I’m working on a Whirlwind and I’m trying to decide if it’s worth replacing the playfield with a new CPR playfield or just restoring it. I thought the damage was worse at first but as I’m going through it, it’s not a total beater. Looking for input and/or advice from others. Thanks!

Really its just how far you want to go, pay the extra monies,, and if you find doing a swap fun.
The PF like that certainly wouldn't upset/bother me.

Pretty standard i would say buy the PF, it'll take months before you can touch it anyway, and see what happens. You can always sell it for a small if any loss if needed

Depends if you want to keep it or now. You could just throw a protector on it and play the heck out of it.

#4 2 years ago

I would clean it and wax it and be play it.
Congrats on the WW

Pretty standard wear for a game of that age. It wouldn't really bother me.

Clean it, do some minor touch-ups (pens or paint), put some mylar on high-wear areas, wax it and enjoy playing it.

Save your money and touch it up, wax it, and enjoy it.

What are the scoops like?

Unless you have a lot of history with the game, I’d play it for a month or so and see if it’s really a keeper for you. If it is and you want to take it to the next level, then maybe go for the new pf.

That will also give you an opportunity to find any problems that need to be repaired before the swap.

I would clean the living shit out of it. On older games I don’t mind some PF wear as long as the dam game is sparkling clean. Put some cliffys switch protectors on that bad boy too

Looks fine to me! Play on!

I had one years ago that was much worse and someone sent me their old one which looked about as good as that one you have and I put it in my machine!

Agree if it is a keeper, a new playfield for sure. If you go with a new PF, there were some issues with clear lifting so make sure to research that or be prepared to send out to get corrected. There was also some minor differences in the new vs. originals.

It looks pretty decent to me, but its all in your personal taste for your collection. If you have a players collection, put some elbow grease into it and save your money.
