Hello

Big noob here and still learning so please be gental

I have a temperamental issue that results in all switches on a column closing and the game ending since Slam Tilt is one of them.

So when i got the machine and turned it on, it had 2 x switch errors. It wasn't a switch error with the switch being closed, it was that the switches had not been hit in 80 games (i think thats when it reports it)

I had a look at the switch under the PF and the wires had been taken off and where just hanging there.

I soldered them back on, and everything worked perfectly

20 or so games later the machine slam tilts when i hit the 'light kickback'

I go into the switch test and the entire column closes when i press that switch.
I turn the machine off and leave it for a day. Turn it on the next day and its fine.
I then play it for 1 week (maybe just 1 game a day) and no issues. Then in the middle of the game Vs Germany slam tilt....
3 weeks later i turn it back on and it has the issue right away in the switch test. I start a game and the issue goes away.

I am guessing the error is on that switch? Here are some pictures of the wiring
Have a stuffed something up?

Currently when it works every single switch on that column works individually without shorting and activating all switches. Is something being grounded?

I understand it might be hard to diagnose since its temperamental

Bump,
can anyone help with any troubleshooting?

did you solder the diodes on or were they like that? could be a backwards diode. Had the same problem on my WCS and ended up being a backwards diode on the left ramp switch.

Diodes were still on, was just the wires that were off.
Was your issue temperamental or always happening?

I forgot to mention that I disconnected all the connectors off the boards in the backbox and plugged them in and it didnt make a difference when I had the issue

It only happened when a ball was hit firmly up the left ramp if it was slower it wouldn't happen. Check just Make sure the diodes in the row of switches affected are on correctly

I am interested in a solution as well.
First, I would check every switch in the column. The one you resoldered the wire to might not be the problem
Second check diode http://en-us.fluke.com/training/training-library/test-tools/digital-multimeters/how-to-test-diodes-using-a-digital-multimeter.html

is there an opto board under the playfield? i believe there is... so next time this happens when you're in switch test, remove the large connector from the opto board. this will disable all the opto switches and remove power to the opto board. does the problem still occur? (note you can remove the large connector from the opto board with the game power on, it won't hurt anything.)
