Thanks for the quick reply chuckwurt! I just put new balls, so I guess they're not magnetized... and the trough seems ok... the problem is that the solenoid is not firing at all when I start the game.

Does it work in the test menu? If it does, the problem is likely on the board...

#5103 4 years ago

Yes, the solenoid does work when fired from the test menu, but is not triggered at the beginning of the game...

I can't help you with this one. I have a similar issue on the pinbots I'm selling as projects that I can't get past.

I no longer have my WCS, but it would be my recommendation to figure out which cables control the solenoids on the logic board, then trace back across the board visually looking for fried/damaged parts. If you see something obvious, you'll know the problem. If you don't, it may require the use of a multi-meter and would pass that help back to the group as I couldn't solve a similar problem.

Good luck.

One more thing to try... try turning it on and pressing start. See if the ball ejects into the lane like it's supposed to, but after a longer time period... like 20 minutes. Something like that might point to an issue with the system clock (once again past my paygrade).

#5106 4 years ago

Ok... found the problem!
The coin door, even closed, was not pushing the interlock switch far enough (slightly bent bracket)... So no high voltage was going to the coils! When I was in test mode, I had the door open and the interlock was blocked using the yellow thing, that's why everything was working fine! Yes, so happy! And a zero cost solution, even better
Thanks to all who replied!

Wow... I'm actually going to try this on my pinbot when I get home. Ignore everything I said and congrats.

Following Vid’s guide for playfield restoration I’m now finished with all the sandpaper grits (After the last coat of clear 600 grit - 800 - 1000 - 1200 - 1500 - 2000 - 2500 and finally 3000 grit). It’s already shining!!
But I’m going to give it a “machine glaze” 245AF179-12C8-4D85-AFB0-B798117A9DA7.jpeg245AF179-12C8-4D85-AFB0-B798117A9DA7.jpeg4202A82C-02BF-475C-8B26-264FCD2F2240.jpeg4202A82C-02BF-475C-8B26-264FCD2F2240.jpeg

P.S.: I know I have to clean the white goo (clear dust-residue) from all the holes.. tedious job

Hello all, last Saturday, I joined the WCS club!! I mainly got it for the wife as she loves this game but I will admit it is a great game even though I am not a soccer fan. She needs a good shop job, new rubbers, leds and I have a small issue with the goalie not moving as far left and right as some of the others I have seen in action but I look forward to chatting with all of you about the love for this game. GOAL!!!

Welcome!

WCS is my wife's favorite game too. She's not a soccer fan but remembers playing it at a hangout in college, and its one of the only games she's ever asked me to buy, along with TOM and Doctor Who.

It took a while to grow on me but it is a pretty good game.

#5112 4 years ago

Lol. I have Doctor Who and WCS94. I played WCS94 for the first time when I bought my Doctor Who and had to have it too. Plus the dog on the back glass reminds me of Underdog!

WCS is just such a fun game non pinball or casual players can easily learn the rules and have a great time shooting the goals

The ball occasionally gets hung up on the magnet core which is pretty worn. Marco doesn’t have any in stock. Can I grind or sand it smooth or will that make the magnet grab weaker?

My magnet core had a mylar over its "playing" surface which of course I removed.
Check if you have this mylar and remove it with white spirit (makes the glue come off). It might be only old glue on on top of it that you have to remove
you can then cut a new piece of mylar with a circular cutter and apply on top of the metal surface if you like.
Check this picture to see the original mylar:

I sanded mine smooth and it still works great.

what is everyone's favorite mode in the game. I love the boston tea party because Striker is chugging the glasses of tea. I always get a smile out of it

Hi to all.
I bought my pin 6 months ago. My wife liked it too. The game was unfortunately in a bad shape and with my job I did't had so much time to restore it. Now after lot of time and hours spent on cleaning, mounting and dismounting, I've quite finished.
By connecting all the cables again, I've noted 2 groups of cables don't have a respective connector. Could someone please help me understanding if something is going lost by the previous owner ?

