Not the worst hack I have seen, but I found this floating woofer mod in the R&B I picked up off of an operator on route. Bonus points the alligator clip wiring harness breakaway feature for when the woofer drops through the hole.
Oh, and of course there is the ubiquitous operator installed wire nut mod in the head.
