Well looks like I'm joining the club. Just won one on eBay, gonna pick up this weekend. When I inspect the machine, is there anything in particular I should look out for specific to WCS94? I got it for $2275 which I think is a pretty good deal? And it's a keeper for me so I don't mind putting a bit of investment into it.

It needs a new display and I'll do the obvious upgrades like LEDs. What's a good source for a red led DMD replacement display?

#5229 4 years ago

Word. Yeah I guess it doesn't make sense to do otherwise. I decided to try out the LED version this time around. I have the LCD one on my LotR.

Quoted from iAmKemo:

Hope you guys can help... My parents have a world cup and while playing they said they "nudged" it side to side, not up, and the display when out along with the flippers. They have also noticed that the free kick saucers do not eject. I am going over there later to try and figure it out, but any help or pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds pretty clearly like a wire or connector was broken, kinked or dislodged. I'd check for obvious signs of that first and if you can't see anything obvious try reseating the connectors in the head.

Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:

I was watching that auction and grimaced a bit when it went that cheap. Then again, after the extra drive and any fixing that would have needed done, I'm sure I'd be a lot closer to the $3200 I coughed up for mine. Still, if you're local at all that's a hell of a scoop! Definitely go color DMD. That's the one thing I need to go after.

Picked it up today and it's a better buy than I even thought. In typical home owner, non-pinhead, fashion it is extremely dirty but in fantastic shape. Everything works and works well and a little novus 2 reveals a playfield that's beautiful. No battery damage or anything funky, just needs a display, some new batteries/nvram and some good old fashioned TLC.

Quoted from Hammerhead:

Just a note that the L-bracket in the last picture should be turned 90 degrees CCW so that it supports the ramp.
And the screw for the soccer all isn't stock

Quoted from chuckwurt:

The L bracket doesn’t go there either.
It goes here:[quoted image]

Gracias amigos

Does anyone know where I can easily order a set of Cliffy's for this game?

#5240 4 years ago
Quoted from Gogojohnnyquack:

Just follow the instructions at the bottom of this page:
http://www.passionforpinball.com/wcs94.htm

I did, just hadn't gotten a response yet. I'll remain patient

#5243 4 years ago

Is there a way to soften up the rubber soccer ball to make it sling the ball better? I know I can replace it but honestly the one in my machine looks new and doesn't feel "hard". But, for some reason, the ball seems to be unaffected by it. On the contrary, the one at my local arcade whips the ball around like crazy.

#5246 4 years ago
Quoted from chuckwurt:

Clean the black dirt ring around the bottom with novus 2

I should have clarified that I already did that

The machine isn't "set up" properly right now so the only thing I can think is that maybe it is a little too flat right now. Just have it plopped down in my garage while I work on it .

#5249 4 years ago

Does anyone know where I might be able to get the original mounting hardware for the soccer ball that is black? If not I'll just paint some hardware.

#5253 4 years ago
Quoted from provato:

google "4700-00129-00B" and "4008-01015-08B"

Thanks. I ended up finding the stock washer/screw being used on one of the ramps lol. I'll order a new washer on my next big order though because the one I have is some ghetto paint job.

For posterity, the soccer ball mount just uses a standard #8-32 3/4" screw in black. Most hardware stores will stock them.

Has anyone used a playfield protector on one of these? If so, how do you like it? The machine I got is nice but does have some wear around a few inserts. It's not so bad that it's worth repairing but it will get worse if not protected. I could use mylar but was thinking of just getting a full pf protector and calling it a day.

Got my comet LEDs and did most of the conversion last night. Coming along nicely so far!

Quoted from lecter:

Hello guys! I'd like to buy WCS94 and I found one guy who is selling it. The price is very high that's why I'd like to ask you for opinions: below you will find a few photos - can you try to find some defects of the machine? Before I take a decision I'd like to know your opinions. Thanks in advance!

I just quickly went through and the only thing that stood out to me is a little bit of wear on the "stamina" insert... Not a major issue and totally normal.

#5273 4 years ago
Quoted from IN_Pins:

Looks good. Did you use sunlight or natural white for the GI and behind the translite?

I used all natural white except for the coin toss assembly where I used warm white in lieu of those ugly yellow condoms.

I am very curious about trying sunlights but for this game I wanted that "stadium" lighting feel. I color matched most inserts pretty straight forward but used pink in the countries and tickets inserts and flex pink for the rollovers and saucers . I think I'm gonna switch the speed/stamina, etc., inserts to colors though as I've seen that done and liked it. The inserts are a bit yellowed so they don't come out as "white" as I would like.

This is the actual list that I used, all from Comet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/184JT5dTY7mBrOASSSZW8M2_Rx-SgplM6fzo2pukBbYw

Does anyone know where I can get the ramp guards? I’m missing the right one for the right ramp[quoted image]

I can't seem to find it on Marco but I bet you can find a little L bracket at the hardware store that works. That's all it is.

I would also be sure to take a look at the scoops and see how much wear they have including the one for the goal kick toward the back. I bought one recently and they were way worse than I expected -- I ended up repairing them with some wood epoxy and then putting both mantis and cliffy protectors on them. Looks awesome in the end, but a little bit of a pain.

Quoted from matiou:

Is any of you club members planning to go for the new mirrored backglass ? A bit pricey but looks good... tempting...

I can't tell the difference from the original.

#5349 4 years ago

Does anyone know which compression spring is the correct size for the diverter assembly?

#5352 4 years ago
Quoted from Kevlar51:

#10-389
Game Room Guys ID it for Twilight Zone
Marco IDs it for Funhouse in the title

Oh actually that's not the spring I'm looking for. I'm looking for the one that goes over the plunger to provide resistance resetting the diverter when the coil is inactive. I just went ahead and ordered all 3 compression springs from Marco that came up under WCS 94. One of them has gotta be right

Quoted from Wanimal:

I'm SO excited! I get mine delivered next Wednesday! Cliffys, invisiglass, and color DMD are first on my list.

I did Cliffy's & Mantis protectors on all of my scoops, might want to consider that depending on how worn they are. The Mantis protectors are pretty inexpensive but they really protect the hole and also keep a perfect circle for consistent results when the ball is kicked out.

The Cliffy carbon fiber protectors look cool and are great for covering up some wear, but they don't actually protect the scoop itself all that much. Just the art around it.

#5388 4 years ago

IMO, it's not just the green. All-around it looks washed out by comparison.

#5391 4 years ago
Quoted from Wanimal:

Just ordered my cliffys, mantis protectors, and LED colordmd! Any other must haves?

The standard Cliffy set doesn't include slot protectors for where the ball drops to the inlanes -- I would get a pair of those as well and add them under the ramp drops.

#5400 4 years ago
Quoted from Wanimal:

Where can I get those at?

Cliff sells them. If you ordered direct from him just drop him an email and ask to add some to the order.
