I've had my WOZECLE since Feb 2014 and I'm having my first electrical problem. It was sitting running in attract mode for maybe an hour or so and I noticed a hot electrical smell and tracked it down to WOZ and turned it off and it went away.

Later the next day I opened it up and pulled the cover off the box in the bottom and turned it back on - in service mode with coin door closed. After maybe 5-10 minutes I can start to smell the hot electrical smell starting and traced it down to the Unified Power Source Board (15-0015-00. Revision R3). There is an Induction Coil (L9, page D142-143 in the manual) that is very hot. That seems to be the only component that is hot.

I'm not all that knowledgeable with electrical components so I need some help. I'm guessing that the Induction Coil itself isn't the problem, but rather something else is causing it to be so hot?

I'll open a support ticket too, but thought I would see what advice I could get here. I imagine Lloyd will be along any minute to help as usual.

Here is a pic - the coil thing in the middle on the right seems to be the source of the smell.

Quoted from pinballheavenuk:

TURN THE GAME OFF AND LEAVE IT OFF!
That coil will blow and take the motherboard with it. JJP will send replacement part out but much easier to swap the board now than fix the problems it will cause when it blows... I have had a few of these go.

Thanks for the advice. For sure I'll leave it off until I hear from JJP Support. Sounds like a replacement Unified Power Board is needed - is that the part you had to replace or was it another part?

Yep, I don't want to cause more damage. I'm glad I was close by and noticed it right away.

Just swap the unified power supply for the latest version with a bigger induction coil and you will be fine

Thanks for your help!
