I've seen a few hacks in the past couple of years, but none that I thought worthy of posting here. And this week I find both my favorite hack and least favorite hack on the same game, a Williams Liberty Bell.

My Least and Most Favorite Hacks (resized).jpgMy Least and Most Favorite Hacks (resized).jpg

Apparently, the owner liked his rubbers tight!

    Least Favorite:

There is a 'crispy critter' in this pic as well...

    Quoted from CNKay:

Gottlieb mechs are built like tanks! Good upgrade.

    Quoted from zacaj:

The only problem I see in that picture is that someone installed a Williams flipper mech on one side...

    This ain't gonna fly...

But this candy-striped Bungee might become the latest rage...

    My first hack!

    DSCF4027 (resized).JPGDSCF4027 (resized).JPG

I needed a 300K Ω resistor. I had 100K Ω resistors. Hey, it seems to work fine and those resistors get plenty of air for cooling!

This was my first PCB hack.

    Quoted from chas10e:

Now your gonna have to do ALL of them that-a-way

I may never need to replace another 300K Ω resistor again. But, yeah, I have the start of a cool looking three dimensional piece of artwork started here!

    Quoted from JWJr:

The really bad cases are "CDO" - alphabetical order.

    Quoted from Marvin:

it needs to be changed, the 3 is fine but they are not all oriented the same way, how sloppy

You guys are so funny! I have just enough OCD to want to orient them in the same direction. Something happened on the way to the perfect hack.

    Quoted from Robotworkshop:

I hope that is only a temporary hack and you get some of the proper ones in to replace them....

I have to make an Amazon order and I considered buying some 300K Ω resistors. But I am not going to need 100 resistors and the price for small quantities is outrageous. Maybe I will pick up a few at GPE, but I kind of like the hack as it is.

    Quoted from MrBally:

Welcome to the world of route operating. Keep the quarters flowing.

Ha ha! I have a much better appreciation for those creative hackers out there that "Keep the quarters flowing."

One of the digits on the display began to flicker and then died. I replaced the 100K Ω 1/4 Watt resistors with beefier 1/2 Watt resitors. The 300K Ω resistor was disintegrating. I thought you might enjoy seeing the original resistors. Warning! The bands on the resistors are not aligned and one of them is spatially oriented in the opposite direction!

This looks like a washer used to connect plumbing re-purposed as a shooter rod tip! It wasn't very effective. The end of the rod is mushroomed.

Hack Type: Re-purposed Common Household Item

Don't see too many EM hacks on this thread so wanted to share this with you. This is my second hack.

A curtain rod hanger gave it's life to get the 1000 point chime to live again. A quick cut with an angle grinder and voilà!

Chime Bar Cludge (resized).jpgChime Bar Cludge (resized).jpg

I might have to add a second screw, but this hack didn't require any modification of the original pin. Even the screw hole was at the right height. Easy hack!

This will stop that annoying buzzing sound, but I was disappointed that they didn't use dimes!

Need a place to put the free play button? Rather clever, I think. But I want to put this on route!!
