Curious, if you had to pick just one, which would be the worst pinball machine ever made?
I know some people like it, but I'd have a hard time not picking Shaq Attaq.
It's not just the theme. It's the sound too. It might be the only game I've ever left before the game was over.
IJ4 is great for beginners, but awful if you're decent at pinball. Shoot this shot four times lights everything for jackpot! Now shoot this other shot four times to light everything for jackpot!
There's one on location near Pittsburgh on five ball, but three was all I could really stand.
There are no bad pinball machines, just poorly set up games. That is the cause of most "worst game ever" comments. Just think about every game where you walked away thinking "That sucked". It was because something didn't work, or weak ass flippers, or slow boring play. Just think what the game would have been if it had been fixed up a bit. Leveled correctly, pitched just right. It would have made it "OK". Heck, even the worst game in the world, Judge Dredd can be fun. It is all just a matter of finding the sweet spot.
I know I'm gonna get hate for this, but Mustang is the only game I've ever left before I got to ball 2. But, I've never played Shaq Attack!
Was going to say Middle Earth(with its 2 sets of off set flippers) but then I remembered what a dud Atari's Time 2000 was. So I will say "Time 2000".
South Park we can close this thread now.
I was at my brother-in-laws house he has just one pin and it's SP. I was so bored I wanted to play a few games, my god this game is a turd but maybe that's intentional since a turd is a major character and it's got a toilet as the main toy.
I will give the disclaimer that it was not in 100% condition so maybe it would not be the worst pinball if it was.
Yes! So many EMs with creepy clowns. I see them for sale all the time for like $100...I don't think I'd take one for free.
I can't stand South Park and Avengers. I played South Park once and wanted to leave after ball 1 and the only reason I play Avengers is because I have to play it for league.
Oh and then there's Punchy the Clown but that's in a league of its own.
Quoted from asay:Yes! So many EMs with creepy clowns.
Worse yet the one above is solid state.
Quoted from oldskool1969:STTNG , totally overrated, overpriced piece of poo! Maybe I just don't get it.
Yes I expect to get thumbs down, oh well, that's how I feel.
You don't get it.
Quoted from futurepinhead:A one player one at that.
It was a home model.
Having said that, come on, why is everyone bagging on Big Top? It has three targets, one spinner, one pop bumper and a whopping seven roll overs... Oh, and two flippers!
Quoted from o-din:Worse yet the one above is solid state.
I scrolled away from the clowns so fast I didn't even notice.
Everyone says Vacation America is the worst pin out there without question. I'm curious to see what it's like...I can't even find a gameplay vid anywhere.

You'll probably have a chance to see their follow up to it. Very soon.

I guess it might not be that bad. Once you get past the clowns.
A game I wanted to like but plays just terrible is Phantom of the Opera. I guess for me it played the worst of the approx. 300-400 pins I have tried.
Quoted from someoneelse:Hercules.
Might be a cult classic for it's size, but the gameplay doesn't work at all.
yeah. in terms of gameplay, I have a hard time imagining anything even close to as bad as Hercules.
Quoted from LOTR_breath:A game I wanted to like but plays just terrible is Phantom of the Opera. I guess for me it played the worst of the approx. 300-400 pins I have tried.
Interesting. I thought this game was fine. Granted, very shallow rules, but great artwork, and fun enough game. What specifically did you dislike?

I owned one for a while and would like to have one again...You think it is worse than Raven or Popeye?
DE Star Wars is the most monotonous, least interactive, boring pin of the DMD era. A great license wasted as well.
Space Invaders is probably the slowest, dullest game that comes to mind from the SS era. Shame too, cause I love the way it looks all the way around.
Joker Poker and Fireball are the only EMs that have held my attention, can't really say on that era because it isn't my thing.
who dunnit was pretty boring, looks neat, has neat slot machine toy but game play is lame.
could of been done better

Hard to believe, but to each their own. I thought the gameplay was fun and the art package makes this one of the top 20 games I would like to own. Great work from Data East!
I would go with something more like this...
That was funny. Yeah...you're right...WOZ is WAY worse than Baywatch.
You've got issues...
Not that after your diatribes a few weeks ago earned you any credibility this certainly cements the total lack of both credibility and tact.

This after the guy comes to the open house. Lol.
Quoted from pin-pimp:WHO dunnit was pretty boring, looks neat, has neat slot machine toy but game play is lame.

Who Dunnit certainly could have made much better use of its theme. The gambling stuff could have been left out in order to have more actual mystery solving, rather than getting one clue which blatantly states who it was, then solving the case. Plus it could have really used a wizard mode for solving all the cases.
For me it's rippleys believe it or not ! It's such a weird game , creepy and honestly I can never get into the theme .
Quoted from Taygeta:Joker Poker and Fireball are the only EMs that have held my attention
Not a bad start ! EM - as early SS and late SS - can vary in taste from deadboring / unplayable to really challenging and fun. So even if my favorite pin is an EM, I would not be surprised if the worst pin of all times was an EM too.
I pick Avengers. Usually in the middle of a game I say to myself "Why did I put quarters in this?" I can play long games on it but no excitement at all with scoring or modes.
1979 Stern Hot Hand. The huge constantly rotating flipper on top is loud and annoying, and since you can spot cards up there all day, the drop targets are sort of pointless. Totally uninspired generic backglass art. Just a whole lot of "meh" on that game for me.
Quoted from jlm33:Now you have raised my curiosity... looking for Hercules to play!
We had very nice examples of Hercules and Orbitor 1 at the Texas Pinball Festival, and both were fun to play along with having a coolness factor. Good luck in your search.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the topic being discussed.
Orbitor 1. Ugly as sin, and does this even qualify as a pinball machine? The game literally plays itself. Just shoot the ball and watch.
Not fond of Baby Pacman, either.
Quoted from Underspin:2 spinners
Spinners you can't miss actually... are they the largest spinners ever?
My personal worst EM is Jubilee, but I never played Super Star, which seems a winner. I love where the stand up targets are located. Random instant outlane drain if you hit them?

High Roller Casino did this for me.
Wheel of Fortune. When you approach the machine first time, tempting to put a coin in and you look into that slick quiz masters' face, you walk away.

Except that, if you can ignore this face, this is a great game. Really.

I might have to cover the face with a rug then next time
