Okay confirmed. That plastic goes nowhere. Toss it in the trash.

#7302 2 years ago

Yeah it's a mystery plastic--it goes nowhere. It's not in the original set, and no one seems to know why it's included in available plastic sets.

This game needs an alternate translite featuring coach McGurk!

Are there any tools out there that will allow me to tighten the kick out backstops without removing all the ramps, etc above them?

Finally my neigboor Thomas Ravelli made a visit to test and play the game that he actually was a part of back in 1994. He was actually very talented. He had not played pinball for many years.

First the epic save from Thomas that gave Sweden bronze.

And now today.

Thank you for sharing that @planet4! What a cool backstory to someone playing your pinball machine. I love the little stories like that capture how pinball helps us connect with others.

Hey everyone.

I was asked by a member to see if I could make some soccer balls for the speakers of WCS94.

Here is a picture of what I have come up with. I can do one color and have multiple colors to choose from. (black, red, yellow, white, silver, light purple, light blue, light green)

Please send me a PM if you would like to get them. They will be $15 shipped and that is using USPS Flat Rate to include a tracking number. I'm not looking to make money on these. Just help you with a simple mod and cover cost of shipping and filament.

Cheers,

Collins

Looks cool, can you show a pick of them on?

Nope. I don't own or even have access to a wcs94.

I can hold them up on my TOTAN so you can see.

What is the OD of the speaker soccer balls you are making?

I have been restoring a trashed wcs for about 2yrs in my spare time on and off. Playfield is worn by flippers but will do for now. My ramps were in poor condition and have bought a new set of starship fantasy ramps and on my old I was missing the L shape ramp protectors. I had read they were unobtainable but I found them at PinballSparePartsAustralia. I remember seeing posts about this part with the need to source them. See attached pics for part number and some before and progress pics of putting lipstick on my pig. Hopefully this helps someone!

Yes that’s how it came I changed them for two yellow ones while I’m restoring but have white to fit when I get there it truly was a pig.

Brendo78 did you happen to source out the bracket that attaches to the ramp, to prevent the ball from getting stuck in between the spinning soccer ball and ramp?

Could never seem to find that! I have something rigged up now, but would love an original bracket.

So I looked hard for that part, again lol. My advice cause I don't think it's sold by anyone. look through the picture gallery here their are at least 2 real good pics of the item. I will link a pic of the dimensions of it. Then see if you can find someone to 3d print a plastic version of it. I have seen a few people do that then sell it. Only thing I can think of tbh. Anyways good hunting either way.

Hey DigitalJedi084 never had the need to find that part as mine was there. Best bet would be to make one. CrabbyPatty gas supplied the measurements so all you need is the material. If I do come across one I will let you know

#7320 2 years ago

Thanks! CrabbyPatty and Brendo78

Those dimensions are super helpful, I do have a 3D printer so I’ll work on getting something mocked up.

I can upload the STL once I’m happy with it

Right on, I hope you get a good mock up out of that!
So I am 90% done with my WCS94 full resto. Got one pic to post.

Man- those ramps are BEAUTIFUL.

Excellent work on the restore- she’s looking great

#7323 2 years ago

Saw the other poster had made some printed soccer balls, so decided to do something similar.

OD is exact to the mm of the ID, so pops in place nicely. Just tweaking it a bit, then I’ll share the STL file for those interested

Oh and CrabbyPatty first little mock-up of the ball diverter.

Mainly focused on the top most piece, and that’s where my ball gets stuck most.

I’ll share this too after I fine tune it, it’s on the printer now. Made it slightly different on the bottom, just to have some more material since it’s plastic vs metal. But I think it should work out nicely

Fits pretty well- need to print on some clear plastic to blend a bit better….but it works nicely, and no more wedged balls

Thanks CrabbyPatty - really appreciate all the help again!

Medic congrats, its a fun little hobby! I just uploaded the file to Thingverse, heres the link:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5273134

I primarily use tinkercad to make things, since its free and easy. If you have a different Soccer ball file you like, you can upload an SVG file right into tinkercad and it will create the STL needed for the printer. Just need to modify the shape to fit. I used my calipers and measured 95.4mm for the ID of the speaker cutout, and save it a thickness of about 2mm. You could easily grab another SVG and make your own custom one- tons of "Soccer Ball SVG"s on google =)

Edit:
Here is the blocker/diverter/whatever the proper name would be for the soccer ball as well

Check out a guy named CHEP on youtube- he has a ton of killer videos. Im not sure if hes more an ender guy, but I really enjoy how he explains things!

