Not really a hack per say.

At first glance, I thought, how nice of them to install a remote battery holder. Figured they probably had one of those 3.6v lithium AA's in it.

But upon closer examination I found out it was only connected to the rightmost terminals because they were corroded. So they would still have needed to have 2 batteries on the board

I've recently got this creatively touched up F14 playfield for parts. Yes, that's all under a layer of clearcoat...

    Quoted from DuffysArcade:

    1. I didn't insist on anything, he liked the game and it was his choice.
    2. I am able to fix the wiring for him.
    3. We are both able to see the game not for what it is now, but for what it will be.

    4. Free car battery charger!!

    Quoted from PinJim:

Wow, wonder if there’s any saving that board...

Just a matter of replacing the rectifiers and regulator I reckon, I'm more worried about all those wiring hacks

Because cutting another base plate in half is easier than replacing it?

Remember the hacked up Road Show I posted a while a go? Starting to work on it and looks like I have more detective work ahead of me.

No worries guys, I will solder and heat shrink everything, and refit connectors where they were supposed to be. Already fixed the wiring at the mains box. After the transformer I found another gem. Its the gift that keeps on giving!

    Quoted from goingincirclez:

It's a pretty fail-proof method! The only issue I ever have, is remembering to slip the @#&^@ heat shrink on the wire (or having the appropriate size on hand) *before* soldering the ends together.
So sadly, most of my joints end up with an electrical tape wrap which isn't quite as pretty as heat shrink. But done properly, they are just as fail-proof. And sometimes tape has its own advantages too (easily color coded; easily bundled; easily removed).

Upvoted for the model RR learning lab: same way I learned most of what I do

This reminds me of the time I had to splice two (long) pieces of cable together but accidentally spliced both ends of the same piece to each other, creating a loop

While admittedly it does not yet work, it cleaned up pretty well. Lots of broken traces and eyelets. Still WIP!
