Cost of a bracket = $2.50. Cost of a quick weld job at operators shop = $0.25...
Quoted from PINTEC:[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
I’d give an A for originality on that one.
Quoted from PINTEC:[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
So how did they connect the ends? The hooks?
Quoted from PINTEC:[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
My Hot Tip EM is my favorite pin, it’s just sad to see one bungied like that (EM or SS).
Quoted from JethroP:Yep, someone just cut the wires instead of unplugging. WHY ? Just WHY?
I'm in the process of soldering.[quoted image]
Because there are people out there who don't know about the connectors and figure everything is permanently wired. Which is rarely the case in anything with wires in it.
I wonder if there has ever been an incident where someone used an actual crutch for a leg on a pinball machine? Instant award!
Quoted from bssbllr:maxash posted this on his bringing back to life a Blackout thread. Thought I would show the community the hack he ended up with.[quoted image]
Just came to post this . It's one of several bad ideas the former owner had, but this was the one most worthy of posting. The best part? The guy is an electrician by trade. Gave me his card and everything.
Sorry didn’t mean to take your spot light but I made sure to mention you. I’m no electrician but Loose his card. I will write my number on a piece of paper and do a better job the that. Lol
Quoted from alchy999:Went to look at as FT was told on phone by buyer the PF was in mint condition. This is a picture of the actual machine when I got there.

I would have given him/her a bill for time and travel.......

Take it outside and set it on fire!

I feel like you're offering up a challenge Chad
Quoted from bssbllr:Loose your wrench, make sure to look here.[quoted image]
Lol, I left a pair of vise grips on a rusty back leveler after adjusting, in case I needed to adjust more....finally found my vise grips like 2 years later
Quoted from JethroP:Is this a Jacketed Hollow Point or just a noisy plunger rod.[quoted image]
Well ya know, once it mushrooms at all then you gotta cut the bastard off to remove it from the housing and that takes actual work, so just leave it be..!

Quoted from pinballplusMN:A sticking flipper will never happen with this hack.[quoted image]
Well, the guy had the right idea. Williams did move from using compression springs and replaced them with expansion springs. but I'm not sure on which pins.
I'd like to convert my old pins to expansion springs for more positive action but have not yet figured out a way to do it without it looking like an abortion.
I assume this is your pin. Have you played with the expansion springs as pictured? If so, how does it play?

It's simple, buy the newer rebuild kits (or simply use the spring bracket from some old plungers you replaced), drill a little hole in the EOS bracket if you want it to look super clean or just attached the spring to the EOS screw. Done. Just did it on my Whirlwind. Flippers are so much better.

I know VID discusses this in his topic, but agree with you it just doesn't look quite right.

High School shop project?

Mine would be a custom application for my old Sterns. I have to find the right springs and figure out what kind of bracket to use/make. It is on my to-do list. I would like the spring to be self-contained within the flipper bracket

Just cut lose all those darn wires... Just wiring that gets in the way... right?
stopped all those silly fuses from blowing...
Quoted from Mitch:Don't have legs? Just use angle iron.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
I guess if you cleaned those up and painted them, some people might not even notice...
Someone must have had some spare angle iron laying around with no real purpose...

Like this? Couldn't stand the flipper bounce when it was released.

Was the playfield pitch the right angle?
Quoted from Axl:Working on a hardbody, interesting hack. Guess one of the switches made the coil lock on.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Funny enough those “save” coils are always cooked. Just have to bite the bullet

That's perfect, Mitch. What are those springs from?
Quoted from cottonm4:That's perfect, Mitch. What are those springs from?
I think its just a wpc return spring. I may have shortened it a little.

Perhaps they bought a spring assortment at Harbor Freight...

Thanks. I'll check that out. But I am thinking a drop target spring might work, too. I would have never thought about making the connection points the way Mitch did.

They bring in chromed steel - YOU bring in plain angle iron....THAT"S THE CHICAGO WAY!

I believe any thread fits, that’s a universal nut.

No need to cut it off. File it smooth, or better yet, hit it with a grinder and you're done. Easy.
Quoted from Mitch:People having trouble finding the start button on the coin door? Move it to the cab![quoted image]
THe button I can live with. But those yellow legs about put my eyes out

What's the story on the Star Gazer on F2K's left?