These speaker cutouts should be a nice easy first print for ya, since they are nice and flat, and dont really need any supports

So I am gonna post this question here while I try and figure this out maybe some help will come from this. My restore is down to flippers, they worked before restore but now they launch the ball all of 2 inches full hit... any ideas?

#7332 2 years ago

Played a TAF last weekend at league night that had mirror blades…man, so beautiful!

Splurged and grabbed a set for WCS!

I haven’t adjusted the WCS flippers yet, but to me it sounds like maybe the EOS needs to be adjusted. I’ve had similar behavior on other systems when that switch is out of alignment, mainly the weak shots like you mentioned

Edit- double post

I can answer my own question by doing so maybe someone else will avoid this problem. The white blue cable that goes from j104 on the mpu to the fliptronics board is a 5 pin connector I had it plugged so the wires wire plugged into the 4,5 spot instead of the 1,2 spot. flipped the connector and poof hardy flippers once again!

Good find!

That got me with J-107 before, for a bunch of the high power solenoids.

I have a tight dog leg into the basement so always need to take the heads off my games. 1 out of what felt like 10000 connectors wasn’t bad haha

My diverted isn’t going all the way to the right and is blocking the ramp sometimes. It moves to the left fine. Any suggestions it seems weak. Make the coil needs rebuilding?

The post for the diverter is probably just rubbing somewhere. Or the hex screw on the post (underneath the playfield) is loose. That was my problem a few months ago.

I'm about to strip, clean and put cliffy's on my super dirty WPC 94? Does the Playfield unplug easily put on a rotisserie? (I'm talking about the four main bundles of wires that run from the head to the playfield) I can't find the plugs other than all the way back in the head on the boards. Or do you most people just shop these inside the cabinet?

Quoted from rx2006je:

I would start by lifting the playfield and checking the grub screw that holds the diverter post go from there. Coils I would look at after eliminating the more likely problem points.

if you are going to unplug it from the backboard take lots of pictures like lots! then tape label all the plugs to make it easier like as an example plug spot j104 write that on some tape on the plug and have a pic to verify. then no confusion will occur!

Yeah I have learned the hard way doing this restore. Removing the head the first time probably sucked! Gets easier everytime though right?
I am taking my brand new wcs 94 to Texas Pinfest, I am down to replacing the left kicker leaf assembly, and a weird check ramp diverter test report, all the ramp switches work though? Pinball is a never ending learning experience heh!

Oh yea, it was definitely time intensive! But I’m glad I did, I used colored labels and put different colors in different “quadrants” to make sorting easier!

Got some mirror blades in today, pretty happy with them! Added some thin felt on the playfield as well to prevent scratching

Pictures were tough since it’s darker there, but it pops in person!

No issues with space between the walls and the coin toss and lock PF? Looks good

#7349 2 years ago
Quoted from Ceckitti:

It’s tight for sure, but everything fit and is moving nicely. Added that additional thin felt from pinballdecals for that extra protection.

I’ve had the playfield up and down a few times, everything seems to be moving nice to smoothly. Obviously you got to be little extra cautious I love it seems to be working out well so far!

#7350 2 years ago
Quoted from chuckwurt:

Ball should spin on game start.

Check ramp entrances for cracks

Check back of the left ramp at the u turn. It’s cracked a lot. Inspect condition of lock mini playfield.

Make sure lock magnet and magna save works.

Make sure left ramp diverter works. It should change direction with each left ramp made unless lock is lit.

Make sure the ball diverts to the pops unless the left orbit is lit for travel. Then it should go all the way around.

Make sure the goalie goes back and forth when goal is lit. It should be lit at the start of each ball.

Make sure the back VUK works after shooting the goal.

Inspect the condition of the three saucers on the playfield

Joined the club two days ago and this was my checklist - everything checked out nicely! Thanks again for the help!
