Quoted from Tranquilize:Up until the cost cutting and nodes, you are correct!
The only Stern I have had any quality problems with is Jurassic Park and Stern stepped up and is swapping my pf.
I called them about a year ago with an issue with my AC/DC. Chaz spent prob 20 min with me on the phone and ended up hooking me up with a replacement mpu board for cost. That game is almost 10 years old now and they are still offering support.

You prob quit driving when cars came out with plastic bumpers?
Quoted from Tranquilize:If the plastic bumpers fell off the cars when I drove them off the lot like the Plumb Bob fell apart in my hand the first time I touched it (in a $12500 machine), then yeah, I guess I'd quit driving them. You make a good point: Stern's QC is even worse than American car manufacturers. Now that's impressive!
Innovation has to start somewhere. You think in the 90’s WMS/Bally was pumping out games with perfect playfields and no QC or design issues? Ya those guys never did any cost cutting. Lol
Quoted from Tranquilize:Are we talking about innovation or cost cutting? Sometimes they mix well, most times not. Here's a list off the top of my head:
Lockdown latches: upgrade-ish
Power button: downgrade
Convenience receptacle: downgrade
Power supply: downgrade
CPU board/node boards: downgrade
Backbox lighting: downgrade
Knocker: downgrade
Potholes instead of sewers: massive downgrade
Service rails: temporary downgrade until people bitched enough
Leg brackets: temporary downgrade until people bitched enough
If I took the time, I'm sure I could remember a bunch more. Great innovation, right?
Enjoy 1990 bro
