Full disclosure... I bought a Pincaddy set and being one of the first I was asked for a review, and yes it's on their site. I have included a pic of the game I last used it on, installing LEDs and soldering in EOS switches on a game I just sold.
I have been in the hobby for many years and restored machines both professionally and for personal use. Personally, I have made 2 different trays and a friend made me another one a few years ago. They all did the same thing as this tool, but not nearly as well. I am a tool guy, when something makes sense and makes my life easier, I buy it. Yeah, my tray was way cheaper, but I got rid of it now. Not going back.
I have NO complaints on the price. Many of the plastic vacuum formed ramps are well over $100 and yet we still buy them. I recently tried to have a topper made for a game that is in desperate need in the market. It was a simple one piece vacuum formed plastic piece that then needed to be cut out. How expensive could that be, right? From a local vendor that sat down with me and walked me through the steps needed to make this from scratch, I soon found out that a minimum 100 piece order was going to cost me close to $20,000 including the tooling. Yeah, I'm not going to have that made...
I don't know how much the guy has into this product, but I can only imagine that is was not cheap. So instead of crapping on it, why can't we say THANK YOU for people investing their money into this amazing hobby keeping it vibrant. We should be encouraging innovation like this.
If it's not for you, just move on. Personally, I love mine.
