Does anyone know if there is an official world record high score list of the various games out there? Google/forums searches aren't giving me much.

If you haven't heard of them, Twin Galaxies is the official home of video game world records and player rankings. Since 1981, they have kept records on video game player achievement, recognition and world records. They teamed up with Guinness World Records a few years back making it the official list for high scores. You can find pinball as one of the categories of games to search:

Well thanks, but their pinball listings are short/nonexistent. I guess I should have specified on the 'various pinball machines' out there.

It is almost not really worth keeping track of Pinball world record scores.

Video games are fairly consistent from one game to another, a few variables such as ROM level, stickiness of controllers are about it.

Pinball games are mechanical and the variables from how one even brand new out of the box game can play dramatically different than another.

Once the games get more ware, the variables grow even more. Sure you can try to have all the settings at default, but the brand of rubbers, the coefficient of friction on the play field, flipper strength, return spring rates, and numerous other issues and untangables makes it not really worth it.

I agree it would be nice to know what a "ballpark" super good score on a say a MM is. But once again the score on a MM at say Papa and the score of a MM down the street are not super comparable since the variables and untangables very the difficulty by a huge amount.

Pinball scores from one game to the next are irrelevant. Titles can be set to play extremely difficult or, extremely easy, even if you use all factory default rules.

Then there is tilt sensitivity, types of rubber, pitch, how clean the PF is, outlane adjustments, and 20 other things to make a game easy/hard.

It is impossible to standardize all of these things.