Does anybody here have scans of the two left saucers and their surroundings? I have to restore mine completely and would like to see what the graphics should look like in the original. Already vectorized for making masks also highly welcome.

I have scans, but they're of a prototype playfield. Depending on how far FROM the saucers you need, it will match. Go out too far, and the art will vary.

I heard there is a rare topper for this game. Does anyone have one installed on theirs? My old soccer ball is my topper lol

#5125 4 years ago

Ordered my new ramp set. The wait is finally over!

#5126 4 years ago

Ordered some for myself too! Mine are in solid shape, but I’ll have this game a long time and it gets tons of play. If I ever sell I’ll drop these in and the next owner can enjoy fresh new ramps.

#5127 4 years ago

Count me in as well... plus a set of Earthshaker ramps for a playfield swap and shop happening soon.

Is the 2 ramp set for $378 everything you need?

Just make sure you get the set and not both individually because I almost did that

Hello All...

During swicth test I found out my switch 41 was not responding (goal trough opto). I disassembled the related part and found out that the little PCB where there should have been an emitting diode was not even populated! At least that clearly explained my problem... Not too sure how this PCB ended up like this though...

I guess I have to order this:

#5132 4 years ago

So... It looks like the IR led got smashed out of the board! (the leads of the led were still in the solder joints). Too impatient to place an order to Marco, I found a random IR led in an electronics kit I had somewhere, soldered it in place and... it works! switch 41 is back in business.

#5133 4 years ago

Ready to begin step #4 of restoration: Re-Assembling!
As you can see in the reflection of the chandelier, meguiar’s machine glaze and ultimate polish turned the playfield into a mirror!

Can’t wait to begin step #5: Playtesting!

#5134 4 years ago

That's one nice playfield! I wish mine was shining like this... congrats!

Help! I installed the lighted speaker panels from Lighted Pinball Mods today. The install was uneventful and the game looked and played great for a few games afterward. I went away for a while and came back to the colorDMD and speaker panel dead. It won’t start a game but all the attract mode stuff is working on the playfield.

I noticed that LED 7 on the power driver board is not lit. As far as I can tell the other LEDs on that and other boards are all lit. Could this be hopefully just a fuse? None of the fuses on the power board seems to be blown (based only on visual inspection). Anyone have any ideas for what to check?

Led 7 is for your 12v and should be on. Pull and test f115 and f116.

I have it, at least I think I do. It is a simple soccer ball.

Those both connect to a black, shrink wrapped bundle that goes through the play field to the billboard over the left ramp. The hole is right under the daughter board with the 6 molex connectors.

Here is a snapshot...

I just saw one of those illusion 3d fans at a restaurant with the WCS logo moving around in it. I can't find it online, it would make an incredible topper.

Does anyone know what i'm talking about?

#5143 4 years ago

Just added a lighted speaker panel and lighted hinge covers to my WCS94. I think it looks great! Big shoutout to the guys at Litedpinballmods who went above and beyond to help me get everything working. Highly recommend these guys... have their products on all my games!

The picture doesn't do it justice... once you see a game with this installed, it's hard to go back to seeing them without the lighted panels. This probably means there is a Metallica version in my future, also...

Someone sells a NOS Goalie assembly A-17741 on ebay! Great opportunity to see the correct way to assemble this difficult assembly correctly as seen on his photos.

I want to share with the club a very affordable way to make your own custom shooter rod. I found a nice sized World Cup soccer ball key chain on Amazon that is a good size and solid enough to provide a great feel. The downside is you have to buy them as a set of 6 for $18.59. I removed the key ring attachment and drilled a hole into the soccer ball. I then used an epoxy from Ace Hardware to bond it to the shooter rod from Marco ($3.99). In all this is way less expensive compared to near identical ones posted in the marketplace. I have about 150 plays and it still feels solid.

So I'm contemplating getting this as a first pin.
The object I'm looking at has some dents. The ball is not spinning, and it's registering goal all the time.
This doesn't seem like two unovercomeable hurdles?
Is there other stuff i should look out for?
Batterydmg? Other usual chinks?
Much appreciating any help/advice.
