The machine at Silverball Museum has tens of thousands of plays and doesn't look like that.

Quoted from snaroff:

When I read threads like this and recall all the JJP marketing hype about Stern's poor quality/craftsmanship, I just shake my head. Add all the other BS and it's hard for me to imagine buying a JJP pin. Stern isn't perfect, but at least they don't "Over promise and under-deliver"...

JJP puts out a great product. There's going to be a bad few in every bunch of ALL products. You hear about the few (less than 10, by my count) on Pinside because this is where people come to bitch about stuff and (hopefully) be supported by others.

So let's call it 10 playfields that have problems and 2000+ that are fine. Not a bad ratio if you ask me...especially with the first product from a new company.

Agreed. But at least JJP backs up their product with a replacement PF.

People can bitch about JJP's shortcomings - the LED problems being the biggest - but Jack has always taken care of his customers. They're still helping me out 18 months later...when my warranty supposedly expired in September.

Meanwhile, back at Stern....

You forgot the caption: "We charged the same amount of money for half the machine and got away with it!"

Quoted from Captain_Kirk:

"And our playfields didn't disintegrate!"

Right. Like the AC/DC above.

And for those of you who gave me a thumbs down, if you think TWD is on par with WOZ and worth the same amount of money, I'll have what you're smoking.

Also keep in mind I'll be in for a GoT and SW when Stern puts them out. So I'm not a Stern basher. Just calling a spade a spade. Or a hoe a hoe. Or whatever the hell it is.

Quoted from McCune:

When did TWD sell for 9500.00 ? That is what a new WOZ sells for TODAY !
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/wozle-ordered-and-shipped-yesterday

C'mon, Jim...not when it came out. You know that.

We can nitpick all day and say that TWDLE costs just as much if you add their mods, which should have been included for the price to begin with.

By the way, you do really nice restoration work. I may be driving through St. George again in June. You have been warned.

EDIT: I thought WOZ RR was 9k now???

EDIT #2: You won't see me defending the pricing on Hobbit, BTW...

#113 9 years ago
Quoted from McCune:

Not C,mon ! How about you buy a clue and compare what game came out the same time WOZ was supposed to come out and that game is AC/DC back in black for 6500.00 and that game smokes WOZ all day everyday !
Don't believe me ? Go check the top 100 on Pinside !
I rest my case !

Wow. You're mean. Now I'm definitely not stopping by to say hi.

Quoted from RobT:

Doesn't matter one iota if you think Stern "justified" their price increases. The fact is what I said remains true. Their prices did not sky rocket until after JJP came on the scene and proved that if they could charge more, so could Stern. They have. And Stern sales have not been harmed despite those price increases. In fact, they are now able to move into a nice new huge factory.

Which brings me back to my original post:

Quoted from beelzeboob:

You forgot the caption: "We charged the same amount of money for half the machine and got away with it!"

Thanks for backing me up, Rob!

I rest my case, McCune!

Quoted from John_I:

What "lazy" person is going to spend the dozens of hours is would take to strip the playfield down, install the protector and put everything back?

Me.

That's how I learned to fix my own machines.

#270 9 years ago
Quoted from dgpinball:

That's crazy talk, everyone on Pinside knows that every pin bought NIB is supposed to last forever in perfect condition and be guaranteed for life!!
The slightest blemish, it's time for a complete playfield swap, if the game isn't perfect, it's not worth playing.

Why did you use the sarcasm emoticon?

Agreed. I was just comparing mine to Taylor's.

Quoted from zr11990:

Don't believe Mirco of are any better. I have had two TZ of and the clear has separated from both of them. They are unusable and they say unfixable. It's a damn shame as unpaid good money for it. I haven't seen the Mirco woo odd yet but I hope they are better

A perfect example of why everybody should turn autocorrect off on their phones.
