With all the excitement surrounding the release of the Black & White Munsters pinball machine, would you be interested in buying one? There are a few B&W pins out there such as Bally’s 1981 Centaur and the one off B&W Twilght Zone created by Great American Pinball. Would you like Stern, JJP, Spooky etc to create more machines in Black & White? It’s seems to be a very polarizing topic on Pinside and among pinball enthusiasts. What’s your opinion? Of course these stern pics are just for fun, but what if?

If it was something like Centaur, absolutely!

#5 5 years ago

Centaur is cool because it has red as well, and colored inserts.

The TZ is cool but I don't know about the all white lighting.

I think an all black and white playfield with RGB inserts could be very cool.

#6 5 years ago

Yes if done right i think it could be bad ass.

#7 5 years ago
I assume price would be the equivalent of a typical pin. What if they were the exact same price, color vs. black and white

#8 5 years ago

Centaur for sure. TZ and Munsters maybe since they are based on B&W shows. Otherwise, I want full color for my pinball $$$!

#9 5 years ago

TZ in B&W is niice! Does the lack of color make the game more difficult to play?

#10 5 years ago

Only if it made sense thematically. Something like TZ, Munsters and maybe CftBL I would prefer in B&W.

That’s a great point. What other themes do you think would work? Current pin or potential theme?

#12 5 years ago

It would all have to depend on the theme and its nostalgic feel. The
TZ is cool looking but would have to see in person especially with
all that white lighting. Not even sure on that.
As far as newer Sterns it just doesn't fit with any of the artwork
that we been seeing but I know that was just for fun. Munsters on the other
hand is certainly a good candidate considering its age and its theme can carry
itself around black and white images and video. The playfield would tie in well
but the lighting scheme would need to be done right.

I think a Judas priest pinball with art done similar to centaur would be really cool.

#14 5 years ago

I came to this thread to say ‘yes’ I would buy a Bally Williams pin.

A black and white pin would look beautiful especially if complemented with color GI and RGB lighting effects. Trust me.

#15 5 years ago

With not seeing one in person.. Nah. Not for me. I could change my mind though after seeing one.

#16 5 years ago

Should other companies capitalize on a potential B&W market? Would you be interested in buying a pin such as Monster Bash with Black & White artwork?

It's not all black and white. It looks like almost all of the inserts are color. It does look funny though.

I thought BW stood for Bally Williams.

Yes I would buy a Bally Williams, have done so several times.
No I would not buy a black and white pin.

But hey, it would keep the pinstadium fanboys away so maybe it would be a good thing!!

#21 5 years ago

Schindler's List pinball?

#22 5 years ago

It depends if it fits the theme and art style, but my simplified answer is "yes".

#23 5 years ago

Never

#24 5 years ago

I like artwork and color, so I'm not particularly interested in B&W artwork on something that has been traditionally in color. The TZ was a neat experiment, but not something I'd be interested in owning.

#25 5 years ago

Only if I was color blind

#26 5 years ago

no thank you. just not a fan of black & white. its always nice to have options.

#27 5 years ago

I like that the b&w is an homage to the show being originally filmed that way.

Nope. I have cones in my eyes for a reason.

#30 5 years ago

never. Unappealing and weird in my opinion.

#31 5 years ago

With the exception of Centaur, no.

#33 5 years ago

Yep and now maybe Munster Pre, love it. So with the exception of Centaur and The Munsters absolutley not, won't happen.

#34 5 years ago

The Munsters art looks like it was designed specifically for the black and white look and then colourised for the other editions. Which is fine, makes thematic sense, but the colourisation doesn't grab me. The Premium looks by far like everything in it is meant to be there as a stylistic choice.

#35 5 years ago

If it’s done right, absolutely

#36 5 years ago

Nope.

#37 5 years ago

red and white is the future

#38 5 years ago

The black and white TZ looks awesome. That is the only TZ I would ever be interested in owning . If It makes sense for the theme and done right I think it can work really well . I think that since Stern went with early Beatles for the Beatles pin they could have done a version in black and white . But had they gone with later Beatles Magical mystery tour , Sgt peppers , it would need to be in color.

#39 5 years ago

Artwork and playfield, yes. But I am not sure if inserts and lights should be only white; you need those for the game.

My MB and TZ both have black & white DMDs for this exact reason...

#40 5 years ago

Not only would I, but I will!

#41 5 years ago

I would like a red menace edition.
