Update - not sure how many pretend orders we need to get the attention of a pin company for this project, but I am rolling for 300. Seemed dudish and is also a perfect bowling score.

Obviously this could be the greatest pin theme ever. No one is really talking about doing it, but we can dream right? I am going to count how many people say they would purchase a TBL.

No thought right now as to the company - Stern, JJP, Skit B, whoever. Just imagine that one showed up with a plan, resources, and talent - are you in on a pre-pay/pre-order deal?

Terms will be $6500 for a blown out, upscale, beautiful, well done TBL. $1500 up front and $5,000 upon completion. It could be cheaper, who knows, maybe more - but work with these numbers for now.

I am putting myself down for 3 to get this started! I will update the title every few days with a total.

You never know, a big number on this thread could get someone's attention! Here are the people that are in and their numbers:

#5 11 years ago

Dude. That is awesome. That makes 4.

#7 11 years ago

Here are the terms:

$6,500 for the pin and they are all premium level, no stripped down versions.

$1,500 up front.

Balance ($5,000) due before delivery.

#8 11 years ago

We are already at 5!

#11 11 years ago

This is league play jarjarisgod, are you in or not?

#13 11 years ago
Quoted from navajas:

I might not make it at those terms. If Skit-B could do it for about a grand or so less I'd have to make it work. As is, I'd have to try. Who am I kidding? I'd actually get a credit card for just it.
Yeah. I'd in.

It could be cheaper, who knows. But I want a high quality TBL in my pinball fantasy...

#14 11 years ago

Jarjarisgod - yours is lucky number 7!!

Dang, I wanted that one.

#17 11 years ago
Quoted from jayhawkai:

Nihilist LE or Urban Achiever LE? Tough decision.

Can I put you down for both or just one?

Urban Achiever would be the 'pro' model. We aren't doing any of those...

A nice animated ferret topper?

#25 11 years ago

I have a list now at the top, if your name isn't on it, you haven't called for one. 1-10 are now gone!

#26 11 years ago
Quoted from herbertbsharp:

The Jesus LE w/ purple powder coat

Does that mean you are in on the pre-order?

#28 11 years ago
Quoted from pinmister:

I will take one-will you take my $8000 and hold it-but make sure to make broken promises

Yes!!! I promise to make and break promises! Whatever makes you happy. Or unhappy. I am confused now.

Please stay on topic.

#31 11 years ago
Quoted from rai:

I'd buy one, but has to be R rated and has to do the movie justice, I do not want just any pin just because its TBL, has to be great, probably would lean towards Skit-B if anyone.

I will not let anyone tackle this project unless they abide. I am putting you down for #12.

#33 11 years ago
Quoted from Honch:

I'd be a definite maybe.

Honch you have lucky 13. I know when maybe really means yes. Plus you can fake sell your spot later if you like. Trust me.

#47 11 years ago

Tilt warning:

Smokey, this is not nam. This is pinball. There are rules.

#52 11 years ago
Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:

Was there any doubt that I would buy one? I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind limber until it arrives at my door. Needless to say I would be in without hesitation.

My apologies! Should have had you on the list already!

#55 11 years ago

Tilt warning #3:

This aggression will not stand, man!

#56 11 years ago
Quoted from DaveD:

On this purchase I would have to pull the trigger until it goes click!

You're in dude.

#58 11 years ago

Dudes, I have two thumbs down on this thread!

This is one of the greatest ideas ever! Am I wrong? Am I wrong?

#65 11 years ago

Ball save:

If you're not into that whole brevity thing...

#70 11 years ago

Don't forget guys, if you don't tell me you are in - I won't have you on the list!

#77 11 years ago

Walter multiball - A timed multiball to score a toe with polish by 3:00

Doesn't work on Saturdays...

#85 11 years ago

Hawkeye, ecurtz, starfighter, tracelifter, Steve_PBH, - I got you guys on the list.

Zappa - you in or out?

#87 11 years ago
Quoted from ChadNC:

With Tron, IM and now this i would have the Bridges Trifecta.

After TBL is done, we can get a couple more Cohen brothers pins made - O brother where art thou? And True Grit (for your fourth Bridges pin...)

Let's stay on topic though...

#113 11 years ago
Quoted from tracelifter:

I spoke with Gary Stern at breakfast on Saturday at CAX about making TBL and he said the movie is too old and he wouldn't do it.
I said so you are going to let Jack build this one?
He just smiled.
This game belongs in every bowling alley in America.
To me this is a no brainer, you could pay for the game if you took it to a Lebowskifest at a buck a play.

The have Lebowski parties every year on the anniversary of the movie, even here in the Gump (Montgomery, AL). This movie is more popular now than when it was new! Try buying a dude sweater on eBay.

#114 11 years ago

Ok guys, I have updated the list for the morning. Let me know if I missed you. I do have a day job, but not much of one... May try to update it again during the day.

