Is anyone using these? https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/HG-1858. How hard are they to install for a newbe? Are they worth it? Do they prevent further damage?

My wcs is coming along nicely. Here is a before and after photo. I have replaced every plastic with new ones along with protectors, new titan rubbers, comet leds, and side art blades. I Have been cleaning and fixing for 3 days straight and the game is working at 99%. The only issue I am having is the left flipper is not working with the assist hole and lighting the in lanes above the pops. The right flipper works fine. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone would like an entire set of used plastics, just pm me.

I think the lane switch and assist eject are triggered by the second flipper opto. When you go into switch test mode and push the left flipper button, do you get 1 or 2 switches triggering? If just 1 then that's likely your problem. Try cleaning the opto with some rubbing alcohol and check for obvious problems first (is the plastic opto interrupter broken? Does the left button itself look the same as the right?

Good luck!

never seen those in my life.

Quoted from BobC:

Does anybody have a list of Colored (or white) LED Flashers for WCS94?

I would recommend staying with incandescent bulbs for the flashers. I put LED flashers in my JP and it was so blinding it was hard to play. I reverted back to regular incandescents and it's way better. I think even Comet recommends leaving flashers as incandescent but I can't find where they say that on their website.

#4558 5 years ago

try some 5 SMD 5050's. you can get colored ones for under the domes, but i'd stick with white in open areas.

the incandescent color hue will look weird with everything else being natural white, imo. these aren't that bright. just play with the lights on; room lights.

Thanks for the advice, I cleaned the optos in alcohol and a toothbrush, and the second flipper switch registers in switch mode. I even took the opto off and reflowed the solder but no good. I might try to take the opto off of another machine to test it. I haven't messed with the fliptronics board, should I be looking there as well?

*Edit* I have isolated the problem. The flipper opto must be bad since I put one in from my DH and it fixed the problem. I’ll have to order a new one and I should be good to go.

That's a very nice LED job. What did you use behind the backglass?

Looks like you found your problem! Out of curiosity, were you getting both switches triggering in switch test then? (ie, 2 switches should show as closed when you push one flipper button all the way in).

I thought I was getting a good test in switch mode because I would hear two audible beeps when pressing the flipper button, but it turns out that one was intermittent at best. I was thinking about just soldering a new ir controller in there but for 10 bucks I can get the whole thing. So I just ordered another one.

I just replaced all the bulbs with natural white led's from comet.

Added a topper today. Added leds and a flasher to go off when a goal is scored. I am really happy with the results.

Wanting to install the cliffy kit on my WCS94 and have a technical question. Is it possible to install the out hole guards without removing the ramps? I have some cracking and don't want to finish them off since they are so hard to find.

You probably have to take the ramps off to install the cliffys. I would just put Mylar around the saucer edges. It’s worked just fine for my game.

i don't think i removed them, but almost definitely loosened for some slack while working.

Looks great!

What are you using for gi? I have all warm whites in mine, as I always preferred the look of standard incandescent, but that looks awesome!

Comet bright white 2smds? Domed? A mixture?

I tied the flasher in the topper to the red upper goal flasher. I also can switch off the gi and have only the flasher work.

I like the cooler whites in my pinball machines so that’s what I put in there for the GI. Comet bulbs call it “natural white” and they are the 1smd super bright frosted. Bought 2 25 packs. Ended up having to order a few more since I went through them all and still needed about 10 more. I should have just ordered the 100 pack.

Quoted from maffewl:

I was looking for something to put on for a topper so I went on google and looked up soccer ball light. Two pics came up that I was interested in:

The one I went with was a 3D soccer night light. Thinking I was the only one to ever do this I was super stoked until I was reading through old posts and discovered about 50 other people have done the exact same thing! DOH! Well if you want to see what everyone else did it is back around page 49. I paid around $20 shipped from Boscovs department store (company I never heard of before). There are two sizes. Do not get the “mini” since it is tiny. It was like $7.99 but with $12 shipping.

Has anyone used these from Mantis? How are they? Are they good alternative to cliffy’s protectors?

I believe these have to be epoxied into place. I would be interested to know how they work too.

#4579 5 years ago

Yes. Mantis website says to use silicone and press them in. At $22...it’s one of the “cheaper” mods out there. But I’ve been spending money left and right on games lately! Haha!

I have two things left to make my game 100%. I noticed two posts on the right orbit with nothing attached to them and did some digging. It appears there is a one way metal wire gate that is supposed to go there. Should I bother replacing this? This is what it looks like below.

I also need a new apron since mine is damaged down by the ball return and the kickback plunger. It is digging into the playfield and I want to find a replacement. Does anyone know where I can find one? Marco has what I need but of course it’s out of stock.

Looking for side decals for WCS. Bought the only one I could find from Tilt Graphic. PinGraffix does not make any yet for WCS, as their mirrored ones although pricey look fantastic. Are their any other options out there? Ty

Hi, I'm a happy new WCS94 owner--bought from another pinside member last week. An issue popped up today and was hoping for some troubleshooting assistance--During gameplay, on occasion I'll lose a ball and the game won't register and move to the next ball. But a new ball will still pop out. These aren't occasions where I've earned an extra ball, and the game doesn't tell me it's an extra ball, but that's essentially what it is.

Thanks!

Never had that issue pop up with that machine... its not in the first 30 seconds or so of play is it? That would just be a ball save.

Nope; it's happening after any length of play, and there's nothing on the display that would indicate it happened.

Check your ball trough, especially the ball trough jam (the one above ball trough 1)

I'm having a problem with balls getting wedged between the soccer ball and the ramp. From looking at the pictures in the topic gallery, it looks like there should be a guide attached to the ramp to prevent this. Attached picture shows the holes where the guide should go.

Does anyone have a picture of the part I'm looking for? Or, even better, does someone have an extra they'd be willing to part with?

Still looking for a cabinet fifa decal. A lot of games have this decal pulled off on either the left or right side.
Anyone reproing it or planning to?

#4600 5 years ago

I have a good copy that is working well and I have done some basic rehab with it (massive cleaning, LEDs, etc).

Overall, my plastics are very rough. Either heavily yellowed, warped or broken in spots. Any recommendations on getting new ones and if they need to be decaled by me or if they come complete?

Thanks!
