I don't think there is a thread for this already, but I figured this could be a thread to show detailed pictures of WCS '94 so that others that do a full topside teardown (like I just did) and any other shopping help for this game (lessons learned, tips, etc) as it is a pretty involved with all the ramps and the unique features (coin toss mech and mini playfield lock)

I will make a series of posts with all my pictures during the topside teardown that I just did. These posts should be in the order that I tore the game down. Then to put the game back together, just follow the posts in reverse order.

This post shows me holding a bunch of connectors under the PF. these are the connectors that need to be disconnected in order to remove the mini PF and the lower big horseshoe shaped ramp.

Be interested to see how you remove the metal coin toss assembly. That's the point I'm at on my long delayed shopoout. Seems to be attached to the side rail and playfield with various bolts and rivets if I remember correctly.

I will be finishing up my shop tonight and tomorrow night. Once I do, I will post a bunch of completed pictures on how the job turned out. I hope this will help anyone that has been considering doing this. I have never shopped a game like this before and that was this dirty. I just went VERY slow and documented the whole path. put sections of the game into bags and labeled them as I went so I knew those parts had to go somewhere in that one area of the game.

Outside of one broken screw that got stuck in a hex post, I have had no issues with this job so far. We will see once the game is fully back together and if it plays correctly, but there really isn't anything crazy you have to desolder or disconnect as there are connectors for everything under the PF.

Yes. this gave me pause too. What you need to do is get the mech completely disassembled on the top side so that it is just that big ass gold piece. Then you need to go underneath the PF and unscrew the 3-4 nuts that hold the metal housing to the PF. It might take some wiggling, but the mech should come out. It is all one piece (all gold colored)

WOW! Very thorough documentation. I'm looking to purchase a WCS so I can see this thread coming in handy very soon.

Great thread! Thanks for starting it and posting so many detailed pictures. Your playfield is definitely in need of a thorough cleaning

Might be cool to post before/after pics similar to Elkhard Pinball (where I troll the "What Was On The Rotisserie" section): http://elkhartpinball.com/WorldCupSoccer94.htm

I'm definitely going to post similar after pictures of all the same areas of the game once complete. That should be tonight or tomorrow.

Prototype LED strip from comet. I stuck it at the top of the playfield backboard. It shines very dim light at the player, then Albright natural white light down at a 45 degree angle. Not very bright, but give the feel of stadium lighting. Looks nice!!
