Have the option to take either Stern POTC or Houdini on loan. Which one should I take? Anybody played a lot of both and have a rec?

I'd take Houdini because I can play Stern Pirates on location in multiple places. Houdini has great code, Pirates is basically max your jackpots or you lose.

I have a POTC and I would pick Houdini to take for a loan.

    Houdini for sure.

    Houdini all day everyday

    Neither

I don’t like Houdini at all but that seems like the perfect opportunity to get more games in and find out what people like about it.

This one is easy. Houdini no question.

Come on you wouldn’t take ANY GAME on loan? I don’t care what it is, any pinball is better than no pinball.

I'll buck the trend and say POTC, really don't like Houdini at all.

I would take the POTC because I would be concerned about something breaking or happening to Houdini and having to deal with it while on loan-no thanks.

    What if POTC breaks?

    Houdini. No brainer.

Surprisingly POTC is a really solid game. Might have issue with ship motor but that is on a game with 1000's of plays.

I’ve seen more than a couple with absolutely bricked tortuga spinners and switch errors out the wazoo. My point is the breaking concern is valid for any game.

    Potc...its the better game

Yeah, he/she lost some serious credibility with that answer!

Houdini, although both games are pretty fun. POTC got old for me faster. Houdini has to be setup precisely to be fun though, so YMMV

Houdini. I owned a Stern POTC and sold it within 6 months as the ruleset just didn't offer enough depth and variety for me. Shoot the ship shot 5x to destroy the ship, then 10x, then 20x, etc...ugh.

Played POTC this past week and rather enjoyed it. Don't love the art but for game play definitely a fun game and my choice.

I don't care for Houdini and the POTC I get to play has been handing out some really cheap drains (that I think a better op would be able to deal with) so I'm mad at it. Mostly just being cranky. You're right though, I'd still take either under the right circumstances.

Edit, lol. I need to actually read stuff. I thought this thread is referring to the JJP Pirates.

    Take Houdini

I'm supposed to read the whole thread title now?!

This place is getting out of hand.

Thanks for all the good input guys. Think I’ll go with Houdini
