You can load a profile, set up with prearranged game settings while keeping the "master" game settings at factory, or what ever you have them set to. With the profile system running you can play a handicap match with players that are much better than you by having your profile set to "easy" and theirs set to "hard". Unfortunately there is no game save state that will allow you to drop the game and come back to it, but I believe it is technologically possible, obviously not good for location play, but for home use it might be worthwhile.
