taking into account both are really nice? and the fact i love congo...but i also like trying new games and this has been on my radar, and cash flow is limited for time being.

Don't do it. You will be kicking yourself sometime down the road if you make this deal.
If you really want a RBION then keep your Congo and buy the RBION. Is it a question of money or space or both?
Gord
Quoted from tp:and the fact i love congo...but i also like trying new games and this has been on my radar,
Played much RBION? If you really love Congo I might be worried aboot sending it out for an "unknown" game to you.
yea im really torn on this one.... facts....never played rbion but always wanted.... love congo would need to find another someday... money is an issue at the moment.... space is not however as i bought an old butcher shop to use as a gameroom.....got room for atleast 20 more if someone needs room to store their games
fyi...due to several pms...this game is --not for sale-- its worth more than money to me... but there are a couple games on my wishlist i 'might' trade for. thanks for reponses but i think they may of made it more difficult to decide.
Is congo really that fun!?
I used to dig the movie and watched it recently just for shits n giggles, but never really looked at the pin.
Wudya like about it so much!?

Yes, get RBION and you'll never look back. RBION is a fantastic game! I own one, its never leaving.
RBION are easy to find. Congo are not.
Rule #1 when thinking about selling>> NEVER get rid of a game you still enjoy that may be more difficult to find in the future for one that is unknown.
IME, go play more RBION and then make a more informed decision. I initially liked it but found the shot layout less than fun the more I played it. I would still buy one for the right price but would NEVER get rid of Congo to get it.
RIBON is worth more than congo currently. Who knows if it will stay that way. But never trade or buy a game you havn't played extensively. It's always a dumb move. You will never get burned if you live by it.
ive decided to keep it... mahoyvan asked wadya like about it?
imho... its beautiful, cab,and playfield.
still exciting to play
lot to shoot at
volcano...whats not to love about a ball spewing volcano
hidden surprises
quality, well built.
gonna wait til i save up some cash for the rbion.
In a heart beat. There is a reason that Congo was regularily parted out along with NBA. RBION is a good game in my opinion.
However, If you truly like it, your might as well keep it. It would be nice if you had a local friend that you could swap games with so that you could double your pins without the extra cash outlay.
Quoted from TheLaw:Congo is a fun game, but personally I think RBION is a better game. Price wise...is Congo still up around 2500ish? If so RBION might be a little more.
Agreed. I had a Congo and sold it, I was offered WCS & DM for my RBION and still said no. Congo is fun, but gets to the point of how many times can I complete Super Diamond Hunt Multiball. Still haven't seen the mini wizard or wizard mode of RBION.
Quoted from LesManley:Congo is fun, but gets to the point of how many times can I complete Super Diamond Hunt Multiball.
I focus more on completing MAPs and getting to Ghost Tribe and Skill Fire. Diamonds are just a way to get to Multiball, which is where the real points are. And don't forget AMY mode - big points there.
Quoted from justdavid:There is a reason that Congo was regularily parted out along with NBA.
Curious: where are you getting your info that Congo was regularly parted out?
I'd love to find someone parting one and stock pile extra parts..
Choggard? Is that you?

I think many WPC-95 games were robbed for parts in order to keep the popular ones like MM earning $$$ back in the day. I do not think many Congos were actually parted but rather that boards may have been robbed at one point to keep MMs alive?
Either way there are very few Congo made, ever fewer still alive, and even fewer in good condition.
I also must really suck but I am yet to see anyone make it to 100 Diamonds on my congo or get skill fire or make it 3 deep in the video mode. Set your games up to be reasonably challenging (like they were intended) and you will get more fun out of them for longer. Congo is just a great shooting game and VERY unique and fun style of play.
Agreed about the diamonds. I think my best was like in the 60s or something. I'd have to check. And to be quite honest, I've only made video mode ONCE since owning the game, let alone 3 deep.
That's why I love this game.
I had a mint HUO RBION, and I don't miss it. It's a solid game with good rules, but I got bored of it quickly. It is the pin that I owned the shortest by a big margin. I have a beautiful Congo, and it isn't going anywhere. The rules may not be as deep, but I find it to be a lot more fun. Obviously, YMMV.

Right. I played for everything, but Super Diamond Hunt Multiball is the wizard mode of the game, so I used that as the example. I really like Congo, has a bunch of unique stuff. Skill Fire mode is awesome. I had over 800 million on it alone on my game once. I miss my old Congo, but I wouldn't give up my RBION to get it back.
Quoted from Whysnow:I think many WPC-95 games were robbed for parts in order to keep the popular ones like MM earning $$$ back in the day.
I think the most sought after part back in the day was the WPC95 A/V board which fortunately is a non issue today since Rottendog has a new replacement for it.
Once I figured out Super MB was 100 Diamonds I was able to do it on my next 4 of 5 games.
Defeat Grey
Defeat Grey
Defeat Grey
Defeat Grey
A few other random diamonds and there's your game. The Grey shot is risk free and returns to a flipper. Not really to much going on there. Defeating Grey is just really bashing flipper buttons..not really challenging at all
Congo last a record 2 months...and 6 weeks of that was torn down. I thought I would like it more after it got rebuilt and playing 100%. I actually liked it less
Quoted from Blackbeard:Couldn't sell my rbion fast enough. Felt cheap. Williams/Bally!
Gotta disagree here. RBION was my first Stern and I was skeptical, but it's pretty rock solid as far as I'm concerned.
Obviously other than the PF pull out which is certain(t)ly worse than W/B. At least it has rails and not pegs though!
Don't want to take away from the Congo fans, but just because of this thread, I've gone ahead and put some serious time on RBION. On the iPad that is!... It is definitely growing on me and I think it might be a great contender for a sharp shooter's game in my line up (to be). Would love to try one out in the wild.
I didn't know Congo was that hard to find, but it does have the 4th lowest production run (2,129) out of 13 WPC-95 games behind CC, SC, and CP.
For what it's worth (not much), there are 3 Congos for sale on ebay right now all in the $3-4k range and 2 RBIONs both in the $4-5k range. (Yes, the prices for each are way too high, but probably much more inflated for RBION.) Also, the number of owners of each shown on pinside is almost the same for both (194 Congo and 175 RBION). No official production numbers for RBION, but I believe I've seen estimates of around 1,500 made. Nevertheless, there are probably way more HUO RBIONs and there may be more total left due to the 9 year delta and the difference in buyers/usage patterns from 1995 to 2004. Even if RBION continues to be priced higher than Congo, you may have a better chance of getting a good condition RBION down the road than replacing your Congo if it's in good shape. That being said, I wouldn't trade my RBION for a Congo (but I'd buy one for the right price).
Post edited by classicgamefan: Added exact pinsider collection numbers and cleaned up some grammar.
Looked for Congo for 2 and a half 3 years over 30+ pins finally got one great music and call out good layout but not the wow factor that it seemed to have in videos and all the hype.Dont get me wrong pretty good game but I don't miss mine as I expected I would good game for a large collection !!
