Tried getting in on a list a couple years back but was told to just keep checking this thread. Still checking but still don’t really know how or if I can even get in on either a stargazer or seawitch playfield in any shape at all. Uncleared is just fine by me.

Sounds like you have a single with no finish still? If so I would gladly take it.

Just got back from my Holidays in Austin, Texas. I responded to my email & messages. For those asking about Stern glass. Mid month the 15 tempered blanks should be here & go out for printing.

Hope you had a good time John. I clearcoated the seawitch playfield last week with my lectronamo. Very happy with it. Thanks again.

What did you use for clear? I am waiting on the cnc shop to confirm a estimate start time for playfield production.

you have a lot of stuff dude

Plumbing is my day job. That’s my shop I was spraying at. Business has been there since 1936. Lots of old shit still kicking around.

Quoted from greatwichjohn:

Update: The custom double cardboard wall, 2 box sets are ready for pick up next week. Tempered glass order arrives this week or next, & placing another order to arrive next month for Stern glass. Marco Specialties to restock, & I will try to improve restocking glass. I need to build a new spray booth at the shop. Still trying to get a firm start time this month for cnc playfields.

Do you have a site at all John? Place to see what glass you have available. Have someone looking for meteor.

Quoted from PACMAN:

When did Seawitch PF's start shipping out?

They didn’t. This was a test print that had a few issues and was uncleared. I cleared and fixed the issues myself.

Get your rails for your future seawitch playfield! I gave Taylor a set to make templates for everyone. No need to send him your rails.

I'll probably be doing harnesses again for the scratch builders if there is enough interest. Still looking for a play field in any shape for building the pattern.
Shawn

Tackling this swap is next in line for me. If I get it done soon I can give you the old stripped playfield while you mock a harness up.

john, any chance that you can start uploading photos with a higher resolution than you're currently using? it would be really nice to be able to actually see the details. the last time that 640x480 was used was windows 98!!
most smartphones produce images with at least 4x the resolution of what you're currently uploading

It’s pinside. When you upload photos it defaults to medium resolution as most things people upload don’t need to be in crazy hi def and helps with los times and server space. Here’s a little test.

Default :

Quoted from cottonm4:

Seeing a Seawitch in a destination setting, out in the wild, those colors really pop.

Agree the lighting at Johns shop doesn’t show these off well. The clear I did helps them pop too

Quoted from cottonm4:

Lose the Lecromano play field and take another pic. It will look like some movie starting out in black and white and then fading to color.

Sorry. That was out in the shop when I was working on them. Lectronamo is installed. Seawitch is in a box waiting for me to finish meteor and catacomb first.

Both Star Gazer tests are sold. Pictures of them ready to ship & playfields. 10 new production Seawitch most are almost finish sanding, & starting the other 12. Hopefully 4 Star Gazer, & 2 Seawitch to the printer the end of this week. Working on 6 more Seawitch to the printer next week.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Quoted from j_m_:

john, I think you misread Whridlsoncestood post. it was more along the lines of getting regular and timely information from you is like pulling teeth
I'm still in it for the looooooooooooooooooong haul, but even you have to admit at this point that 5+ years is a bit ridiculous. gene cunningham managed to build 70+ complete pinball machines in that time

That wasn't my post. My post was starting a swap with his playfield. An early test one that needed several corrections and clear that I took care of.

Quoted from j_m_:

ah yes, it was plankalkul. corrected and sorry about that

No problem at all.

Getting closer to finishing this. Top side will go quick. Underside is done and rewired. Everything cleaned rebuilt and polished on the underside. This was cleared by me. Bare ink from John with defects I corrected.

Quoted from dothedoo:

Glad those are minor errors. I was afraid they were going to be something in the visible areas of the artwork.

Nope. All minor tweaks were very easy fixes. No visible flaws. And with everything pre drilled it’s a breeze. Playfield swaps are never easy and can be down right frustrating at times with shitty dimpling and nothing pre drilled and straight up missing a ton of dimpling. There was a couple post holes not dimpled/drilled on top but they were easy ones in the middle of plastics. Pop the plastic in and boom transfer hole through plastic to playfield.

All was shown to John. When he corrects those you guys will have a cakewalk swap.

Quoted from vec-tor:

Most NOS playfields from the manufactures ( 1980's )never had hole guides...
It all depended on the time when the playfields where pulled from the line...
Sometimes you got lucky... sometimes you didn't.
But I agree... With today's technology... you could do a test.

I did a nos paragon swap once. Worst swap ever. 75% of holes/dimples were not there. No alignment of any sort. People hold those old nos playfields like they are gold but they are nos for a reason. Manufactures weren’t making spare playfields in those days.

You can put me on the received list. Uncleared year with white arrows. Received last November I think? I was a want to buy but not prepaid guy.

Yes finally the first production ones to get finish auto clear coats late this month & early April.

Wait isn’t it early April right now? I know we are all losing track of days during all this!

If you put the white stars in upside down and spray then you can just pull them out. Insert stays free of the clear, the stars aren’t covered in clear for owners and you can keep reusing the stars for clearing other batches.
