I'm no WPC-s expert, but I'm hoping that one of you who is can provide some guidance. Here goes:

It started with the "check fuse F114 and F115" error code. F114 was blown. Replaced it and it blew again. That led me to suspect BR1 had shorted, which it had. Replaced BR1 with a correct new one and assumed that I was done.

When I reinstalled the board and powered the game up, the LED's flashed in the correct sequence (D19 on and off, D20 constant flash, D21 constant lit). However, only the GI circuit was lit and the DMD display only showed one vertical bar across part of the display. After staring at the machine for a few minutes, the board rebooted itself and went into attract mode, ostensibly suggesting a successful game start. However the DMD still displays just the vertical line. I tried the obvious, like reseating all the connections and ensuring all were keyed correctly.

Any ideas on what is causing the delayed start and the unhappy display? TIA!

Check 12Volt-regulated on TP3.
Are capacitors C6 + C7 still ok after BR1 had shorted ?

Hi Pinsiders, I finally got back to this. (Anyone else have 5 projects going at the same time? It seems like none of them ever get finished - sheesh). Anyhoo, regarding this bag of tricks, I replaced C6 and C7; The game booted but I had no solenoid flipper power. I wonder if BR3 went, too? Also, even with fresh batteries and a new holder, this game will not retain its memory. Clay probably addresses it somewhere, but does anyone have a specific thought in mind on where to look into that (and the dead flippers) TIA, all!

"not retain its memory" can pretty much be only two things (presuming the circuit/connections from installing the remote battery are OK):

bad D1 or D2 on the cpu ... or a failing ASIC socket.

try pressing the ASIC back into its socket and see how good a KEERUNCH you get.