#124 11 years ago
Quoted from mmuglia:

Wish I was closer.

Mmuglia - you have never been closer than this. Are you in or out?

#125 11 years ago

What were the critical numbers for the predator and BBB projects? We are pushing 50 here in less than 24 hours. Just sayin'.

#127 11 years ago

And can someone tell me why I have 4 THUMBS DOWN on this thread?! Dude.

#133 11 years ago
Quoted from Guru-420:

Can you make it so mine only works 6 days a week? I told that kr**t a f@!&ing thousand times that I don't roll on Shabbos!

I really think there should be a set up option for Walter mb not to work on Shabbos...

#134 11 years ago
Quoted from Fliptastic:

Probably because just by reading the thread title, people think it is real until they open it only to be disappointed.

They need to be believers and sign up! Show support, generate real interest. Pretty soon someone will give the people what we want!

They need to stop down thumbing us! This aggression will not stand, man!

#137 11 years ago
Quoted from taz:

There are so many great ways this one could be laid out and coded. It would be so much better than the usual, collect the heros or band members. I'd go with Dude ass whippings for modes: Treehorn's Goons Pissing on Rug, Maude's Boys Taking Rug Back, Sheriff of Malibu & Coffee Mug, Nihilists & Marmot in Tub, Nihilists Burning His Car, Treehorn drugging him, Car stolen, and Bunny's Husband hustling him into Limo. Spinning rug toy, bowling alley scoop shot, car bash toy, logjamming video mode, make a White Russian multiball, Walter goes Nam hurryup, shut the f@&k up Donnie skill shot, etc. This one is a gold mine of pinball options. It would sell like hotcakes.

They will look to this thread to fill the members of the TBL Pinball advisory committee.

#140 11 years ago
Quoted from Santeh:

Hello!
Please put me down for one Big Lebowski pin!

You are in at 52!

Only 47 two digit numbers left guys and gals. Get'em while you can!

#141 11 years ago

I am surprised that no distributors have asked for an allotment yet.

Distributors - assume that we can work out the normal terms on the TBL's as long as you are buying 10 or more.

#148 11 years ago
Quoted from davewtf:

Thumbs down for getting my hopes up!
That was so un-dude.

Look man, I've got certain information, all right?

This is how you get the ball rolling dude. Give us a thumbs up and get on the list!

Somebody sees 500 pinheads clamoring for a new machine and BAM - who knows?

#150 11 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

Instant buy for me, but I'd like to see a pro at around $4500.

If this happens, it is likely to be a small run at first. Not sure i can put you on the pretend list at the pretend 'pro' level.

If you will commit to the pretend premium level, I can get you on there.

Jdawg, MrWizzo, and Dante, you are all in.

#153 11 years ago

That is the spirit MrWizzo! This could turn out to be the new way a game gets selected for production - by the people!

#176 11 years ago
Quoted from bjoechamp:

Great movie, good potential for a Pin theme. Count me in for looking for a used one after they have been out for a while.

I am pretend sorry bjoechamp. I cannot put you down for a pretend used one later. Be glad to put you down for a really nice pretend NIB now though. Just say the word.

#177 11 years ago
Quoted from rputnam:

Count me in, but this is becoming a very complicated post, RTR. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, a lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber.

Well said!!!

#180 11 years ago
Quoted from pinballslave:

I'm in... Can it have Maude saying 'Vagina' as the ball rolls down the outlane?

This will be an option in set up.

#181 11 years ago

Speaking of pins with themes from older movies, I know of a couple that aren't doing too bad in terms of sales and followings. And yes, i have one of them on order myself - from a 75 year old movie....

So I dismiss that as a reason for not doing this !!

#185 11 years ago

6 thumbs down. Really? Thumbs down on the TBL rally thread? Should I be pushing for a Green Lantern pin or something?

I bet they are upset Eagles fans....

Come guys, keep those pretend pre-orders coming. Someone may pay attention!

#192 11 years ago
Quoted from MrWizzo:

Before I open up a can of you-know-what, let me clarify. Which Eagles are you talking about?
Dan

The dude hates the fn Eagles (the band) in the movie.

Not referring to the Philadelphia brand of Eagles!

#193 11 years ago
Quoted from JustLikeMe:

This is the one and only pin I'd pre-order sight unseen. Nothing could stop me - I'd even pay the entire amount up front. Count me in.

Just pointing out the international appeal here. Just sayin. Welcome!

#194 11 years ago
Quoted from bjoechamp:

RTR the WOZ theme is the age you say, yes I agree. But with a remake and prequal, it made the movie current again in terms of mainstream media, hence it is recognizable by another slew of generations, making appeal and profitability potential on location.
Once the market is completely dictated by us home collectors and priority is not ops putting them on location toearn a profit, awesomely aged niche titles like this might have a fighting chance. Collectors buying power has already made waves, hence le editions, with pins struggling in the arcades our buying power will increase exponentially.
So lets make this list big enough to cause a stir, sign me up.

