Wondering what people think of when they think of the worst music in pinball. Music isn't essential to having a good pinball experience (early games prove this) but can really detract from it.

For me, hands down the winner is Shrek.

Note: It does have to be "music," annoying background noises don't count.

sttng is really bad. f14 right behind it.

AC/DC! (I don 't like the band, but actually I think their music works well for pinball background music.)

Watching videos of Black Rose, seems like the sound on that is pretty bad (though I kinda want to play the game anyhow.)

For me, its TZ (I loathe that Golden Earring song and it was one of the reasons I had to sell mine).

I am a bit of a fan. I actually saw them in concert. Believe me, it does wear on you with the game if you own it, especially if you grew up in the 1980's where every city seemed to have an AC/DC channel.

You sir, are wrong. That music could not be more perfect for that machine.

As much as I love CFTBL those midi style 50s tune are awful.

#8 10 years ago

Simpsons is really bad. Stargate also.

#9 10 years ago

Yeah TSPP drives me up a wall, and I absolutely love the show. It's like they are shoving a circus down my throat the entire time I play. The hurry up music makes me want to kill puppies and kittens.

WOZ! First one to say it, which shocks me.

I meant the original Simpsons, but jesus you're right, TSPP is god awful also.

#12 10 years ago

Roadshow

#13 10 years ago

Hey, you can't say Freddy...it features the creepy jump rope song periodically and that alone puts it up a notch.

Otherwise, that list is pretty good. Add TSPP.

Anything that used the Yamaha 2151 is just down right nasty...

#15 10 years ago

Yep, ACDC
TZ and CFBL honarable mentions

#16 10 years ago

cfbl worst music? i love the music in that game...

for me i would say things like lethal weapon 3. or jurassic park...same composer sounds that way too and its just the fast paced sounds in the music that i dont like...

At first, it was too repetitive and I would have to agree. It is much better now.

Has the acid kicked in already?

#20 10 years ago

Jackbot...that saxophone music sounds like a porn movie soundtrack!

#21 10 years ago

Love CFTBL. So...disagree there.

Here are some I'm not a big fan of:
Batman Dark Knight
High Roller Casino

I'm also not a big fan of Country Twang, so Road Show isn't a favorite, either.

Riverboat Gambler.

WOZ and CFTBL.

Awesome games, terrible music.

#24 10 years ago

Not sure what the worst is, but TX-sector is the best!!! there is no other that can even compare.

TX-Sector is the best!!!

I thought you were joking until I listened to the music. It really is pretty catchy.

On a side note can someone please explain me why a big company like Stern, who is using movie base themes of latest blockbusters, to help increase sells with product popularity. Why can't they use movie soundtracks or actors callouts on their pins? I mean they paid for the license, why are they cutting on quality of the music and hire people to do voice impressions ?

Example : batman dark knight might have one of the best super hero soundtrack you can have. True Hans Zimmer masterpiece. On the pin....... You can hear music but nothing like what the dark knight deserve.

Spider Man has true actors movie quotes callouts but the music ??? Home made.

Avengers no actors no real music.

Depends on the license or what the designer wants to do. In Spider-Man's case, Steve Ritchie hates Danny Elfman and wanted an original soundtrack. On the other hand, Avatar is 100% movies score, clips, and custom dialog from Stephen Lang. Iron Man is mostly real movie score & clips, with some original score & custom quotes from some random military guy & a Jarvis sound-alike.

For the record, I think the Avengers pinball score is excellent.

high speed: worst drum machine sound in all pinball

Blasphemy!!!

Clearly the best one at the time anyway.

Agree 100% with that. Music is really good and callouts are numerous and good. Still Robert Downey Jr voice is missing. That guy is hilarious.

How can Ritchie hate Danny Elfman ? Danny's scores are incredible.

Anyway I still can't figure out why Pirates of the Caribbean and Batman Dark Knight could not get their soundtrack.
They ar both bringing the theme alive.

Christian Bale Swear to me would have been a super quote. Heath Ledger let's put a smile on that face or why so serious ? are classics.

Serious as a wet fart in a crowded elevator! TX is flat out the best. Runner up is BK2K, but the competition is really not close.

I am not saying it because I own these games but rather I purchased these games largely because of the epic tunes/voices within.

I'm pretty sure every city still has an AC/DC channel. It's called EVERY CLASSIC ROCK STATION EVER. Give me anything else classic rock and I'll be happy. Give me ACDC and I'll soil my trousers with rage.

Sorry buddy, have to disagree with you whole heartily on the Batman Dark Knight soundtrack. I'm a movie soundtrack aficionado and I think that soundtrack is utter drek. It's works well in the movie for sure but as a stand alone listen it's not good.

The Avengers soundtrack soundtrack by Silvestri is actually really catchy.

#35 10 years ago

Rollergames for me,cannot stand the music on that pin.

#36 10 years ago

Worst I've heard is LW3 -C+C Music Factory thank god they put choices at the beginning of the game and didn't just go with that one. WOZ is a close second

#37 10 years ago

Any pin's music will eat at you after time. This is why I crank up the old surround sound while playing pinball. You have to keep the music fresh!

that's why I like it, has the 70's soft groove funk feel, very unique for a pin and a nice change

#39 10 years ago

Here are the music tracks from TX-Sector.

#41 10 years ago

JP and BK2K don't belong in this thread! 2 of Brian Schmidt's best music packages.

#42 10 years ago

SHAQ ATTACK. While I think the game is not quite as bad as everyone else seems to, I DO play it with the music turned as low as I can get it.

#43 10 years ago

You don't get the original voice actors for one simple reason: $$$.

Agree Woz and Jackbot suck also.

Never been a fan of Taxi or Fish Tales.

Also, while the music is pretty good in the post data east SEGA games (BF, SST, etc), the audio package delivering that stuff to your ears was the worst ever in pinball.

I have two Sega games, and I had to replace all the speakers as soon as I bought the games, before I could even play them. Man, what a collection of garbage these pins shipped with..
