Quoted from ForceFlow:They sure spared no expense with jumper wires

That's in case of field repairs

Not really a hack per say.

Well the way they did the work I would consider it a hack attempt. At least honorable mention.

That's it! I knew it looked damn familiar.

Still waiting for the thread titled "Best hacks you ever saw".This was in the bottom of the cabinet of BBBB .They have cut out part of an aluminum ginger beer can and bent ot to shape to keep the game going.

    My first hack!

    DSCF4027 (resized).JPGDSCF4027 (resized).JPG

I needed a 300K Ω resistor. I had 100K Ω resistors. Hey, it seems to work fine and those resistors get plenty of air for cooling!

I hope that is only a temporary hack and you get some of the proper ones in to replace them....

    Quoted from Robotworkshop:

I wouldn't bother changing it. If it works leave it unless you have OCD and must correct it for aesthetics.

it needs to be changed, the 3 is fine but they are not all oriented the same way, how sloppy

Welcome to the world of route operating. Keep the quarters flowing.

This was my first PCB hack.

    Quoted from chas10e:

Now your gonna have to do ALL of them that-a-way

I may never need to replace another 300K Ω resistor again. But, yeah, I have the start of a cool looking three dimensional piece of artwork started here!

    Quoted from JWJr:

The really bad cases are "CDO" - alphabetical order.

    Quoted from Marvin:

it needs to be changed, the 3 is fine but they are not all oriented the same way, how sloppy

You guys are so funny! I have just enough OCD to want to orient them in the same direction. Something happened on the way to the perfect hack.

    Quoted from Robotworkshop:

I hope that is only a temporary hack and you get some of the proper ones in to replace them....

I have to make an Amazon order and I considered buying some 300K Ω resistors. But I am not going to need 100 resistors and the price for small quantities is outrageous. Maybe I will pick up a few at GPE, but I kind of like the hack as it is.

    Quoted from MrBally:

Welcome to the world of route operating. Keep the quarters flowing.

Ha ha! I have a much better appreciation for those creative hackers out there that "Keep the quarters flowing."

One of the digits on the display began to flicker and then died. I replaced the 100K Ω 1/4 Watt resistors with beefier 1/2 Watt resitors. The 300K Ω resistor was disintegrating. I thought you might enjoy seeing the original resistors. Warning! The bands on the resistors are not aligned and one of them is spatially oriented in the opposite direction!

Not a pin and definitely not the worst hack but in the same vein of "keep the quarters flowing" - homemade bridge rectifier for a Robotron power supply. Sure, it works fine, just looks like hell.

Does that Robotron 2084 board have an Empire Distributing blue hang tag or Cleveland Coin red "padlock" seal tags? If so, that may be one of my field hacks....

Don't know why; Maybe to it through a narrow doorway. Anyway - it'swell on the way to being fixed!

Faraday Cage... keep that EM field under control....

But on to your question.... The fuses are clearly holding the wires in place

Not from vid's guide to replacing power chords. The original wiring electrical taped to a "newer" plug. The plugs wires were frayed, causing a short. So, overall, not a very effective repair.

Atleast they used electrical tape. I've found them wrapped with duct tspe before.

Who needs a nail when you can use duct tape? Here's a game I bought that had duct tape covering the gobble hole.