You make excellent points. Glad to have you on board too!

#195 11 years ago

How many TBL's would wind up in bowling alleys? Anyone have a guess? 20% of bowling alleys?

#198 11 years ago

From a report on Bowling in the US:

As of August, 2012, approximately 5,200 centers with about 108,000 lanes were operating in the United States. Of that group, about 4,650 facilities were commercial centers; the others were operated by the military, colleges, fraternal organizations and private clubs. Approximately 25% of the commercial centers were 32 lanes or larger in size.

From me:

Dudes - if just 10% of bowling alleys committed to a TBL, we would have enough to make this a profitable, viable project.

#202 11 years ago
Quoted from Fliptastic:

What the hell, count me in!

You are in and so is HeyNow's wife!

#203 11 years ago

Maybe Maude should pick up the ball and fly and drop it?

#206 11 years ago
Quoted from ccotenj:

it would have to be an em... the dude is old school...

The dude is open to all possibilities.

#211 11 years ago

Whoever has Gary's email, should forward a link to this thread. Or JJP, the guys that made BJM, Skit-B or whoever.

I know this topic comes up from time to time (TBL as a pinball machine), but this seems like the most organized effort to gauge actual interest. In just 24 hours, we have generated what I feel like is a solid 75 pre-orders of this pin.

Pinside is probably an exact proxy for how the world at large thinks about all things. Wouldn't you agree?

#216 11 years ago

I think we are getting closer (but not there yet) to showing adequate demand for this title.

I feel pretty sure that once demand is demonstrated that we could take the next steps. Like line up a real design team.

Then need someone to manufacture the designed pin. Would need to outsource that to someone that has the facility and workforce in place - JJP, Stern, ?.

Financing the project. I feel pretty confident that we can make that happen with all of the very talented and well resourced people that frequent this forum.

The biggest obstacle that I see, aside from demonstrated demand/interest, is licensing. Not sure the actual chances of making that happen. There are a lot of Lebowski licensed toys/stuff out there, so we aren't facing a Calvin and Hobbes scenario thank goodness.

Does anyone know the 'ropes' in licensing?

#218 11 years ago

Who is StevenP and what does he do?

#221 11 years ago

Cool Zappa - how does it feel to be #76?

#223 11 years ago
Quoted from jayhawkai:

He appears to be an IP attorney or perhaps just stays at Holiday Inn Express frequently.

Either way, we can use his help! I hope he is a TBL fan.

Really, there are a lot of talented people on pinside. Thanks for offering your help too.

I have enjoyed keeping up with this wild thread. It is making me feel crazy enough to think there is a chance this could happen....

#225 11 years ago
Quoted from Zappa:

I like the thought of Knox Harrington give his silly laugh when the ball drains...

Wow, you are a fan! I had to look that one up.

#227 11 years ago
Quoted from jarjarisgod:

Are these shipping yet? I figure production should be ramped up by now.

Your confidence in the project is encouraging!

#229 11 years ago
Quoted from jayhawkai:

He appears to be an IP attorney or perhaps just stays at Holiday Inn Express frequently.

Well, I PM'd him. We will see if he is interested or if he can be helpful.

#240 11 years ago
Quoted from futurepinhead:

LCD it and I'm in. If you put a rug on the playfield it would real tie the game together.

I can't guarantee an LCD on the pretend pin, but I will pretend buy your spot - 77 -- if you become pretend dissatisfied.

Quoted from solarvalue:

I'd like to preorder please.

. You are in at 78!

Quoted from Steve_PBH:

I promised my son one if he picked up his social studies grades.

Steve - please send weekly progress reports from the SS teacher. I will decide at a later time if junior gets on the list.....

#242 11 years ago
Quoted from bombpop:

the plot is ludicrous...count me in

It is so ludicrous, it just might work! Welcome #79.

#257 11 years ago
Quoted from Honch:

It would be nice if you're right. I don't know if you remember, we had about 200 people in on an Elvira 3 and that got us nowhere.

Wow, I don't know anything about that. I just got serious about this hobby in the last year or so.

I don't think 200 gets this game made either. Were numbers the only obstacle on the Elvira 3 project?

#259 11 years ago
Quoted from fattrain:

In for one assuming the price point would be closer to 5k

This will be worth 10k by Festivus! I am putting you down for one - you will not be sorry.

#262 11 years ago
Quoted from MrWizzo:

Man, there is a lot of disingenuousness in this thread. You seemed so sincere.
Dan

I genuinely want to take a shot at measuring the demand for this pin. From there, who knows?

No problem having fun getting there!

#263 11 years ago
Quoted from MrWizzo:

Hey, did I get a number?
Dan

Yes sir, you did. #54 TBL LE, I can almost hear it!

I am updating the very first post as we go along with everyone who really says they want one and then assigning those numbers. It has become a poorly paying part time job...

