Im not sure there is a way to determine whether or not the ball was picked up considering there is more than one ball in the game. So, if you were playing a multi player game, and player one has a ball locked, player two triggers the monkey to come down. How would the game determine whether or not it needed to release the previously captured ball? The only thing it has to go on is the monkey magney sensor. So if working correctly(and it is entirely possible to dial that sucker in), the game reacts the way it was intended to.
