Well it's still KIND of a fuse isn't it........

    About a 50 amp one.

This was found on my 1973 Gottlieb EM high hand, one of many. It worked, but the original switch would have been much easier to install........

I sold my brother in law my doodle bug. he said a screw came out and he fixed it with a nail. I told him to take that shit out. Hopefully he did and didnt use a drywall screw.

    You know he did.

Lifted the playfield of my friend's Space Shuttle tonight and found this......oy...

Looks similar to my High hand when I got it...

And then they reinstall the board in the game, shorting the transistor tab to the back plane, thus undoing everything they put so much effort into fixing.

They could have at least squirted hot glue all over it for insulation.

Not the worst I have ever seen, but when going thru my High hand relays I found this on one of the hold relay switches:
HH Hold relay contact (Small).JPGHH Hold relay contact (Small).JPG

From the shape appears that it was a blade out of a Williams EM. It worked, but?
Fortunately I had a few spare AG relays & was able to rob a decent blade set & solder it in.

OMFG, I cant explain this one

At least it's a straightforward fix.

    Quoted from ChrisHibler:

It'll be easy to match the wire colors, unlike old ball bowler cloth wires that fade.
Still, getting solder to stick to those old oxidized wires is a PITA. Flux will be needed.

& don't forget to put the shrink wrap on BEFORE you solder it together....... been there, done that....

One of these makes the job easier. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01961086E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Inside a Seawitch. Previous owner told that he had installed the switch to prevent his children from turning on the game when he wasn't home...

I would have chosen a smaller switch, but I like the idea.
I have installed a couple of small toggle switches in my Bally Old Chicago - one to disable the chimes for nighttime stealth play, & one to disable the tilt for roughhouse play.

My Seawitch has a big game tagged harness. Came that way I am sure.

    Quoted from Stokoloog:

Here’s a repair in a pinball 85 years old. I was lucky to be able to purchase a World’s Fair Jig-Saw build by Rock-Ola in 1933.
I know the full history and that’s quite exceptional I think. At a certain moment in its long history someone decided that the broken rebound spring needed replacement by this coil spring. To be honest it worked well.
But the original looks a lot better!
Proud to restore a piece of American history.
Bought it from rockola.buckwerx.com. Great site for these vintage pinballs. Courtesy to Nathan Thompson.[quoted image][quoted image]

Where did you find the correct spring?

    Quoted from HHaase:

Just wait till you find out about all those JIS screws you thought were Phillips. There’s a reason the screws in your Japanese made stuff seem to strip so easy.

JIS standard screws are way better than Phillips. You just need to have a JIS standard screwdriver. Difference is slight, but regular Phillips are designed to "cam out" when tightening torque gets to a certain point. JIS are a more positive drive. JIS screws have a dot on the head to indicate that they are indeed JIS.

Best JIS drivers I have found are the Vessel Megadora series, available on Amazon.

If I have no keypins I have used a square toothpick shoved in the hole and clipped flat with snips.

A valid repair. The special blank pins are a ripoff for what they cost.

    Quoted from MrBally:

I always got the toothpicks from the location bar as needed. I'd wrap electrical tape around the toothpick so it wouldn't vibrate out.

Yeah, but you were factory trained.