#267 11 years ago

Those are good ideas Hanford - you have TBL LE #86!

#269 11 years ago
Quoted from MrWizzo:

I don't know if you followed the thread on Goalie selling his JM. I tracked all the name changes for that, and that didn't pay too well either.
It's a labor of love, I suppose.
Dan

Dude - that was you tracking that!? I loved that thread! Nicely done.

Mike

#278 11 years ago

We are just pretend preordering right now. No worries. No money. Just a fun thread for now.

However, I don't see prices on NIB high end pins going down in the future. Especially with small batch orders like what we are suggesting here. The economics don't work in your favor on a run that looks like it would be lucky to hit 300 at this point.

If I were a small batch pin maker, I would definitely not approach a project like TBL with a 'build it and they will come' approach. Preorder and money down would be the only way to go.

That all being said, I would participate in a separate thread that discusses the merits of the preorder mentality. Could be a good conversation.

#280 11 years ago
Quoted from StevenP:

I have no clue...
But seriously, I work in IP. Licensing the theme would start with figuring out who currently owns the rights to TBL. (Certain music clips might require separate licensing to be included, but the basic license should cover audio clips from the movie as well as the name and graphics.)
I haven't done any pin licensing, but I imagine SkitB oul help with their experience licensing Predator.

That is good info Steve. getting the audio from the movie is the only way this one makes sense.

I haven't really kept up with Skit-b and predator. Are they far enough along to start thinking about a second pin project yet? I was impressed they pulled off the licensing with those guys.

#284 11 years ago

As much as I know that I would love a brand new TBL LE, I would hate sitting on 200 of them that weren't sold....

#285 11 years ago

You guys are bringing the energy level down here man. We haven't had any pretend preorders in over an hour.

Stay on topic! Get the word out!

#289 11 years ago

Well, when we hit the critical mass for leveraging our collective pretend preorder for our benefit, we will start a new thread:

RFP - Design and build team for TBL LE. Competitive bidding process. Specs and terms enclosed.

#290 11 years ago
Quoted from Honch:

I think if I was going to manufacture a pin, this would be the ultimate way to gauge interest.

I agree. Has to go this way. The more narrow the theme and high end the pin, the more risk someone would take in making it.

#293 11 years ago
Quoted from rlslick:

Count me in! I want #300 though

Ok. I will promise you #300. But you have to go out there and beat the bushes a little bit and bring in a few other pretend sales.

#298 11 years ago
Quoted from navajas:

SkitB could quite possibly ensure my kids never go to college, my wife leaves me, and I live in a single wide stuffed with canned food, cheap beer and pinball machines.

We need more dedication like this.

#299 11 years ago
Quoted from navajas:

And have also specifically said they "haven't ruled it out for #3".

Makes this thread and the level of interest shown all the more important!

Keep those cards and letters coming in!

#303 11 years ago
Quoted from navajas:

And have also specifically said they "haven't ruled it out for #3".
That doesn't mean anything, I know, but it's hope I cling to. As long as #2 isn't Big Trouble in Little China I should be able to put together the scratch if that comes to be.

You do realize that I already have you down for TBL LE # 6, right? You are already pretend committed even if BTLC comes out.

#307 11 years ago
Quoted from Honch:

I have to be honest. If BTLC would also be an option, I'd have to flip a coin and then I'd hope it would come up BTLC.

I am going to have to watch that movie again. I can't really even remember it.

I feel the same way about a Monty Python pin, by the way.

#315 11 years ago
Quoted from jarjarisgod:

The lack of updates on progress and multiple release dates missed over the last two days have me reconsidering my preorder. Barring a big update this weekend, don't be surprised to see #7 on the block in the not-too-distant future.

Jarjarisgod - please be patient. I can give you a full refund, but you will have to wait until Tuesday to deposit it.

Mike

#316 11 years ago
Quoted from rommy:

I need an early production number. Someone sell me spot #9

There are a few 2 digit spots left and I have just given you one. Everyone's number is on the first post in this thread.

I update it more frequently than Mrs. RTR thinks is necessary.

#317 11 years ago
Quoted from John_I:

Depends on who is making it. Company, designer, software... If the right people are involved, I am in.

I took that as a yes. We wouldn't let anyone bad take on this project. Check the first post for your 2 digit production number!

#319 11 years ago
Quoted from rlslick:

Haha, you got it! I've got 3 others I know of ready to sign up, and they aren't for pretend! Hope this becomes the real deal!

With enough interest it could turn real! Heck we might have a couple of companies fighting for our attention on this thread.

Quoted from sb80:

Maybe there is a polite way of asking the P3 people to read this thread? This imaginary theme has gotten alot of attention. What the hell, count me in!

You are in with a two digit number. Not many left...

Quoted from aingide:

I would be in on this.

You are in # 92

Quoted from Waldo:I'd take one! Hope it plays, I just walked in to see what condition my condition was in.....

