone collecting my bonus.

And Ted, if your up near Boston anytime soon...

Running 3.0 and smokin cigars!

#46 9 years ago

Hello everyone.,,,

I suppose I am happy to see this thread as well. I am guessing there were issues with the rest of the community on this game. I have not had enough time to read all posts regarding other folks opinions... which is really what I like,,, the good, the bad, the ugly...... just like to hear it straight. But I am guessing there were too many opinions that bashed it out of proportion.

Anyhow, I really like this community of people that enjoy this hobby and share all of their thoughts and ideas and experiences with various pinballs that they own or have played or want to own.

So, here I am. I am really interested in this game. I got to play it a year ago at the Louisville Expo,,, it was really cool. Since then I have purchased a Tron and a AC/DC.... I am really brand new, but have got bit. Now I think I want a WOZ.... but want to hear everybody's honest opinion.

I played it again this year, and my first impression was 'wow' this is a little dark. All of the videos that I have seen and make me want this game, and then I see it again in person and thought that the whole gameplay was darker than I remember......... As for the 'gameplay' it is hard for me to give an opinion because who can do that playing only for a few minutes after waiting in line to play......

Anyhow, What do you all think?... I mean 'Overall'. And how about price?.... I have an opportunity to purchase a Standard for about 8K, in stock and ready to ship, no waiting, no deposits, etc......

I have read about people saying that there are LE's that people are trying to sell for 7K but I can't seem to find them, so ........ just don't know.

Lastly, what is the difference between and LE (that people are dumping, but I can't find.)... and a Standard... that JJP will accept my deposit, but I have a seller right now NIB for same price.

All help appreciated. Really like the game and want honest opinions on all of the above.

#47 9 years ago

i cant wait for ruby reds to show up in pics on the line! as mine will be coming soon then! i know a few people who have them and have invited me to come over but i want to wait untill that big brown box gets to my door before i put my hands on one for the first time!

#48 9 years ago

How genius is Keith and crew for integrating the entire Woz package and making a game that is such a blast to play!

Got to say, "in Keith we trust", after buying my first pin with Lotr and him being on board from day one my expectations were met and even exceeded with Woz, all of the little nuances are just amazing.

But i love deep storyline pins with multiple ways to play them…..

#49 9 years ago

Me too. Turned in my rights to EE #417 for 75th #1. So have been waiting awhile. Not expecting to see any reds till the greens are done (and rightly so).

Sigh.

Humility is a good thing, and this pin dishes it out to you, in a big way. Everyone that plays my pin says its addictive. I have to agree. I've had it 9 months, and I don't have a hint of remorse. It is expensive though. I can't comment on a standard as I haven't seen one, but I really like the wood apron, the topper, the green powder coat, and the direct print cabinet, on the LE, which a standard doesn't have. The LE also has the shaker and invisiglass which are extra options on the standard. I personally would look for an LE if you can find one.
