You mention that it's in an existing location, so don't discount the positive impact it may have on that. Something doesn't have to individually make a profit to help the overall business.
For the record, I'd pop a dollar in for a game. If it were 50c I'd probably pop $2 in...repeat sales v price gouging.

The calc is right but it is also a snapshot .. if you look at the value of anything from the 80's to today (any of the years in the 80's) the value is between 0.50-0.75 .. so not sure what the right answer is ... I wouldn't pay $1/game but $1 for 2 games I think works and lets you use the $1 mechs although as mentioned I think in the US especially going with quarters makes more sense so 0.50/game would likely get the most traffic
I played Argosy at $0.50 with my buddy last weekend at Mom’s in College Park. Machine was in great shape. He had never played it before. We had a great time. I moved onto Jurassic Park, but he went back for more Argosy. We also played Grand Prix. They were set to 5 balls. Mentally, I’m probably not going to pay $1 for Argosy though, when I could play a modern game for the same price.
I was at the airport and played new modern SS for .50 per play. Generally, pinball manufactures designed their games to last 40 seconds per ball (quoted directly from Gary Stern in an interview). Considering and assuming your games are in nice cosmetic and mechanical condition, I would pay 2 plays for a buck.
Today's player would rather play a SS game title. Us older guys have a mental barrier that a buck a game is too much money! Or, at least this older guy!