You are in too! Your number is updated on the first post.

Quoted from pinwiztom:

The Dude wants in on this ....

I assume this means that you want one too. #94

Quoted from PopBumperPete:

no, I cannot go on the pre-order for this (fantasy) game
I just don't have the patience to wait

No Dude for You!! At least until they are RTG.

#333 11 years ago

Ok dudes and non-dudes - we have 94 pretend preorders.

If you think you are on the list make sure you check the first post for your name and number and let me know if I missed it. I have tried to keep up with the posts and the pm's.

I am going to be travelling a bit so won't be able to keep up with this 24/7 for a while. Some of you dudeists may have to pitch in to keep the dream alive this week!

Mike

#335 11 years ago

Me too. You may have noticed Dude, that there are only five numbers left that are under 3 digits....

#338 11 years ago

I agree that a well done TBL would have a much wider draw than just pinsider types.

Make a pin that brings out a lot of movie - to even a novice at the flippers - and this would be a winner.

That is, however, somewhat of a build it and they will come business plan. I think someone is going to need a pretty decent commitment on that initial run to get this project going. Needs to be WAY north of 94 pretend preorders.

Tracelifter - you are already down for TBL LE # 24. You may need to buy a few more....

#351 11 years ago
Quoted from VegasAlleycat:

Finally made a point to watch this movie just because of this thread. Pretty hilarious!

As good as it is, it doesn't start getting really good until about the 4th viewing!

I'm in for lowest # available.

In!

Quoted from ArcadeTechNerd:

Really messin' with my Zen thing, man... (virtual Dude)
But gonna start saving the pretend coin right now!
I'm in... Thot I might have to do it myself. But I'm cool with that.
And I'd swap for 299 when it gets there... Just the sort of game I'd roll.

Lets hope we get there, but you are in. Mid Ninety number, check it on the first post.

Quoted from molspin:

Alright, I'm in too...
Mind if I do a J?

Won't bother me.

Quoted from micro:

I'm in!
Of course
Micro

Then of course you are in. #98 I think.

#376 11 years ago

OK dudes/dudettes, I updated the total to 102. I realize this is just the pinside TBL LE run, but we will have to have a few more to get someone's interest. I am guessing 300 is what we need.

Moderator - is there any character or space limit to a comment? The first post that I am constantly updating is getting pretty long...

#377 11 years ago
Quoted from Pugsley:

Can't be #1 but I can be #100!

Sorry pugsley, the way they stacked up, it put you at 101. So in a way you are 100 and 1. Sort of. Hope that is ok.

#378 11 years ago
Quoted from xsonics2k2:

I'd buy one... 101

Same to you xsonic2k2. - you are 102. Hope that was ok too.

It is an awesome film, but nobody here has even mentioned that it is the Cohen Bros. tribute to the Big Sleep, also a very awesome movie.

Going to have to show my Lebowski ignorance here. I did not know that. Thanks for the info, I will have to watch that movie!

Maybe the pin should include a nod somewhere to Big Sleep?

#384 11 years ago
Quoted from taz:

RTR, I think that's some Duderiffic karma in setting the LE limit at 300 for TBL.....as in perfect bowling score.

I thought so too, but somehow it earned me yet another thumbs down on my first post. Total of 7 now!

I have never been thumbed down that much in a post. It's like I was trying to promote video games or something.

It's all cool though, that's just their opinion, man....

#391 11 years ago
Quoted from taz:

RTR, I think that's some Duderiffic karma in setting the LE limit at 300 for TBL.....as in perfect bowling score.

Great idea and done! First post is updated to 300 TBL LEs.

#392 11 years ago
Quoted from fumbleflippers:

Extend the LE run and sign me up for #420

I put you down for 106, but have a disclaimer there allowing you to trade for 420 when we get there...

#394 11 years ago
Quoted from tracelifter:

OVER THE LINE!
Sorry RTR but the LE run is only for the first 100.
This isn't Nam, this is pinball there are rules.
Am I wrong?
Doesn't anybody follow the rules anymore?
It's an LE game RTR, mark it 100.

Finally, our first controversy!

You are right Tracelifter, the first 100 should be special. Those were the first brave souls to take the pretend leap of faith and plunk down imaginary down payments. Right in the smug faces of thumb downing naysayers who couldn't even be pretend happy about a fictional situation.

I will make sure that the first 100 are like you want them and the subsequent 200, although special in their own right, will be somewhat less so.

Super exclusive ad from the Pinside Marketplace!

Quoted from Acejedi:

Im in for sure count me for 1.

You are in at # 107!

#402 11 years ago
Quoted from jarjarisgod:

Exactly! If RTR keeps cranking these things out, there's no way it will hit $10K by Christmas.

If we don't hit 300 commitments, no way this gets enough interest to get made!

I really thought we would have more interest for this pin. I know we are trying to generate orders for a pin that doesn't even have a home yet, but still...

#407 11 years ago
Quoted from NYP:

These numbers would plummet to about 10 if you started asking for deposits, but good luck.

I doubt it would fall to 10, but I agree it would fall a bit.

It would also climb a bit as a lot of dudes that would want a TBL LE would probably jump in on a serious sales effort.

Looking at the pin collections on some of the 107 so far would indicate to me that a lot of them would/could follow through. I know that I would. Assuming a reputable company and design team took on the project.

Still not enough of a response to make it happen, IMHO.

#408 11 years ago
Quoted from Putmick_J:

I'd be down for one. #123 whenever we get there. But ill just sit on the list now haha.

You are in at 108, with dibs on 123..

#412 11 years ago
Quoted from pinballlife:

OK, if this was actually made I would be so in it's not even funny.
Terry.

Terry - not sure how much support we have to show, but this is looking like a good start. You are in at #112.

If we could show a solid 300 pretend pre-orders, I think someone would have to give this some thought.

It might even be a federal law that every bowling alley would have to have one.

#416 11 years ago
Quoted from starfighter:

Hey RTR, don't forget to make a family friendly version as well.

I think having two settings with the quotes would be mandatory. The TV version for 'family friendly' and the regular version.

"Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?"

Vs

"Do you see what happens when you xxxxx a stranger in the xxxxx?"

Not to mention the over 200 f-bombs dropped in the original movie. I mean, we all want to be able to keep this thing in the house right?

#417 11 years ago
Quoted from Rick471:

I am in for 2!! One for me, one for the public!!

That is the kind of commitment we are looking for! You are in!

Quoted from ChadNC:

It really would be a good fit for skitB 2nd pin keepin prod around 250.
Just as some people in this thread would drop off it became reality, others would sign up because it was a reality! The liscense would be the big issue.

Agree. Someone really taking this on would increase commitments in my opinion. The guy that replied in the dissent gave us a thumbs down for some reason.

Quoted from TomDK:

I would be also interested in that pin.
Great theme !!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Also in europe loved ! At least more than WOZ
Let us see what you plan !

Find us some more European commitments! I went ahead and put you on the list. We need to show support to gain interest.

#419 11 years ago

Dudes - Updated the first post, make sure you check it out. And tell me if you want to see your name on the list, if it is not there. I think I have everyone on that said they wanted in, including those of you that PM'd me.

I noticed there is another thread that took a poll - TBL vs TFE (the fifth element) and TBL is up by a 2 margin.

#428 11 years ago
Quoted from eggbert52:

It wasn't gonna happen on the first post of the thread. Go out and save some whales or something productive.

RTR, I think you missed my preorder. This aggression will not stand, man.
Put me down for an LE please!

I am glad that you checked the list! You are on now, my apologies!

#432 11 years ago

Dudes - need about 182 more orders to fill out the LE run. Where are the Europeans?

#439 11 years ago
Quoted from Tomcat:

Posted a link to this thread on flippermarkt.de

Thanks Tomcat. I hereby appoint you senior deputy of European Recruitment for the TBL project. Congrats!

Quoted from Bigmac:Hi folks,
I, another European pinhead would also be in.
Please check my number and tell it me.
Thanks

Bigmac - you are # 119 - I keep a running tab on the first post. Updated almost everyday.

#440 11 years ago

Wow, it is getting tough to sell pretend pins for fake money. What happened to pinflation?

#445 11 years ago
Quoted from Gatecrasher:

Yeah but that's not how it works. You have to hand-over $1500 first, then wait for the machine to be built and then cough-up another $5,000.
I think you're right.

No way that number drops to 10. A lot of the guys that have indicated interest have pretty extensive collections already and certainly have the juice to throw another nice pin into the collection.

In fact, if this thing really got legs, I bet some guys that are ignoring this pretend thread would step up - including some distributors. And that number would go up!!

#447 11 years ago
Quoted from jlm33:

My own % to actually subscribe to this project would depend on 1) Maker 2) Price 3) paiement plan.Skit-B for $5k with a $250 deposit? Count me in!!!

That is what I mean. Way up in the first post, we established the assumptions - good design team, company that can actually pull it off, and an estimated price of $6500 that could be high or low - but in either case a $1500 pre-payment.

Just enough info to take away some guess work on the things anyone would worry about - and all of this is just to gauge interest.

There are people all of the time talking about TBL as a pin theme. I thought - hey let's see how much genuine interest there is and count'em up. You never know who is reading the thread - this could be the catalyst for someone to take it on as a real project. I know where their first 122 pm's would go if they did!!!

#450 11 years ago
Quoted from CapnARRR:

Sign me up! Love the movie and would get to have a pin with the same acronym as my initials!

You are in capnARRR, #123.

Quoted from Linolium:

I may not be a Stern, or JJP but wouldn't mind being a small startup guy like Skit-B was/is.
I have the talent and p2k tech, but I don't have large startup resources. I would also, of course, would need to acquire p2k, wms parts and devices, and The Big Lebowski licenses...
Just throwing it out there.
-Lin

Lots of good ideas, Lin - you never know where something like this might lead!

#451 11 years ago

Five days was as long as I could go without reminding everyone about TBL.

#455 11 years ago

I have been slacking guys, haven't checked the thread in a while. I have added you two to the list.

For everyone else - we have now reached the all critical pre-order number of 125!!!! I have everyone's pretend deposit money in an imaginary escrow fund.

I think we need a few more to get this thing in line for production....

#459 11 years ago
Quoted from Dr_Gonzo:

It seems the imaginary project is moving along!
Congrats!!

Thank you Dr. Gonzo. Let me know if you want to be on the list!

#460 11 years ago

Bump because my wife and I are having a Lebowski night!

#462 11 years ago

I would too. We need more than 125 pretend commitments to get it done though.

#464 11 years ago
Quoted from mrbillishere:

you'd get more pre-order if there was a real announcement made by one of the boutique startups that are one the scene.
I for one would be in line.

Statements like that get you put on the pretend order list. Welcome #126!!

#465 11 years ago

Don't forget that Metallica has a natural tie in with TBL. In fact, I am surprised they didn't make both pins at the same time.

I bet TBL is Stern's next game and all that Star Trek nonsense is just to throw us off...

#468 11 years ago
Quoted from tracelifter:

Does this mean that the TBL fan club gets dibs on our games and we get shut out?

Yikes, I hope not! That kind of aggression will not stand man!

I read about the MOPLE mess. That really sucked. If the demand was there, I don't know why they wouldn't just make more and make good on their promises to both groups. People would have been upset about about a larger than expected (and less 'rare') LE run, but I think the ill will would have been less overall.

It was very un-dude of Stern.

And not nihilists either!

I'm in for one. Put me on the pretend list for a pretend LE.
Where do I pretend to send in my pretend deposit?
You better not pretend to bump my pretended order because you sold to many pretended LE's.
I want to pretend that Im going to flip this thing for $10,000 by Christmas!

Don't worry I put you on the pretend list for real at #131!

#493 11 years ago
Quoted from TheDude:

sign me up for a le please

Ok dude, I have you and Arcadegarage down for one each!

I think people have underestimated the international appeal of this theme. A bunch of the latest orders have been from Europe.

This list is getting serious. Hope SkitB or someone is paying attention....

#495 10 years ago
Quoted from Bigpin:

Please put me down for one. I would do anything for this machine.

I would too. I would even keep up with pretend orders and update the list every time someone jumps in! You are #134.

#504 10 years ago

r6emporer, Dr.Pinball, and VILENIN 300 - you guys are all on the list!

These TBL LE's are flying off the imaginary shelf!

#506 10 years ago
Quoted from 35mm:

i'd like an LE (unless you plan on the premium being an LE with different trans-light).thxs, when's delivery?

You are in at #138.

Delivery? Lots of ins and outs, what have yous, its very complicated.

This is an interest only thread - hoping to generate enough bonifide interest that one of the boutique manufacturers would pick it up as a project - SkitB, Jpop, others. I think they would need at least 300 orders to make it a project, so I am keeping up with it until we get to the magic 300 number.

It might never happen, but a wise man once said, "If you will it Dude, it is no dream."

#507 10 years ago

Addendum - If this is true, it could be the leg up a little urban achiever like myself needs for this project:

Quoted from s1500:

Why on earth would you even preorder a nonexistant game that's not even not shipping with 0% completed code? Some people....
The more people do this, the more nonexistant companies will not keep doing this. Or not.

At least I am not collecting real money. You do have to pretend to lay down a deposit though. If you want to be on the list, but won't commit to the $1500 non-deposit, I won't put you on the list.

So are you not in or not?

Quoted from Darth_Chris:

That pin would be super cool. Made me wanna watch the movie again when this thread started. Think I saw it 3 times since then. See a lot of support. 138 that's some serious numbers but lately it's going very slow adding new people. 300 with half of them already sold to pinside members, very easy to say the 300 will sell very fast if it gets create. Don't forget a lot of pinside members are like me. They need a finish product on the table before opening their vault. Stern ? JJP ? Skidb ? The money is on the table. Good luck with this project guys.

Darth - I am putting you on the list at #139!

Quoted from s1500:

I bet we have quite a few people willing to commit actual funds to this kind of project - maybe Jpop, skitB or someone will notice that there is a pin project funding source hanging out on this thread...

#523 10 years ago
Quoted from sd_tom:

Thought exercise for the group: re-theme WOZ into a TBL!
- spinning house into his car; maybe not spinning but blowing up in various ways
- rescue area into either bowling alley, or gutter balls dream, or Jackie tree horn condo
- flying monkey into Maude (flying paint sequence)
- the swirling colored inserts would do well for strict drug regimens
- wizard scoop.. Stfu Donny?
- maybe the collect target = Bonnie's toe
- not sure about rainbow targets, pop bumpers..

Nice! As cool as that sounds, not sure my wife will let me touch her WOZLE for that purpose once it is finally delivered....

MiamiRedSkin 145
RazerX 146

Here are the additions to the list:

Tsskinne 150
JatoOspry 151
Gumbo 152 (talk to CA Pin Fan if you want #69)
Swf127 153
Patrickive 154
John_in_NC 155
Pinmods 156
Big Lebowski 157 (another European sale - worldwide appeal)
Muppet Man 158

#597 10 years ago

#600 10 years ago
Quoted from navajas:

I'm #6 on the LE. I expect that to be honored.

#607 10 years ago

It seems to be pretty a well thought campaign. If they just wanted to run a hoax, they could have linked to the site from a thread here.

#608 10 years ago

It could be a cheap way to gauge interest in a project:

Website $25
Bowling costumes for the flyer girls $70 http://www.amazon.com/Bowling-Adult-Costume-Size-Large/dp/B0041PA4GK
Pay two girls to walk around for an hour in costumes and hand out flyers $100
Print cost for flyers $100
Ad at expo $200

For less than $500, you can see how much of a buzz gets generated for a possible pin project.

I'm still very doubtful of this and am loving watching this hoax unfold. If for some reason it did come to frutatation I would be in. 2nd favorite movie behind Life Aquatic.

I have you on the list at 164 dude.

Count me in for #165 Dude

I have you down for #165 - great to see more interest from Europe on this game!!!

Quoted from TurboBengal:

I've seen this tread several times and never opened it. This is freaking hilarious. The whole tread is awesome. Big thumbs up RTR!

Thanks Turbo! So - are you pretend in at #166 or for real out?

#663 10 years ago
Quoted from kklank:

I said I was in. Whats my number? There's so many hilarious quotes they could use from this movie.
I'd like the number zero for my TBL. Mark it zero Donnie!!

You are #163. List is on the first post, page 1.

Great idea for your number! You have dibs on zero now!

Quoted from Pinman2020:

I'm in on http://dudepinball.com/ so why not here as well.
A pin like that would really bring the game room together.

You dudes are both on the list!

#669 10 years ago

I am just glad that pinheads are interested enough in this pin to argue over numbers!

#671 10 years ago

Well, I will put you on the maybe list...

Lets hope it gets done, sells a ton, and we all get to play it whether we own one or not!

#673 10 years ago

You are in yonkiman #168.

This has been a great week for TBL LE sales.

Which one of you pervs is going to jump on #169?

#675 10 years ago

Fake sold!! I knew that wouldn't last long with this crowd...

#677 10 years ago

Nilroc in at # 170!

Man these games are flying off the virtual shelves...

#685 10 years ago
Quoted from PinJump:

Putting down my virtual deposit. Count me in.

In at 171

Quoted from SideTrackTap:

What the hell, put me down for one.
Chris

# 172

Quoted from rvdv:

Was I signed up already ?
Dude, so ready to roll on this !

I think you are in at #147, it says rbdv, but that is probably you - if not, let me know. I would hate for you to miss this on a technicality - but this is league play smokie.

I guess no one has heard anything lately?

#694 10 years ago
Quoted from jazc4:

Never seen it. Is it a comedy?

No, it is a lifestyle.

#696 10 years ago
Quoted from TomDK:

I am also in for this pin !
Looking forward to what is happening !!

Tom - you are the proud pretend owner of #173, dude.

Wow, no more fake orders to record. What will I do with all my time....

#723 10 years ago

Pretty funny that a European company took on this project, seems like I remember someone saying TBL lacked a worldwide appeal!

#726 10 years ago
Quoted from Plungemaster:

Does not tell anything where it is manufactured. But... Yeah, i am really surprised by this. Dont think tis will sell alot here.

Check out the FAQs - it does say that it will be manufactured in the Netherlands:

Quoted from John_I:

I'm officially cancelling my original (fake) pre-order from this thread -haha. I love the theme, but have a wait and see because of the new company and I don't feel like sitting for three years on the edge of my seat waiting.
Now if it was Stern designing with Ritchie or Borg, I would still be in.

John - I am going to fake hold your spot until April - at no charge!

I am guessing that DP will have to come out with a lot more information between now and then to convince people to make a second or first payment on this project.

#741 10 years ago
Quoted from sd_tom:

That and sweeten the pot for preorders. That seems like an important strategy if they actually want people to preorder.

That is not a bad idea. It worked pretty well for JJP. Right now the only 'pot sweetener' for taking this risk is the receipt of a game earlier than everyone else - and that isn't always the best thing. I would rather have the 35th game than the first...

That is cool! Did you request it or are you a preorder?

I am on preorder too, maybe we will all get one? That would be pretty cool of those dudes.
